Id give him to the end of the season to get us up then I'd be ruthless and bring in a manager to manage us in the premier League
 
I think the real question is who do we sign if there's a chance we are going up to PL. Signing anyone on a long term deal in January (ie not a loan signing) surely has to be with one eye on next season.

This squad and wilder are doing amazing things (1st on Christmas day shouldn't be forgotten) but it's now threadbare.

If the plan is to try abd get promoted, who are we signing that helps us achieve that but also then gives us a platform for next season.

I don't know the answer

I think Moore was a good signing. He was impressive with Ipswich last season and we had limited funds to bring in an experiences. successful striker. He's struggling at the moment but he's playing too much and looks shattered. And tired players aren't just tired bodies. They're tired minds as well.

We had Canon lined up but the pug was pulled so he has been first choice striker in a team at the top of the league. People are calling him lazy but it seems obvious to me he's banking sure he gets through 90 minutes.

I do think handing him a 3-year contract was idiotic though. And that's where Wilder has issues. Only interested in today.

Wilder for me has done enough to earn a chance, but I do have some reservations.

Not a great track record when he’s had significant money to spend

Great first season in the prem when finishing 9th, since then unconvincing.

Having said all that, instinct is telling me that getting rid is throwing out the baby with the bath water. And that’s coming from someone who didn’t really want him back

There are 20 other teams in the championship who have tried everything they can think of for years - in some cases decades - sometimes spending millions along the way - manager after manager after manager - trying to get into ‘the promotion slots’, let alone actually entertain the possibility of being in a position to get relegated from the premier league!

If you’re going to blame him for last season’s relegation you might as well credit him for Hecky’s promotion too.

Wilder, right now, is exceeding expectations this season.

Hearing complaints that we’ve lost three games to the top 3 teams in the division - as if somehow we should win 46 games a season, beating everybody home and away, or we’re not good enough - just seems like a long way from reality.

It's not beyond the realms of possibility (knowing how most American CEO,s work ) they'll already have a list of potential replacements and their replacements 😁
But they'll know most of us still have faith in cw properly backed in January (early I hope) with a list of additions as good as the business we did in the summer , I suspect des Taylor is still involved ?
But only players who are capable of sloting straight in "no squad fillers"

Centre midfielder "grimes?"
Centre half "Godfrey ?"
Centre forward
Pacy clever number 10
Forward looking right back ( unless seriki is close )
Our squad with everyone fit is as good as anyone,s in this division but it's too small to cover the injuries we're having ATM
 
Chris Wilder is doing a great job only lost a few games, we are in a good position to challenge for promotion.we have lost players to long-term injuries. The owners should back the manager as best they can.No one is better than Chris Wilder for us.

I never thought he was a good signing.

The difference is that Ipswich and Bournemouth are much better footballing teams, better coached and managed. They played to his strengths but he was a plan B to shake things up and they managed to maintain good, attacking football getting good crosses into him.

Wilder has him as plan A, we were already suffering from a poor footballing identity and I was concerned that he would restrict our style further. That’s almost exactly whats happened. Funds have not helped but Wilder chose to use limited funds on Moore instead of a player with better footballing ability, a gamble that i don’t think has paid off.

We don’t play to his limited strengths. We rarely get many quality crosses into him (i’ve been underwhelmed with his aerial ability anyway) and we just aimlessly launch it up to him or play around him. He has almost Ollie Burke levels of close control & technical ability and his passing and link up play is horrific. I think he’s broken more passage of plays than he’s helped to build or create. I genuinely believe i have better feet and vision than him.

He was a basic footballer before he joined us but in an average team those flaws are exposed even more.

Looking like the American management style for successful business has some naivety involved when it comes to understanding English football success.
Wilder built his first Prem success on a solid defence, with very few injuries. He has done much the same with this season so far in the Championship. When defensive injuries hit, the squad relies on youth for depth. It is found wanting.

The EPL is very different now and the level of players has improved since Egan and JOC ran the show in the old PL.

JOC had a serious long term injury, and the club never recovered. Souttar has a long term injury, is a loan player anyway, and the club will decline again due to fewer goals scored and a seriously weakened defence.

Apply new owners with money and which way does your smart business, and football naivety take you. The writing is on the wall. Most fans think 5 or even 6 acquisitions will do it, but the more players you choose, the greater the chance that one or more will fail you.

I give Wilder 10/10 for getting effort from the players

That thought process is so flawed i don’t know where to begin.

Just for context of the 42 managers that make up our history we have had 41 British managers and 1 Serbian. In terms of time its 0.5 season out of 138, or 0.35%

I can’t see how the Serbians half a season in charge gives any balance or indication of how a non-brit would manage us.
 
Just a question to Wilder out brigade (I can't believe I am saying that, we're third in the table with half a squad, but hey ho).

With the current squad how many points do you think realistically we should be ahead of Leeds right now?

Once again another poster missing the point.

At one time Sheff Utd would do well against the really big teams, especially at home. That's long gone. We are powder puff tbh and quite boring to watch. Main reason our inability to excite, entertain and score goals. Compared to other teams our much vaunted defence is now looking very average as our GD continues to diminish.

So our record against the other top 6 is 1 win v Sunderland, 2 draws and 4 defeats. Superb.

Well I definitely don't find us "boring to watch".

No team in the entire division has won more games than us and if you want to extend that to all 4 divisions only Walsall (12 points clear at the top of league 2) have won more matches.

As for our "average" defence only 1 team has conceded less goals.

Are you just judging us on the last couple of weeks when the squad has been stretched to its limit?
