Egan was sat with his pals Bash and Norwood in the South Stand players area today.

Oli McBurmie did his little warm up but didn’t get on the pitch.

It would have been nice to know one way or another if they were going to be with us next season. So that we could have given them a proper send off.

Over to you two now lads. Hope you both stay but I can’t see it. Feels like you owe us one.

If McB is behind Brewster & Jebbo (they were both brought on before him today) then I can't understand the logic of offering him a contract , especially when he's out injured so often.
Or is this Wilder playing games , not bringing him on coz he hasn't signed the reduced terms ?
So much of what goes on at the club is hard to fathom - why play Archer who definitely won't be here , leaving 3 who will potentially be here, on the bench ?

Mcburnie had a season ending injury and it is still the season, so probably explains why we don't risk him...

We have a year option on Egan so I think he stays.

We don't have any option on McBurnie, I think he leaves.
Egan ?
Does our option include reduced terms after relegation ?
He's getting older & slower.
Whether or not we exercise our option ought to depend on the progress of his recovery from long-term injury and an accurate prognosis of what level of fitness he can achieve.
But knowing us , we'll just keep him.
Which is fine as backup , but not as a starter - we desperately need to recruit a dominant leader for our ragtag defence.

Personally I would release him.

Archer played?

Egan peaked in the 2019 season. Ever since then he's been hit and miss. Anytime he comes up against a pacey striker chasing an over the top ball, he loses them and they go on to score. He was as much at fault for the majority of goals conceded up until he was injured. Egan and Anel were a shambles but fans ignored this as Larouci and Robinson were easier targets. As great as he was once, Egan is another who's in decline. If we keep him next season then he'll need replacing the season after. I'm not that bothered if he stays or goes. I don't do sentimentality when it comes to players. If they give 7/10 4 out of 5 games and are consistent then I'll sing their praises. If they're good one game and garbage the next then I'll question why they're so inconsistent and criticise when due.

When was the last time this happened?

Egan played 90 minutes in the league just 4 times this season. It’s not possible to compare him with the rest of our defenders this season.

Wilder said he could only do 10-15 minutes, but when Lowe had had enough we had to make our final substitutions.
I'm no sports scientist , but I really can't understand how anyone can be fit enough for 10-15 minutes but not more - it just doesn't make sense to me

Plenty of times last season and the season before he got caught out by over the top balls. Quite often Wes saved him or there was a poor finish. Playing a high defensive line doesn't help Egan, it leaves him exposed due to his lack of pace.

Egan is staying, everything' agreed, its positive with McBurnie too, but not 100% yet.
Well if Egan is staying , we need to recruit a dominant leader of a CB to challenge him for his place.
Whilst Egan has been here he has been a shoe-in with no competition for his place
and now that he's older , slower & recovering from a major injury , we simply cannot afford to rely on him being in form & ever-present

Think you could’ve just left it at this.
No , it's bollox mate - fit for 15 mins ?
Wtf ?
If that's the case , why on bench ?
If there simply to provide him with 15 mins matchtime , why not bring him on for 15 mins - after all , the result was not material , nor in doubt in the 2nd half.

100% this
I believe at least 2 new centre halves will be joining this summer
Robbo, Egan, Trusty and 2 others
Wouldnt rule out Trusty leaving either

Because we’d used all of our subs up.

Just because you don’t understand something it doesn’t make it bollocks.

It makes me wonder if that game just confirmed that Mcburnie was going, he's our second top scorer (think BBD has edged him by 1) and he couldn't get off the bench when Brewster and Jebbison both came on.

I meant to type shoot not score, bloody autocorrect.
