Asline Rd playing field was a godsend to us for playing footie, as it was just round the corner. Before that, the nearest park (with flat fields, at least) was Millhouses.
Light up front, but I'm not sure how that team went down.
I stayed in The Grosvenor(RIP). Fantastic night, shins red raw from jumping around when Quinny bagged.
Spurs made it 2-2 deep into injury time. Had we held on for 2-1, we would have been safe going into the Chelsea game:-(Nathan Blake made his debut off the bench and scored in a draw.
i agree. We lost the same number of games as Liverpool (16) who finished 8th.Light up front, but I'm not sure how that team went down.
Looks like a Russian prison - brutalist style I think
Just out of interest - because their North Stand was (seemingly) built for the world Cup in 1966 who paid the £100k?Looks like a Russian prison - brutalist style I think
It was certainly brutal on our finances and we had to sell star players and promptly got relegated all the way to the 4th division
When Brearley arrived to rescue us from oblivion , we were so broke that some internal parts of the stand had still not been opened , 5 years after it was built !
The pigs North Stand (larger) built in the 60s had cost £100k
Our SS , built in the 70s cost £700k
It was the Leppings Lane stand that was built for the World Cup.Just out of interest - because their North Stand was (seemingly) built for the world Cup in 1966 who paid the £100k?

North stand opened in 1961.
Always thought it was the other way round, but you're correct. Have to say at that time they had a fabulous stadium roofless kop or not.Wrong way round.
But it's not changed a great deal sinceAlways thought it was the other way round, but you're correct. Have to say at that time they had a fabulous stadium roofless kop or not.
Bert started a different thread a long time ago.
He had people like you in mind.

He had people like you in mindset in B
“People like me in mind.” Please elaborate. Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit(apparently) but what do you expect from the response you have sent(it’s not United!). I am reaching out to the wider Blades community to answer a question I have. And, if you have nothing to say, don’t say it. I have worked the doors of Sheffield for over 20 years and I have dealt with many a drunkard, but never an arsehole until I joined this forum. As a Blade of 40 years I am embarrassed and ashamed.Bert started a different thread a long time ago.

We replaced Deane with Flo that's why we went down!i agree. We lost the same number of games as Liverpool (16) who finished 8th.
They got a roof. But it's not changed a great deal since
Irish hospitals used to give their patients Guinness to boost their iron, I am NOT kidding!
Some goalkeeper was Gordon, surely would have played for either Sheffield club, except that they had goalkeepers of equal ability in their prime.View attachment 197895
Possibly Gordon Banks at Ninian Park? 63/64
It was his first goal I think but not his debut - that was at Ipswich in February.Nathan Blake made his debut off the bench and scored in a draw.
