Souza off!?

Nobody likes losing, and I find it difficult to single out Souza's performance and attitude when you could say the same of everyone on the pitch. Souza is just one of those players that people focus on. If we play bad, Souza gets blamed for having a bad attitude. I just think it's a bit of a shallow view of what happens in a team.
I liked him for part of the season, he was decent in spells. It’s nothing personal. He was just shocking at other times and he perhaps is more passionate than others. In brief when things go badly he can be a sulky twat. Like a child.

But when things go well, he’s a very very passionate player, like tonight.

I can see exactly why he’s not captain, he’s not level headed enough when things are good or bad…

But I think he’s going to be an interesting one to have around this season

Hmmmm people also don’t read a statement in the context. Read what I said again… but this time read the paragraph not just the bit you want to jump on…

As I said, wasn’t fit, wasn’t up to speed of the premier league… you’ve just said he went off that game with cramp… which suggests he wasn’t fit 😂😂😂😂
“He started poorly”. Did I miss something? Maybe something you didn’t write but thought of instead?

One good game, now everyone can start worrying about us selling him instead of how we can't rid of him.

Amazing what a difference a few days can make isn't it. Its almost like there was nowt to worry about int first place isn't it.

Indeed. It was one good performance, and that's all for now. He needs to do it week in week out.

But what I will also say is that tonight, as he has done all pre season, he actually looks to be enjoying his football.

You appear to have missed a lot.

I quantified why I made that statement literally in the sentence after and you also confirmed what I wrote with your statement about cramp…

So it was all there written down in front of you but you chose to ignore the context in trying to support your argument…

Living the Vinni redemption arc. Consistency will be key, no matter which way his future goes. Hope it's with us.

Makes you wonder how we are placed to keep this squad plus Cooper and a couple more frees/loans.

Whichever way you place Archer, you can’t have it both ways.

So either we paid - net of around 36m euros (transfermarkt) or we paid out about 15m last year offset against a net surplus of 33m this year or around 16m.

There are obvious shortcomings in their approach. Jebbo left end of contract but he wasn’t ’free’ as per their figures, we got around 2m Euros for him, notwithstanding the fees for Berge and Ndiaye look low and the fees for Hamer and Souza look high.

Probably fair to say that over the two year period we are pretty flat.

Now teams tend to have to sell a player if they go down. But that is usually on the back of a decent net spend the season before. We didn’t do that at all.

We have sold Bogle, Osula for minimum 15m rising to 22m potentially. Decent chance we may get some uptick from Berge. It would be nice if Calvert-Lewin moved to get us a decent 5m-ish though that has gone quiet.

This trading plus the draconian shedding of big earners ought to mean we can keep Souza and Anel if we chose to.

What a difference eh.

See what he’s like if we’re 0-2 down at home though…
Exactly my concern about him. Is he a flat track bully? Looks great against poor teams, but can’t handle it at a higher level and lets his head drop? I think that any potential Premier League buyers will be pondering that question.
Either way up, if he keeps that form and attitude up, then I’d love him to stay because he looks class at this level.

As I've said before we want Mogan Gibbs white in exchange or the deals off.
PS. your paying half his wages as well

Anyone fancy dragging up the first few pages of this thread? 🤣

His attitude at times last season was absolutely terrible.

As I’ve said many times. He started poorly. Wasn’t fit and the speed of the premier league was something he took time to adjust to.

There was a player in there though and that period towards the end of Heckys reign, or there abouts, he was picking up fitness and form. That’s perhaps the time he was looking better than others around him… it was 3-5 games

After that, his form dipped, his shoulders dropped and he just seemed to be dragging other players down. Shrugging, not chasing back, giving balls away. It was very real.

Around this time, the article came out

The rest of the season he was part of the shambles where we were outclassed, outrun and out fought.
Hope he does very well

If he bosses 80% of the teams in this league, that'll be great.

If he's a flat track bully, who cares, 3 points is 3 points.

It's safe to say I haven't been a fan, but he was good last night. Credit where credit is due.

Exactly, you can get 108 points by knocking the piss out of the non-top-six teams.

Doesn't matter how the points come!

Literally states “loan” 😂😂
No it doesn't. It states loan not "loan". People use loan when they mean loan. People use "loan" when they don't literally mean loan. I tried to write it similar to "so called loan", that's why you would have seen the use of loan and "loan" in my original message, trying to differentiate the two.

Love the fact that you've completely ignored all the facts and tried to win the argument by attempting to show that I used a word incorrectly.

Classic internet argument.

Reyt 😂😂😂

Fulham in for Berge so assume their pursuit of Souza is over

souza needs to stop showboating if he concentrated on his game more he could be one of the best midfielders in the championship for what its worth i still think he will be sold if any decent offer comes in

Wilder should have taken him off at HT as he was on a yellow and had clearly pissed the ref off.
Agree. As he was being cautious about getting a second yellow we lost a lot of bite in midfield then too. - this made it easier for QPR to get control of midfield.
Maybe if Shackleton was on the bench and match fit he might have changed it earlier.
