By the looks of it we've room for about 12 players .
On the downside it takes me about 2 months to remember players names so I'm fooked untill about October

You couldn't script this. I thought last seasons pre season was bad but as it stands this one is definitely topping it. I'm starting to get jealous of even the likes of Bristol City and Millwals squad compared to ours!

This is how I see the squad.

18 left, 8 likely to go. That includes Davis and McBurnie as they are still being talked to.

So we’re left with a core of 10. Can play 4-4-2 goal wag???

McBurnie is gone, hence the club announcing that they'll be doing tributes to Osborn, Egan, Jebbison and McBurnie. If they thought McBurnie would be staying then they wouldn't be doing that.

I've mixed feelings on that one.

One the one hand he was £17mil down the drain and not really worth what we paid. His goals return over 5 years was poor overall, with a best of 13 goals in the Championship for a top 2 team, which didn't even make him one of the division's top ten scorers. He even went one whole year without scoring. He's missed a lot of games through injuries and suspensions. Overall he was not a reliable player for goals or for being able to be selected. That said, he's the best we've got and we're unlikely to sign a better replacement when we have no money to spend.

We are in an absolute mess when we're going to miss an average Championship striker and not replace them adequately.

Strap yourself in boys. Unless the takeover happens and the new owners give Wilder some decent funds to spend, we're in for another rough season packed full of disappointment on and off the pitch.

Only Sheffield United could spend 3 seasons out of 5 in the Premier League and walk away broke and with no players left.

If I was Gus Hamer I'd be speaking to my agent and slapping in a transfer request. He's too good for us and I wouldn't begrudge him abandoning this sinking ship.

If your a consortium with a serious amount of money and your buying a club with aspirations of competing in the PL in the next 2 years you have to start building that squad straight away . None of the players we've released or have walked would really fit with that plan , just bench fillers at best with little sell on value .
I'm hoping that's the philosophy and thinking , being ambitious , no passengers .

What's the point of a new era if it looks like the last one .

I hope your right mate, but let's face it, Utds track record of getting things right are fucking abysmal!!

Despite all the hysteria, how many if any in the right hand two columns would people seriously want to keep? Aren’t nearly all of these players ones we’ve all been saying are permanently crocked or permanently crap?

Newbury totally agree....the disquiet amongst most of us is totally down to a lack of incomings not the outgoings. Weve now released over 20 players and not brought one in. Let that sink in, pre season has started and we are 20+ players down with 6 weeks until the season starts .

Some of us don't buy the 'we can't do anything till the takeover is complete' for 2 reasons. Firstly there's no guarantee it will complete and if it does when? this month? next month? Secondly there has to be a crossover between the 2 potential owners, players we want whoever owns the club. They need to be coming in this week to calm everyone's nerves.

We are a fucking disgrace of a football club at the minute.

The season kicks off on 9th August, not tomorrow.

I’m worried too, but we know the reasons why people aren’t coming in. We do need some properly good news this week though. Each week that passes makes next season more and more difficult.

But we've seen it all before.

League One beckons.
 

At least we've released two big earners in Mcburnie & Egan, so frees up a bit more money, though I still think OM might be back as no one in for him yet,
