I was not expecting us to have a hope in hell of signing O'Hare so I am shocked and stunned that he's come to us.

In Kiefer Moore we'll have an adequate replacement for McBurnie. He may not be a prolific or reliable goal scorer, but neither was McBurnie, but at least Moore is a proper hold up/link up man.

I'm slowly staring to feel more optimistic. None of this changes my feelings towards the current ownership.

Agreed .

Only a couple of weeks ago I was deeply apprehensive and disturbed about our prospects for next season , but these two signings coupled with encouraging performances from the likes of Shackleton and several others in the pre season friendly have greatly improved my perspective in that respect .

Having said that , it’s clear that if we are to be a force to be reckoned with we need to bring in at least two reliable defenders and particularly ones who are experienced in playing in a back four , since that apparently is part of the formation we are looking to play .

Even against such low level opposition as York City , our efforts to do so were laughably poor exemplified not only by the goal we gave away but on several other occasions .

Based on the standards of our recruitment so far , I’m quietly confident this will happen and given the shitshow that is happening around them , all credit due to those involved .

worrall would be one of those centre backs once weve sold anel feel sure that deal is already done seems like he wants to come here and dont forget weve still got the loan market to explore with up to 5 loans can see us buying worrall and loaning a premier league centre back to partner him

Hopefully some good news from CW tonight on incomings.. we desperately need players in this week. Mainly a keeper and defenders.

Out - 17
In - 4

We need to be cautious with the youngsters too. Ideally we should be looking at loaning them out so they can get first team football. It'll only hamper their progress if they're just here to make up numbers

Even if we brought in 5 or 6 more this window, we will still have lightened the load to the tune of 8 or 7 players. That in itself should give ample room for the best of the younger lads to make a claim for some regular first team football. 5/6 more would be about right I think for incoming players and would give us space to freshen things up in January.

Rushworth, Gilchrist, Worrall, Burrows, centre midfielder (Dozzell?), and a wide attacking player (David Brooks would be nice).

What about a couple of strikers

Hello Blades, long time no post.

You (and we) have been mentioned re our old defender Harry Souttar. Percy is very reliable for Stoke-related stuff.

Souttar pros: good on the ball, can play out and ping passes, excellent in the middle of a 3 (which I think you play?)
Souttar cons: a bit lumbering on the turn, susceptible to a ball over the top, doesn't look comfortable in a four (which we play)

Overall upper end Champo defender, could do a lot worse.

18 players out & 4 in so far! Even if we only have half the injuries of last season our squad is in no way enough for a 46 game Championship season. We also lack a couple of leaders on the pitch who will not allow a capitulation if we concede an early goal.

So far I would say they have done and excellent job. They have recruited strong Championship quality and I believe we are at least top half at this stage. In pre season the youth have been given a chance (due to lack of numbers) and there are definitely some very decent backups or break through players.

We have also seen that the unknowns who were signed (like Shackleton and McCallum) look very good. Well done Wilder and Knill, keep this up and we are real contenders.

If all fails with management maybe Wilder should become our director of football 😂.

Agreed though, for what he’s been able to do he’s done really well so far.

What deluded nonsense we’ve played. two teams 70 plus places lower than us and one team 24 places below us
On that you are saying mid table at least 😂😂

Very pleased with out dealings so far. We've recruited to replace some of the gaps created by all the summer departures, and the ones who've come in look positive.

Shackleton - solid utility player, looked very tidy at RB - unfortunate to have picked up an injury on Sat but we'll see how he gets on
McCallum - excellent option providing width down the left. Pacy full back who seems to have a decent cross on him
O'Hare - looks the closest we'll get to an Iliman replacement. Extremely competent in tight spaces, intelligent passer, and showed great desire to get his goal vs Harrogate
Moore - perfect signing for the tactic we've been playing in pre-season. Big strong forward, good link up play to the supporting midfielders, can carry the ball forward himself - would have loved his header on Sat to go in, but I think we'll see great things from him
Burrows - can't complain about signing the most creative player in a division last season really. Maybe some questions about his defensive capabilities, but has history of playing more advanced roles than FB - in the 22/23 season he mostly played as an attacking midfielder for P'Boro.

Really need to focus on a goalkeeper for now. Davies has always been something of a question mark, and Grbic is a lost cause at this point. I'd be very happy with the lad Cooper from Plymouth if we could get that deal done - doubts there for now of course about funding, but maybe we'll work something out.

After that, it should be a right back. We've lost Baldock and Bogle this summer, and the only replacement we have so far is Shackleton, who we might sometimes have to call on to take a midfield spot. Beyond that we are depending on Curtis/Seriki, and while they've done fine in pre-season, that's no proof that they can thrive at present in the Championship. Would like to see someone with experience to come in and be a reliable option in that position.

Then, another CB. Only having Anel/Trusty/JLT as true first team options is a bold choice to say the least, especially when Anel could end up leaving. I'd want at least one to come in and provide extra competition, but I'd probably only be comfortable here if we were to sign 2

Beyond that we desparately need wingers. Every friendly so far, we have used inverted wingers cutting inside on their strong foot (e.g. Slimane on the left), so we need players in who are naturally capable in those roles. We have nobody to push Brooks on the right hand side at present - maybe Hampson but I feel that might be a lot to ask of someone without experience at this level. I think most desirable purchases would be out of reach financially for us, so would probably have to look at a loan.
