Sorry to all those who may tag this a 'knee jerk' but starting the match with 3 full baks smacks of negativity again. In the same way Wilson used to deploy Williams at left mid or Weir with 1 up front. People are delighted that Clough said he wants to play 2 up front... What he hasn't said is that he likes to start with 6 Defenders on the pitch! All I hope is he learns quickly from that awful team selection today. 7 outfielders on the bench, who arguably should all be starting. Please learn quickly Nigel!

6 defenders, and then you have Flynn and Doyle who are also probably in the team for their defensive qualities.... White seemed to have done pretty well and should add much needed pace, but I agree that we should try to be more positive.

Blaming Clough for today is complete and utter lunacy. Febian Brandy should be transfer listed right away and the fact McGinn isn't starting every week must be due to his attitude. Played very well v Notts County but got dropped soon after under Weir and the same under Clough.

Wasnt best pleased when I heard the team news. Sounded like most of our creativity was on the bench.

I blame Morgan. He got all the credit last week. Or is it one rule for a win.......

Derby fans all said he was very negative , especially when leading .

Why must it be due to his attitude?!?! Have you any evidence of this apart from him getting dropped?

And we were losing 1-0 before Brandy came on. He was a cock to have been sent off, but those are the facts.

It's difficult to see what impact Clough could have really had with a handful of days pre-Crewe. Much better to assess what the impact of a full week of Clough management has on what was a team showing increasing confidence and form...

We had a chance to get back into the game at 1-0. Brandy's red card all but ended hopes of an equaliser.
I have no proof for McGinn not appearing, that's the confusing part because everybody saw that he did really well in previous games and deserved a starting place.

Cue numpties saying Muckanettles Morgan should have been appointed.

Pathetic.

Already?! It's his first defeat get a grip.

Please don't tell me you thought he would start with 10 wins in a row? Remember where we are.

Obviously there is no reason for over-reaction here after today's result.

But given we're getting used to how a new manager approaches things, I'd say some of the decisions today on the line-up worry me.

Failing to win cannot be clough's fault with the players available.

However, failing to TRY and win the game can be blamed on Clough. And he had 7 defensive-minded outfield players on the pitch at 3pm today. Not acceptable IMO

You have an unhealthy obsession with Morgan. What did he do, shit in your mouth or something?

Won a game without the pre requisite number of backwards passes?

Had a win % breaking double figures?

UTB

He's from Barnsley, he's ugly and he spent most of his playing career outside to the top flight and got sent off lots. Ergo he must be an uncultured brute who relies on kick and rush and prefers the Bay City Rollers to Verdi (the composer not the crap Argentinian forward).

No, I don't go to those sort of clubs. I'm just wondering how much nonsense our s2 Hoofbillies are capable of. I fear we haven't plumbed the depths yet.

Upanatem!

I thought it was a strange lineup as well but let's give the guy a chance! He's still learning about the players and he probably took the view that White and Lappin can play in midfield. He made a mistake with the team selection today but it's his second game ffs.

I agree about the team he picked but to call him negative already is most definitely knee jerk with all due respect.

I'm pretty sure we didn't play 3 full-backs?? I presume you just mean 3 who are usually full-backs?
Didn't listen to the game, where did Lappin play then? Looking at the team i presume he must have been in central midfield with Doyle. Or was he on the left with White in the middle? Either way, can't say i understand the logic in that one. With McGinn, Cuvelier and Coady on the bench. Definite head scratcher that. Answers on a postcard. I'm guessing it didn't work.

Clough out, it may not have been said yet but I can tell some are dying to,

I am more interested in what Clough has learnt from this defeat to be honest.

I won't be happy to see the same players get given the same old chances time and time again

I cant understand why McGinn was dropped in favour of Lappin FFS I have yet to see what he offers us going forward

TBH Lappin was one of the better players today, confident on the ball and always making himself available. McGinn was OK when he came on apart from making a cock of a corner.

That's another bad thing about the sending off. It didn't just ruin the game, it ruined the chance to draw conclusions, to learn from the defeat. Clough needs to learn quicker than Weir did, about his squad, about what will work and what won't.

Being reduced to ten men may make him think that everything (a fluke goal apart) was going according to plan, and we'll try the same next week.

Yep a uninspiring team choice from an uninspiring manager living on his fathers name and reputation arrrrgggghhhh I can't be arsed with this shower of shit of a club, bad enough losing to the likes of Shrewsbury but to put out a side full of defenders with the intention of not getting beat FFS words fail me.

What an odd team selection this week.
Although McGinn must have some sort of attitude problem which sees him dropped so easily.
