Grbic

I have no idea why certain fans seem to constantly need to have a scapegoat player to abuse. What is to be gained by booing a player and constantly abusing him. We have spent money on Grbic, how about laying off him and seeing if he can regain his confidence, rather than waiting/hoping he makes a mistake, so fans have an excuse to lay into him again. The lad came from a steady number at Athletico Madrid to try and establish himself as a number one, signing a long contract. There’s no evidence he doesn’t want to be here. It’s as though some fans are enjoying any slight mistake, so they can find an excuse to abuse him.

If he plays between 8 - 15 games at the start of the season we could be relegated..

Every opposition player will be shooting on sight, centre halves will be scoring from outside the box..

Some are being nice and I don't support the bullying as well, but.

Would you want him in the net against the pigs 🐖.. ask yourself that?
Surely the question should be “ which of our keepers would you prefer to have in goal against Wednesday “

For me Nyron Nosworthy is the undisputed worst player ever to pull on a United shirt and keep getting picked.

Next would be Ivo Grbic then Jay McEverly.

For years Lee Baxter held the title, but these three have surpassed him in their drossness.
I’ll give you Nosworthy and raise you Dean Hammond. Everyone could see his legs had totally gone but good old Nigel Adkins not only gave him a last unwarranted payday but did his best to convince us he was the real deal. Biggest wage thief at United in the last 10 years

Well be in trouble with gribic in net. Should never have been last night from that shot. Fair dos if it's a screamer but wasn't in corner or tops bins. No disrespect to the lad who scored as fair play to him. But we are going to be coming up against better players than him (again no disrespect as still playing at a decent level) just worries me. Every attack on us will get me very worried

I agree

But he's absolutely shite

I have seen a miracle - He just made a save !! From Jesus - that is almost biblical -Jesus saves ! Or maybe that’s blasphemy?
Does anyone else remember, graffiti in Fitzalan Sq "Jesus saves", under which a sharp witted blade wrote," But Currie scores from the rebound".
Brought back a boyhood memory reading your post👍😊

The version I remember (still in Fitzalan Square) was "...but Anderson scores the rebound" as in Peter Anderson, which was quite something.

I don't want to finish below Wednesday nor be relegated if that clown plays games.

Already I don't deal with Sheffield derby's well so if he started against them lot I think I'd struggle to watch.

It's not even poor form or confidence he genuinely is SHIT. Usually a PRO footballer who's average/crap you can see a slight attribute they have but Grbic hasn't one.

Happy to hear what you've seen/heard that gives you any confidence in him?

Nah, I don’t respect the opinion of anyone who defends Grbic or says he’s ’not as bad as some people have made out’. Like mate, what have been watching, cus I don’t know
what you’re struggling with when it comes to what a competent professional goalkeeper should be able to do.

Sometimes football isn’t that subjective, if you can’t grasp and see something so basic then I don’t know what to tell you.

If you’re defending Grbic, you’re just talking bollocks. There’s no debate to be had about him.

He’s indisputably the worst goalkeeper in living memory to play at least ten games for us and imo the worst player I’ve seen for us in over thirty years of following this often embarrassing circus of a football club.

Considering the shite this club turfs out decade in decade out, for any player to be one of the worst players we’ve had is an astounding thing to behold.

Said all Ive got to say, I don’t recall saying anything that would be considered to be bullying but in today’s snowflake world you never know. So here are my last words on him.

He’s not good enough, I’ve seen nothing to suggest he ever will be

How else can fans express their criticism of the recruitment of this bloke ?
We all know that he is a very poor goalie the vocals might be directed at the player but the message is clearly aimed at management in the hope they ship him out.
I can't believe he is still here but then I can't believe anyone from the club actually watched him before buying him.
In fact there was hardly any chance to watch him coz he hardly played in Madrid.
We've gone from two England goalies in Hendo & Ramsdale to one who should not even be a pro goalie.
It's like the club heard the criticism of some of the dross brought in summer 23 and thought to itself in January "we can do worse , you know !"

