The penalty yesterday wasn't terribly struck by any means. Decent power in the shot and it's placed well. The problem comes from the body shape as Moore is setting up to strike the ball. The act of "opening the body" as it's called (Thierry Henry-style), makes it very easy to work out where the ball is going. It's not inherently wrong to go to that side of the goal with a pen, but when you telegraph it like that it makes the keeper's job miles easier.
I would actually pick out Norwood's penalty vs Wolves last season as an exceptionally well taken pen. The way the ball is approached, makes it nigh on impossible to accurately predict where the taker is aiming for. Moore's approach of the ball yesterday was not great, but it was definitely not the worst I've ever seen. That award goes to Gibbs-White in the shootout vs Forest. Multiple stutters, during each of which MGW looked exactly where he was going to shoot. Forest's keeper may as well have walked to his right-hand post and just sat there, it was that obvious.
All that said, if Moore can address that iffy technique, he should be fine. I get the feeling he probably goes that side of goal a lot with pens, so perhaps should try going the other side next time to try and break the habit. If we change taker, then I know Burrows has scored a few, and I'd fancy Arblaster to take a good pen as well.
