Yes we need at least one more striker ..and a flair / pace player ...ideally to replace Duffy ...but in the squad in general ....but the way we set up we desperately need a left wing back with some pace and or attacking ability ...and as we found last year ..it's not Stevens or Lafferty ...teams have sussed us now ..kept the right side quiet and nothing substantial or sustained comes from the left flank .....unless we can turn L Freeman ..( if we got him ) into say wing back home games ..and have one-off the other 2 plodders for maybe tough away games ?!

Nope, we'll go with our plodders thank you very much. Pace is cheating and we're an ethical club.

People said that, and more, about Enda Stevens when he joined. He’s still a good player, despite what the cognoscenti say...

Totally agree. I like Enda. I don't know the reason he become so hesitant when he got in dangerous positions after a great start. Hopefully he'll have enough confidence and energy to do what he's good at all season.

It is an area we could improve on, though I’m amazed that people are already ruling out the possibility that a player could actually improve in the position.

As it stands, we have too players that have shown that at worst they are adequate in the role, and are not injury prone. This is not a hole in the squad that needs priority, and we simply don’t have the resources to upgrade on every single position this window. It’s clear where the gaps are, and these have been mentioned throughout the summer by Wilder. LWB isn’t one of them.

In Enda’s early matches he used to try and take his man on and was generally positive. I was impressed.

HOWEVER I remember he’d occasionally lose the ball up field and teams would counter attack and almost score.
Enda would receive boos from the crowd for being at blame for almost conceding.

So he changed his game, doesn’t take risks taking on his man anymore. Doesn’t make early crosses.
His main focus now seems to be trying not to make mistakes and he plays it safe making sure we keep possession.

True that. I prefer the first one though. If he's high enough up the pitch he should be able to safely lose the ball if you know what I mean...

So rumours circulating that we're NOT exercising Lowe's option.

With RND's injury uncertainty, Larouci going back and Ozzy as a back up at best... assuming that we continue with 3-5-2, who would you like to see us target 🤔

Becomes a priority position to improve if we do indeed stick with our tried and true formation.

Sadly I can't see us signing a lwb. RND will be number one, if injured you've got Osborn, if he's injured you've then still got Trusty. Not ideal maybe on the last front but in the Championship and as third choice I can see that.

All meaning there's more money to spend elsewhere where it's really needed. Centre forward, centre mid, goalkeeper, central defender competition etc.

Signing a left wing back (and any wide player who can cross) has been really needed and been needed for seasons. Because we have had so many players who can play there, we have prioritised other positions where we are short on numbers for the last few years yet it is has continued to be our weakest position each season. For sure potentially having 0 zero goalkeepers and 0 centre forwards needs addressing, but then please sign a decent left back/wing back as priority who can give us an option for seasons. Let's not gamble on RNDs fitness ( and even fit, returning to his previous form) at worst we end up with two good options ( one who can also cover centre half).

Spot on.

Couldn't have put it better myself.

Wouldn't be surprised if we kept Bogle and Norrington-Davies, then had Seriki, Curtis, Buyabu and Osborn as back up. Both Seriki and Buyabu recently signed new contracts, so it's likely they'll be part of the first team squad next season.

It'll mean more funds to invest elsewhere in the squad.

I dont’t think we can ‘make do’ with this position like others are suggesting.

It’s been a weak area for a few years now and we saw with prime Enda what you get from having a decent LWB who can carry the ball and cross as well as do the defensive stuff.

It’s painful to watch when we get targeted in this area because we usually have a square peg in a round hole.

I’d look to get a loan in this position until January. None of the existing options at the club fit the bill.

Seriki and Buyabu are no where near Championship standard yet. It would be suicide to go with them.

Trusty! Lwb.. fucking hell haven't we seen enough of that useless twat!!

Only 3 of them are anywhere near good enough

When Bogle, Osborn and Norrington-Davies are the pick of the bunch then things look bleak. Ozzy is a jack of all sorts, master of nothing, Bogle is a crap defender but good winger, but managers continue to play him in defence where he gets exposed time after time, and Norrington-Davies is a good defender but injury prone.

We need a new right back and left back as well as cover.

This summer's rebuild is a huge job. We need an entire back four plus keeper, the midfield needs at least two more additions and the frontline needs more than just Brewster, Osula and potentially Jebbo.

Forget promotion or play offs next season, there's too much to do to fix it in one season.

I agree. This is a three window job with promotion in 25/26 the target.
However this summer must see the nucleus of a good squad put together with both incoming signings and internal promotions.

Surely they could be introduced over the course of the coming season so that they are ready for the next one.

This is assuming they are ever going to be good enough and it's just a timing/age issue. It's not easy making it at any level of football let alone championship.
