He was on trial with Brentford recently. Assume that’s over now?

Haven't seen anything saying it's over. It's possible that we're both in the running, and he has to decide. Brentford could be offering a low wage for a back up player, whereas we'll be offering a low wage with more chances to play

Doesn’t actually change the point.
I think it does, it changes it from a fact (that I know you can be precious about), to an opinion. An opinion that is easily formulated based on the current narrative, but could also be inaccurate.

And Alan Nixon broke it yesterday
Dummett is according to my son in law who is a big Newcastle fan a good player but always injured. In other words Ciaran Clarke Mk 2 and another in a long line of playeres we sign who are crocks and never play for us. Mind you we rely mainly on Everton for those. Ebrell and Tom Davies to name but two

Can you name another two?

Jon O’Connor is one. Not sure he was a crock, but certainly went missing somewhere.
“Cruelly injuries struck the youngster down. In February 1998 he joined Sheffield United but made only made three starts and two substitute appearances in two-and-a-half years. In October 2000 he joined Blackpool on a free transfer but played only 13 times, before retiring due to persistent glandular fever problems”

There seems to be a distinct lack of urgency to get anyone else in, so I am not getting my hopes up on any more incomings before January.

Crackers.

How do you know there’s no urgency?

The problem with urgency is that it can often lead to desperation and we don’t want that. United need to stay calm and consider all options including free agents.

I hear you, but as things now stand we are only a couple of injuries away from total desperation in both attack and defence, and based on yesterdays lack of action, if there is any urgency to sign players, it is hard to see where.

Had we been trying to get players in right up to the deadline I would be less critical, but Wilder was told in advance there would be no more business, despite that he had already signalled that he needed 3 more. The fact that we haven't even used up our loan spots is also worrying under the circumstances.

I hope the club proves me wrong and brings in a couple of experienced and versatile free agents in the next week or so. I really do.

There will be a reason he's not been snapped up yet. Either fitness related, a feeling that his legs have gone, holding out for a Prem offer or, most likely, wage demands.

I could see either a top half Champ or top 4 Scot Prem side eventually persuading him but I doubt he'd be a cheap signing.

Always think that some wages are better than no wages..... might just be me though?

Legs have gone? Didn’t look like his legs had gone in the Euros, even surrounded by utter shite with no ability to keep the ball

I'll stick with the wanting to move to Italy. But you'd think it might have happened by now.

Must be wages, can't see him in Premier, unless a Bournemouth come in, so don't pay over the odds for someone who'll be past his best when we go up

well we were rumoured to be interested in him wonder if talks are ongoing and maybe the reason we didnt sign a striker on deadline day

Who does he replace?
That’s the question.

Because he won’t be coming here on good wages to sit in the bench or wait for an injury.

He will want at least 2 years, likely three.
Similar to Moore that means gaining a contract with no future sale value.

This will not even be a consideration for the club, Peck is cover for Blaster and Vini.
Davies they hope from October.
