Ndiaye, Jebbo, Osula, Lankshear is the best group of academy strikers we’ve had in the modern era by such a wide margin it may as well be a chasm and the output for the first team looks like it’s going to be just over 1 season of Ndiaye, a few scattered appearances from Jebbo and Osula and under 20 million pounds that’s a poor return
Alternatively that’s 30-35m we’ve created from Academy investment, which is an excellent effort.

What would we have done without it?

It’s not unreasonable to expect something from Brewster finally, though we seem to have chosen a system which will only have one main striker and that’s going to be Moore.

Not disputing we apparently need the cash and it’ll mean the academy is operating at a profit for years to come but it might still be a return which is reasonably way below what could’ve been expected

True but I suppose you can only get what is offered.

At the moment if this gets Cooper over the line and perhaps the rest of the team completed then that just seems more sure fire than hoping Osula has a breakthrough season.

Nice to have both but I think we know where we are at the moment so this is the reality isn’t it?

Difficult one for me and much depends on what we bring in with the money we receive. If we use it to get the players we need to make the squad competitive it’s probably a good deal. Equally I suppose if it fills a financial black hole and keeps us with our head above water I guess that’s good business too. If neither of those then it makes no sense.

It’s definitely the reality it’s happening. However consistently selling assets for poor returns isn’t the route to success and the academy isn’t just going to keep churning these lads off a production line we’ve had an almost unprecedented output from the academy in recent years that’s not sustainable even for the best academies.

As it stands are we in a position to take long term decisions? If there's no takeover, we need a team building and at least some squad behind it. That has to be funded somehow.
Sometimes the short term decision is the only one available.

If we are at the point that we need to force a sale, then there are other 'assets' that should be way ahead in the for sale list than a young striker with loads of potential on a decent length contract whose value is only going to increase in the coming season.

Similar to DCL for me. Could develop into a decent player, but the money would allow us to strengthen in other areas. Newcastle are happy to take a punt on his potential safe in the knowledge that they can afford to take a loss on him if he doesn't pan out. Personally I have yet to see anything that persuades me that Osula will be a decent player at Premier league level, plenty of players have looked great at u23 level but never made the step up.

In the day and age that Rasmus Hojlund is a £70m player after scoring a few goals then a 6’3 athletic, fast as fuck player with good feet who’s unplayable at u23’s is a steal at £10m

If he sorts his decision making out he’ll be unbelievable.
And if he doesn't?

Do we have time to wait and see if he fulfils his potential? I reckon we’re at least five (six now) players short. If we need to sell to get closer to fixing that I suppose it makes some sense.
Takeover can’t be close though can it

If this bid has not happened and we all were asked to put a value on Osula, I bet not many would say more than 3m..

Maybe no one else is offering anything yet - and we have deals we want to sort out quickly?

We can only sell other 'assets' once an acceptable bid is made. If the only other bid we currently have is for Arblaster (for example) what should we do? Wait and hope we get a bid for Anel or Souza? It may be last minute and we're stuffed as per last season.

They're paying for his potential, which is extremely high
Some people just cannot see this, they cannot see potential and what natural progression will be in a young kid. For them a player has to be banging them in now to be any sort of player.

If Osula bangs them in in the future which he will the same people will be saying well we never saw that in him, he was shit for us. No he wasn’t!! Everything is there that you would want in a young striker and he has shown this, also scored for fun at U23 and for the Danes. Just needed a little bit more experience and composure for the 1st team that’s all. Would have been an absolute beast this season ☹️

Until we become (if ever), a permanent fixture in the top flight, then we’ll always be faced with this decision; sacrifice someone with potential for someone who is ready made now.

And every time we make the decision we are seemingly about to make, we take two steps back in trying to become said permanent fixture

Agreed but, if we need the money now to build the squad and if no one has put a bid in for Souza,Anel.or Grybis, what would you expect the club to do ? .

We , I.e. Wilder could consider that the players he has lined up to bring in are more value to the squad than Osula.
We possibly cannot afford to wait for offers on other more preferable sales to materialise or we lose the option on potential new signings
The problem is how long it takes us to actually sign players. The farce of Burrows was embarrassing

That’s modern football for supporters of all the clubs outside the top 10-15 clubs in the UK.

Yes, the majority of clubs will be selling clubs, but there's a difference between someone like Peterborough, who correctly play hardball, understand the potential of their players and will scratch and claw for every penny if they do sell, and the likes of us who will assume the worst at every opportunity and sell on the cheap at the first time of asking for fear of missing a market

I can only assume ( based on the Peterborough chairman tweet ) that we expected the takeover to be finalised before the sale had to be finalised, this did not happen and subsequently assume that the Prince stepped in to fund it. Possibly on the basis that he got his money back from the sale of someone , I.e Osula.

Osula may well be a good prospect but a striker who doesn't score reminds me of an old VIZ advert..

....TV for sale - No sound or picture - otherwise perfect .

I don’t think that’s happened much in the PA era, more so under McCabe. The ones who’ve gone for cheap such as Lankshear and Jebbo we’ve had little to no negotiating power for contract reasons etc.
