I can only assume ( based on the Peterborough chairman tweet ) that we expected the takeover to be finalised before the sale had to be finalised, this did not happen and subsequently assume that the Prince stepped in to fund it. Possibly on the basis that he got his money back from the sale of someone , I.e Osula.
We’ve sold Bogle £6m / Traore £3/4m / Osula £10m = region of £20m in sales.

Appreciate some will need to go to the deficit but we’ve also released 10/11 players on top of that.

I’ve no idea why there’s no money in the kitty to get a squad together. Without selling a player we needed 7/8 in this summer. We’ve sold 3 now and signed 6.

Crazy, next week is a big week & we don’t have time on our side

Yes, the majority of clubs will be selling clubs, but there's a difference between someone like Peterborough, who correctly play hardball, understand the potential of their players and will scratch and claw for every penny if they do sell, and the likes of us who will assume the worst at every opportunity and sell on the cheap at the first time of asking for fear of missing a market
It's hardly on the cheap.

Do you think he’s gone cheaply?

"Led by new sporting director, Paul Mitchell"...

As in, our ex-Paul Mitchell ??
Yes the man who recommended most of the shit players we signed over the last couple of seasons, can imagine the Geordies in a couple of years saying what a load of garbage that Osula was from Sheff Utd. They had our pants down with that one " Liverpool style ".

Difficult one because on the one hand I'd have liked to have seen him have a real go this season at poorer defences as last year, for all the lack of composure at the final moment, there were times when he genuinely worried premier league defenders with his pace and stature.

Put that in a proper team and give him chance to develop and he could become a very good premier league player.

On the other hand he could go out on loan this season in the championship, do next to nothing and newcastle have got a £10m dud on their hands for the next 5 years.

It's a gamble they can afford to take, it's not really one we can under the present owner (and potentially the next owners).

It’s always disappointing to see young players with potential leave the club, but shit happens. That’s football, clubs with bigger budgets will always do this.

If you’d told me Newcastle were going to sign Osula this summer and asked me to guess the fee, I’d probably said £5m plus add ons. So I can’t be disappointed with £10m with the potential for £15m.

I wouldn't even be entertaining any offers unless they are substantially higher than what is reported. He has three years left on his deal and is coming into a year where there is a significant chance that he has a good enough season for his value to solidly increase.

No, wrong Paul Mitchell

What do you think a fair market valuation would be? Also as the takeover hasn’t happened and may never where does the cash come for the rest of the squad rebuild we need?

For all those saying this is a gamble by Newcastle, adjusted for means it's about the same as the gamble we took on Ryan Oné. They found some small change in an old sock under the squeaky floorboard behind the kitchen dresser and have decided to have a flutter with it.

My bad, not the useless blue and white pig that helped trying to take us back years.
This one came from Monaco.

One that takes into account Osula's age, contract situation, attributes, position and potential. £10m isn't it. As for the rest of the "squad rebuild", we have enough permanents over the line and would be perfectly fine going into the season with just Cooper and loans on top of what we have. I am quite clearly on record as not being afraid to play our younger players because "not Championship ready", the squad is more than strong enough to consolidate as it is

What do think would be a figure you could accept for him to go?
Without this cash how do we buy Cooper?

The reality is that most people here accept this transfer, to varying degrees. You can bemoan the loss of yet another talented youngster for a fee way short of what they’d fetch if they reach their potential, while also acknowledging that we need the money. It’s just a fairly demoralising situation to be in for those of us who think the lad has potential which ultimately won’t be seen in an SUFC shirt.

It would need to be completely silly money. I wouldn't want to put a figure on it as selling him wouldn't even be in my mind until something completely absurd is on the table. I'd know it when I saw it. As for how to buy Cooper, last I checked we've sold and released a bunch of players of late?

I can see I’m not getting anywhere, I’m not trying to be awkward I’m just trying to understand your position here, clearly you don’t want him to go, but I’m not getting why if clearly we don’t have the money to sign cooper, wether you or I agree with that it’s where we’re at, no one has bid for Anel, Souza which I think we had counted on, we’ve signed 6 decent players who will be on a fair bit, if we invest the sum we get in wisely and get enough to take us over the line next season, I appreciate no one has a crystal ball, would the pay out be worth it then?

Shame. Was looking forward to seeing him develop with us at a lower league level this season after some promising cameos in pre season. Understandable though with cash flow issues and maybe the disappointment of losing him will be outweighed with the signings of some promising others. It hurts more when it's a youngster that goes but the incomings this pre season so far look promising and we have to sometimes see the bigger picture no matter how disappointing the sale. GLTTL, sorry we were denied seeing your breakthrough season with the Blades.

This begs the question, what fees are we asking for Anel and Souza? Because I suspect if we got a bit more realistic, they could have been gone by now and there'd be no 'urgent' need to raise cash by selling someone like Osula

But 10-15m will never be a disaster for him, no matter what. He's had no impact at first team level for us and could go either way

We will be stronger this season for selling him, that seems certain. But it is a shame it's him we're having to sell. I was looking forward to watching him at championship level, but so be it

It's pretty fucking simple - I wouldn't sell high ceiling first team players who are contracted long term whose value I cannot see depreciating in the next twelve months without a Godfather level offer on the table
