The issue with McBurnie is he looks like a cross between Wurzle Gummidge and Cat Weazle. Also his running style is similar to Steve Clarridge, he hobbles when he runs and grimaces like he’s in pain or knackered. Also he likes to get into arguments with opposition players and even the ref, meaning he’ll pick up stupid booking.

So on 1st glance he looks shit.

However he is better than he looks, you would assume he’d be a target man but he’s good decent feet and awareness around him meaning he’s excellent dropping deeper.

Altho he had games where he’s been poor in the Championship he’s also had games in the Premier league where he’s been impressive. Also apparently he’s very popular in the dressing room and has a competitive/ winners mentality, so he’ll positively influence some of the other players.

I’m not his biggest fan but I do see his qualities. He’s a great option to have. Think him and Moore playing together will be right handful next season.

So if the price/ salary is right, then it’s a yes from me.

Hi Stegosaurus here,

The equivalent of the Championship. He's a perfectly viable option as a free transfer. I expect he'll go to Leeds or a potential rival, whilst we're getting the coppers together to give McBarndoor a contract.

And he then went on to play for Barcelona. Would McBarndoor ever play for Barcelona?
How many Segunda matches have you watched? (Be careful, I've seen loads).

If we play a more attacking style of football I think mcburnie will have a great season. I'm thinking back to early in the promotion season with heckingbottom where we went for it a bit more and he was scoring for fun. For the majority of his time here we have played a brand of football that didn't create much. Often hitting the ball long to mcburnie and not playing to his strengths. Despite that he has put in alot of good performances. The only question is his ability to stay fit. If he was contracted to another team we wouldn't be able to afford him.

Out of interest which other clubs have been queuing up to sign him on a free?
We have no idea. Our released statement said we were still in talks with him so perhaps it was always takeover/outgoings dependant and he wasn't looking to move?

I hope he comes back I really do. Just imagine Roygbiv view from every week when we've stuck him and Moore up front together for the last 20 to shithouse some points. "Anti football bastards. That Robinson thinking he's Rory Delap." It's going to be gold ladies and gents

The weirder thing is that Roy is going to have to a view from... Sheffield United.

Hi Stegosaurus here,

And then went to play 44 times for Barcelona. How many times has McBarndoor played for Barcelona?
Hi sore arse

How many goals did he score in those 44 games ? 5

So yes prolific for a club of your stature.

Reminds of of one of the great view from comments (c/o Southampton fan via Roygbiv).

“Let’s not forget, this is a team with McGoldrick, Sharp and some homeless bloke as it’s strike force, FFS.”

If he is staying a good decision, ironically he fits with what seems to be the ‘new’ identity Wilder is aiming for.

I don't have any stats to back this up but I bet he's cleared more balls off the line for us than any other player since Harry Maguire.

I hear he might not be the only one re-signing

Hi Stegosorearse here,

Irrelevant. Christophe Dugarry wasn't a prolific goal scorer. Doesn't mean he was a bad player.

Braithwaite also scored 22 goals last season in the Segunda Division. That's a good tally. Fact.

Another fact--if it was announced tomorrow that we were signing him, he'd suddenly be a top striker.

I'm going to regret interacting with you, but how the fuck are you equating the Segunda division with the Champ?

I think that McB really seemed to mature over the past 12-18 months. Maybe somebody had a word and said ‘either grow up or throw it all away’. He appeared to take McAtee under his wing, so maybe he is someone who thrives on responsibility and could be a good captain or vice captain

Got himself a mrs and had a kid together - that probably helped him settle down a bit and kept him out of mischief