I think the club will hold out to see if they can dupe a Spanish club into signing him. If the window passes and he’s still here I reckon the club pays him up.

To sum up this transfer:
‘You know that keeper we paid £2.5m for from Atletico Madrid, in order to make us more solid in the premier league and give us a good goalkeeper to depend on for the next few years?

The next six months will show that he isn’t even good enough to be a third choice goalkeeper at championship level’

It's hard to see him turn the corner when he doesn't even seem to have the fundamentals right. Good positioning should be the absolute basics for any goalkeeper at this level. He's conceding goals that should be easy saves for a GK with his size and reach.

How did he manage to con Atletico Madrid into signing him, keeping him around for 4 years and even playing him in some La Liga and Champions League games? Or does their defensive system make any goalkeeper look good?

It should take a competent scout about 5 minutes to identify all the basic shortcomings of Gbric in order to declare him unfit for purpose.

I haven't the energy to type them all here , but unfortunately the lad simply can't do his job or even look like he might be capable with coaching.

I have never seen a more glaring example of a player who just does not look like he's suitable for his position.

I thought that once CW had to bring Wes back into the team (after gobbing off about Gbric being no.1) that Gbric would be the first player to be shown the door.

It is so typical of us that after the clearest failure in recruitment , recognised so promptly by the embarrassed manager , he's still here.

Apart from anything else , the effect on the rest of the team must be depressing.

Tell every club in Europe that "he hasn't settled here".

Put him on eBay or gumtree.

Write off the fee , pay up his contract and wave bye bye.

It would be cruel to keep playing him.

Cruel to the team
Cruel to us fans.
And cruel to him.

We can't start the season with him in goal - we'll never catch up

Wilder and his coaching staff will see Grbic in training on an almost daily basis, which fans don’t. They are surely capable of being able to form a decision on if he is useless, or just struggling with a lack of confidence and if has the potential to improve with coaching, without fans booing him, to try to influence Wilders decision on Grbic. It was a massive mistake throwing him straight into a hopeless team, after just arriving in a new country and after not playing much, due to being a number two at Athletico Madrid. Wilder does not need the fans to boo and constantly get onto Grbic to influence him making a decision on him, he can surely reach this decision himself. All this is doing is damaging his confidence further and it puzzles me as to what is to gained by doing so.

It could also be the case that Wilder wanted a keeper having pissed Wes off and this is what we ended up with. He now has no choice but to play him.

He seems to have no real traits that you see in a good goalkeeper, the fact he was put behind a terrible defence just showed him up for what he is.

Hopefully we’re working on moving him out.

Hi Ivo, thanks for the memories, but you're shite.

Usually I'd totally agree with this type of sentiment towards a player. However, in the case of Grbic I simply can't. He is so bad it is imperative that he's gone. He is shocking. He is not a goalkeeper. It's not like he's been unlucky or had worldy after worldy scored against him; he doesn't do any of the basics required of a goalkeeper at anything above low semi pro level. Whoever recruited him???? Talk about sold a pup!

Anyway, surely Wilder knows the score on this. I can imagine the pressure from above to 'make it work' but we simply can't afford to go down that route. It's going to cost us but if you're in a hole it's better to put the shovel down and stop digging.

Think we need to lay off Grbic, bullying is never good for anyone so it isn’t.

Mate, he doesn’t read the forum so he doesn’t

Not to mention he’s a 6 foot 4 wealthy grown man so he is, so even if he did read the forum I wouldn’t give a fleas foreskin of a fuck so I wouldn’t

by all accounts we are getting that Cooper from Plymouth, so chances are Grbic will be moved on seen as Davies has re-signed.

Yes. Along with ironic cheers whenever he touched the ball. Was pathetic from some supporters
I just dont understand this, fans like that need binning. Grbic is still a bloody person just because he's on a football pitch, I bet he cant wait to get out as much as we want him gone.

During the GK crossing warm ups before games, I've never seen a keeper catch the ball in front of his face instead of with his two hands fully outstretched above his head.

So the height at which he claims the ball was much lower than E.g Wes/Davies despite being much taller.
