With Moore now at the club, I can see Mcburnie dropping deeper and playing close to a 10. He's had to play so long with United as a target man on his own. Moore being our natural focal point should mean that we can get more out of Mcburnie and he can be a link man.

I would suggest that we need pace around him though, so a priority for me would be two wingers to compliment the likes of Brooks, O'hare and Osula
Think he played a bit deeper that season he tore up the league at Swansea, didn't he? Or am I misremembering? So long ago now. I seem to remember a lot of talk in his first season with us that "he's not really a target man, we're playing him out of position", but that role just sort of stuck down the years.

21 games league games last year 38 the year before. I wish our other injury prone players were that injury prone!!
21. Exactly. Unless you've been under a rock you'll have noticed the majority of our injury prone players have been shipped out. A wise move by the club as long as adequate replacements are found.

21 is hardly a crock deserving of a pay as you play deal like some are trying to frame it though.

Hi Stegosaurus here,

The equivalent of the Championship. He's a perfectly viable option as a free transfer. I expect he'll go to Leeds or a potential rival, whilst we're getting the coppers together to give McBarndoor a contract.

And he then went on to play for Barcelona. Would McBarndoor ever play for Barcelona?
Hi Stegosaurus here

First Lowe, then our top striker. We're becoming Wednesday's feeder club
?????

Would be over the moon with Mcburnie resigning. Especially now we also have Moore to cover when Mcburnie isn't available.

His scoring record for us is very respectable, especially considering his entire time with us we've played with wing backs who can't cross a ball.

As others have pointed out. There's no one we could sign on a free transfer who's better than him.

Top end of the pitch is starting to look promotion worthy....

Just need to sort out the bottom end now.

Bet ya he bags double figures?
He might. I doubt it but it is of course possible. Maybe even probable IF he gets the minutes / gets pen duties etc.

More to being a number 9 than just goals though. Not dismissing its importance but overall performance levels a much better barometer.

McB just doesn’t have the tools for the job.

You can complain about Oli for his injuries. You can criticise him for his off field behaviour. You can even criticise him for his goal return given his actual ability.

But you can't criticise him for his overall performance levels when he plays. The idea he only brings goals is absolute madness.

It's an absolute no brainer. Is Worth at least 5 million, so that's 5 million we don't have to spend on replacing him. The rumoured contract length is perfect if we have the right level of ambition once (hopefully) promoted. 2 years and an option. Get promoted, keep for one year, then move on.
Agreed and we've got him on 'our terms' Given he will have taken a sizeable pay cut I'm guessing his compensation has a big performance based upside that should be an incentive and mean he might cut out the silly stuff.

Moore/McBurnie
Osula/Brewster
One/Marsh

Looking well set for a front two, or a one with three behind

I agree, but not sure you ever have RE Oli Mac. Whenever he's played well, you've cited goals, or his lack thereof in a game as the reason you can continue with the slagging.

He has good feet and can link a game very well, and actually he's shown that against far better opposition than we'll meet in the champ. Would be a really good signing.

Hi Stegosaurus here,

And then went to play 44 times for Barcelona. How many times has McBarndoor played for Barcelona?

Mcburnie has got as many Barcelona appearances as you’ve got notches on your belt.

Remember its about the squad not just eleven, different players bring different skills and experience, the best teams in the world generally have the best squads not the first eleven.

Even if they don't play up top together, imagine bringing McBurnie on for the last 20/30 when soaking up pressure and him and Moore just eating up all the long balls and crosses like seasoned CBs.

Excited if this is true, because it’ll be the first time for a while we legitimately have the ability to rotate a target man upfront. The added bonus is once teams have had to put up with McBurnie on comes Moore. Be great to have both of them up against those Luton shit houses
