Is Chris Wilder the right man for the job? How did you feel when he was appointed and how do you feel now?

Video and audio podcast looking through Wilder's career to date, Blades track record, intriguing stats and what he needs to do to bring success both on and off the field. With thanks to Carlton Blade for some of the info and thanks to all of you who watch/listen and support any of the stuff I share on here, I love you all. UTB

I think he is the right man for the job, but it will take a lot longer than most people seem to be expecting, in my opinion.
He'll need 3 transfer windows. He wont get it right in one - there is too much to change and we shouldn't expect the influx of players to gel straight away and hit the ground running.
There is no indication he will have enough money to do what he wants to either.
But, as always, the journey is better than the destination and I am looking forward to it.
Just don't lose to them lot, stay top half and hopefully win more than we lose.
I will be happy with that next season.

A vote for Chris which is fair enough but nothing that’s not been stated on here by many posters as to what’s needed next year.
Anyone who watches us knows what's needed, what's remarkable is that some of those deficiencies haven't already been addressed. We've needed a dominant centre back ever since JOC was injured, we've needed a dynamic central midfield enforcer for years and so in. What's worrying is thst Wilder has had a chance in the past to sort this out and hasn't done

I thought he said that he’s happy with the budget?
It's a standard football answer. Unless he's Mick McCarthy, Gordon Strachan or Ian Holloway then no one has the balls to say what they think. They give safe club approved answers. McCabe used to be a master of waffle lots but say nothing.

Well he's not had the best of starts with his 3 signings so far.
Grbic - disaster
Holgate - poor
BBD - good
He needs to improve on that success rate considerably.

Could this have contributed to existing threads?

How he got back here is a mystery he showed his hand when he walked second season and was a failure at Boro and Watford.
He is tactically inept, substitutions have been diabolical no idea how to close a game down which have cost us, the players to me have no respect for him.
Any other chairman would have sacked him after the Villa game now it looks as if we’re lumbered with him for the foreseeable.
Hold on tight Blades it’s going to be a rocky road

I posted that I wouldn't have Wilder back as a ball boy. However I have changed my mind in that I don't think there was a viable alternative at the time. Now he needs support from all Blades ( including the owner and the board). It's NOT the time to be negative about his abilities (except his substitutions?).

After this season, nobody is expecting much at all…

As he’d decided he didn’t want Wes it seems unlikely he protested too much.

Add to that the fact that he declared Grbic to be his first choice goalkeeper before he had even seen him perform for us and it hardly puts him in a good light in respect of this calamitous signing .

Mark Robins??? have you seen Coventrys results lately?

I’m encouraged by our tee to green play.

We seem to have at least transitioned from “try to defend all match” to “try to create chances of our own”.

With better finishing you could make a case that Brentford, Burnley, Newcastle and Forest are all games that should have been put to bed by the end of the first half.

They weren’t but some encouraging signs were there. Next year it will be weaker opposition and we’ll have more of the ball.

Just needs to make sure we have the players to execute that plan.

Whoever is the right man for the job is gonna have a bloody difficult time of it.

There is a very clear and obvious disconnect between many of our players. Most probably down to a lack of motivation to WANT to be a Sheffield United player.

We are bound to lose a large proportion of our players that have led by example this summer and contributed significantly during our more recent “good times”.

Our recruitment has therefore never been more important to get mostly right. Can’t win ‘em all but has GOT to be better than it has been.

The “due diligence” process we have in place needs looking at. The signing of Grbic under this so called “due diligence” (Wilders words not mine) seriously undermines any credibility the powers that be might “think” they have.

It’s not good enough. Full stop.

This season has been a shit show for fans. An embarrassment.

The club has however made strides forward in other areas. Hotel, HSBC ground, McCabes corners etc.

What a travesty it would be to not take this opportunity having taken one step back to not strive to start moving forwards on the pitch.

Time will tell !!!

I don't have any confidence at all about this pre season, Wilder must be rubbing his hands and saying "this is my level now, I'll wheel and deal like I did before", telling the Prince he can do it again etc, etc, it's all about him. We need to be thinking of the future, there's too much Sheffieldunitedness in the club, the media look at us and laugh, "that scruffy little club and that, has been badge pumping, always moaning about he can't compete against bigger clubs manager". We need a complete change of staff and owners, players must look at us and think I'm not going there! unless they're surplus to requirement( not good enough) other clubs. We've got from a great 3 years and a massive high to rock bottom, desperately hoping the same man can relive the dream again, I hope I'm wrong, but that's what is atm, just a dream
