There are some fucking atrocious men pundits
Paul merson and Tim sherwood are like fucking zoo exhibits
Or something in the circus where it almost feels cruel to watch it
Ha ha ha fucking ‘zoo exhibits!’ I genuinely spat my coffee out when I read that.
Good work Sir.

Led by main presenter Mark Pougatch along with Laura Woods, ITV’s star-studded Euros squad will offer a wealth of insight, expertise and opinion from a punditry line-up of Ian Wright, Roy Keane, Gary Neville, Karen Carney, Graeme Souness, Eni Aluko, Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou, Sheffield Wednesday manager Danny Röhl and refereeing analyst Christina Unkel.

I think it's a good thing, for us, that Rohl will be doing this. It's putting him in the shop window more and means he's mixing with people with influence at far bigger clubs than Wednesday. Also, it'll be taking time out of his days when he could have been planning for next season.

Refereeing analyst. A refereeing analyst. The absolute state of football in 2024.

Looking forward to Rohl's insight on games - "Give it to the small midfielder to pump the ball into the penalty area as often as possible - chances are, the defence will make an error eventually"...........
He must be getting a good in-person look at mbappe to see if he's good enough to sign for the pigs?

Looking forward to the soccer references from an American. I am not in anyway sexist or racist or show any prejudice in my everyday life however what I never understand is any broadcasters obsession with "ticking the boxes" 1 male & 1 female presenter 9 others of which 4 are female. If they can do the job then fair enough however when the women's euros were on the BBC all 5 presenters were female with 15 commentators of which with just 3 of them being male. For me personally I don't follow international football anymore as find it very boring and hyped up advertised crap but the commentators should be relevant to the sport. I genuinely believe that some of the guys off this forum or Youtube podcasters etc know more about the modern "mens" (hate to clarify that) game than most of that lot.

I've always said it, give me a football show for the Championship presented by Colin Murray and Benjamin Bloom and I'll watch every minute. Charisma, passion, non-biase, knowledgeable, honest. They're both fantastic.

You mean pundits that are not full of football clichés, that actually do their research and job properly.

Refreshing, isn't it?

Who will get promoted this season?
Pundits:
"The three teams who came down."

Button:
"It's too early to say as we don't know which clubs will have to sell players, which ones are going to splash money etc."

He must know his name is the same as the amount of money we have.

I really don't mind as long as Pundits are
a) Informative , don't just tell us what we've seen - give some insight that we may have missed
b) Entertaining

Few are either , fewer are both

I think that's the main reason why a lot of people (myself included) liked Colin Murray when he was doing the EFL highlights, he was entertaining and he had really good insight into most of the teams, how he would come up with these weird out of nowhere stats or records about certain teams.

It was the same thing with Jeff Stelling, entertaining and insightful, feels like Soccer Saturday has gone downhill without him.

I'd agree on Colin Murray.
From a radio perspective ( despite his voice) I quite like Carl Asaba , seams a decent judge of the tactical battle , Keith Edwards was non tactical but very entertaining, I remember him and Paul walker discussing shower screens for 2 minutes during a particularly boring away match .
Always liked Mick Mcarthy on the radio , good insight and called a spade a spade .

Eni Aluko said last night that

🗣️“Mings and Konsa’s partnership was crucial to their successful season last year.”

Pretty impressive considering Mings only played 1 game… 😅

She's hopelessly dense. Made for a great pair for ITV's Euro's coverage with a certain popular Gregg's menu item though

It's startling to me how many pundits are around, who are unequivocally shite at being one.

Typically now-retired players, who neglect to do any research into the topics they are expected to speak on.

In particular, it continues to baffle me how Sky Sports News frequently have Jamie O'Hara cover matches on Sundays. The man knows alarmingly little, for someone who played in the Premier League. He consistently fails to provide any sort of nuance about the game he is watching. It's instead usually just "X player is bad", or "Y team have been dreadful", with no attempt made to expand on these statements to establish why.

Paul Merson is funny in that he can't pronounce a name with more than 2 syllables in it, but at least he's able to articulate what is going on on the pitch.
