That’s not what you said originally though is it… you likened it to having a job you hate… or being stuck in a relationship that you don’t want to be in was it?
Nothing about enjoying football.
And furthermore… as if winning a cup is simply existing on another level of mediocrity! Come on now!

I thought the scenarios I used suggested not enjoying the experience but doing it because that is where you are at that time, I thought it was pretty obvious tbf but maybe not

I think you are living in dreamland if you honestly believe the usual suspects who challenge every year start the season saying come on now lads, a league cup and just finishing 16 every year for next 5 years is the way forward

And that’s the point, well for me anyway. The enjoyment of trying to get up and achieving it is far more enjoyable than having nothing to look forward to for next 5 years other than finishing 16 every year whilst having the same chance as any team in championship of winning a cup

Because the reality is your dream is quite a few others idea of mediocrity, that’s just reality

I never said that did I? I said every team will strive to be in the PL so they can establish themselves, improve infrastructure, and then hopefully when they’ve built a good squad qualify for European football or maybe win a cup.
Maybe I do live in dreamland as you put it! But I would love to see us win something in my lifetime… I live in hope! And getting to the PL is the first step towards achieving that.
Do I enjoy getting pumped every week… of course not! But the only way to improve is to move forward (upwards)
Is that fair enough? Are we on the same page now?

I'd take him. As it stands we have 3 strikers with championship experience. All have had injury problems throught the season. I'm not to sure but I think he's played pretty much every game for them. That in self is a big help. But saying that if someone better came along I'd be more than happy.

Move on, got to be better strikers than this guy. Surely Jamie and the lads will have someone on mind and keeping it quiet. Surely!!!

No way we bust £7m.on this lad surely get BBD I think we will be ok provided Campbell gets back fit and scoring we have Moore whilst he isn't prolific he isn't going to warm the bench. Personally I see this as £7m down the pan

Leicester are not interested in reloaning him to another Championship club. Unless someone is prepared to pay a fee circa £8 million - he will be staying at Stoke City until the end of the season as originally planned.
Exactly what I said. Then when they get relegated he's tailored made for their promotion push next season or they sell a young English centre forward who scored 16-20 goals this season for a large sum of money

So if we want him we have to pay up for him now and who knows given the new owners amd the rumoured Bournemouth interest in Campbell it's not as unlikely as some may think

You aren’t improving your chances of winning anything though, you are just increasing the wage bill and therefore the debt

Teams strive to be in prem because of the money. Zero issue with that

But none of that, in my humble opinion beats the reality that the Championship is much better and the thrill of going up is far better than oh another season of finishing 16th whoop de whoop

OMG you’re just hell bent on arguing aren’t you!
Improving your sqd doesn’t improve your chance of winning anything?? That makes absolutely no sense at all!
I’m out 👋

Not really, I posted something and you responded so I just responded

It’s simply two different opinions

Improving your squad to win a cup, which I believe is your point, I’m not sure it does and I believe that the stats back me up, lots and lots of teams have spent money improving and not won

Think you're only enjoying the Championship because recently we've been one of the richest clubs in it with one of the biggest budgets to ensure we have some of the best players. Once parachute payments run out ensuring we can't compete against the new parachute teams.
Wonder if many of our fans will still be enjoying it?

There's a problem in football, the financial gap between the Premier league and Championship is so hugh that any club that wishes to grow must gain promotion. If we don't return to the PL in the next year or 2, then suspect we'll end up like a Preston NE or a Stoke,
just existing mid table to lower mid table with little to play for.

Winning the FA Cup is near impossible at the moment, not just because of the money spent by some clubs but because of the depth of their squad.

When we played Man City in the semifinals 2 years ago, the difference in the quality of our squad depth and theirs was night and day.

That's why it's rare that a lower team reaches the final (even Leicester had a premier league squad when they won a few years ago), because they can't compete with the quality and squad depth of these clubs.

We never stood a chance due to not being able to play McAtee and Doyle.
Although N'Diaye had a great chance to score inside the first 5 minutes.

My main memory of the semi final is we were playing reasonably well, quite competitive.
Then Max Lowe for some reason, under no pressure, passes the ball straight to their player on the half way line.
Anyhow Mahrez still has loads to do running towards our goal with the ball from the half way line.
Whilst Mahrez had the ball it looked like Lowe was jogging at the side of him.
I'm thinking Max Lowe, just put in a tackle on Mahrez and why are you so slow? Mahrez ended up scoring and the tie was over.

Actually that’s not true about my enjoyment but I can see at least why you would conclude that, I have always preferred the championship, was never really a fan of the Harry style of football, I just prefer it because you always do have something to play for

Is this thread about Tom Cannon or people's view on the merits of the PL v Championship? Asking for a friend

Doesn't make great viewing for Kieffer Moore...
.. but Tom Cannon amongst the most accurate "shooters" in the league.

Pretty much sums him up this season. Rarely shoots when has the chance - not really what you want from your striker.

Be intreeting to see where Campbell would be placed on this graph.

Don’t play well against us = crap
Play well against us = world beater, sign him up

That’s how it works ain’t it? 🤣
I wish my exposure to him was just against us - Watching Stoke this season has been similar to watching United under Atkins

Cannon has played in Sheffield twice this season and been utter wank both times, to be fair.

I don't see why Leicester would drag him back from Stoke unless Wednesday are going to buy him. It's possible that this was the transfer ambition that Rohl mentioned recently though and he was saying things like "we'll see how ambitious we are now" so I wouldn't say it's a total no no from their perspective because Wednesday will want to do everything they can to support Rohl otherwise he'll be far more likely to leave.

Pigs reckon they are in for Cannon on Twitter 🤣

On the face of it and if Chancer is willing/able to splash a few bob, I can see Cannon ending up at the pigs

They are 3 points outside the play offs and have a manager who I would guess is respected by players

There’s a number of clubs interested in Cannon so we’ll see how it pans out.

My guess is that although we’ve registered an interest, we’ve moved on because of BBD

Few Bob yes, circa £7m absolutely no chance!

Can’t see Cannon going to Wednesday.

Their manager says there’s been no contact with him to discuss their Jan budget. When asked about it on radio Sheffield he said ask at the fans forum on the 15th because he didn’t know.

Their ugbo signing in the summer at £2.5m was the most they’ve spent in years on a single player. Can’t see them now spending 3x that on Cannon when it’s not long since they were late again with a tax bill, seemingly have no plan / budget for Jan and they’ve had to put their season ticket renewals out before Christmas.

They’re skint.
