Released and Retained...

When will our released and retained list be heard? Surely its got to be soon!! Anyway here's what i'd like to see, or something along the lines of..

Released..

Michael Doyle
Dave Kitson
Richard Cresswell (maybe sign him on the coaching staff)
Jean-Francois Lecsinel (a season wasted of wages)
Jordan Chappell (not really seen much, but not heard anything decent about him either)
Matt Harriott (as above)
Danny Coyne (no need for him to be here)
Barry Robson (already gone to Aberdeen)
Chris Porter (not sure if hes out of contract, if he isn't transfer list him)

Retain..
Danny Higginbotham

Transfer list..
Marcus Williams
Matt Hill

Loan out..
Joe Ironside
Terry Kennedy
Connor Dimaio
Elliot Whitehouse

...leaves us thin, but also gives Weir to bring in his own players, maybe a good chance to rebuild, although this would probably sacrifice our push for promotion next season..

Any objections :D
 



doyle and porter will be staying, I'd be very surprised if anyone would take them. Same with williams
 
I would imagine that it will be out once Weir has had chance to discuss his plans with the coaches. I broadly agree with your suggestions but we can't release Doyle as he's got two more years on his contract or Porter as he's got one more.

In addition, I'd release Higginbotham, take Hill off the transfer list and keep Kennedy, Dimaio (isn't he 16?) and Whitehouse in and around the first team squad. I'd love to see Harriott given chance in a team where there is more of an emphasis on retention of possession but I have a feeling he's going to either sink down the Ian Ross route or end up in Scotland a la Nicky Law.

theres no way i'd retain higginbottom and I would keep hill. i'd agree with the rest of what you say, tho whitehouse might be more ready this yr. as has been said, we cant get shot off doyle, williams or porter without someone being crazy enough to buy them sadly. also kennedy might be more ready this yr as well.
 
I would like to see Coyne, LJF (reluctantly but he's still not fit), Harriott, Kitson, Cresswell and Robson released.

We're hearing rumours Higginbotham has an option to stay but I'd like to see him released as well.

I would make the following available for transfer: Porter, Williams and Doyle.

That gives us some wiggle room to rebuild the squad.

I see on Mad someone has spoken to Bill Dearden's daughter and he has gone as Chief Scout. Much as he has been a great servant of the past I'm not surprised this time round - he's 70 next birthday ! Thanks for the memories in the 70s, put your feet up and now let Weir restructure the scouting network
 
Am I the only one who think Jean-Francois Lecsinel is a good defender? He's due to come back in October so I think he's worth keeping
 
I wouldn't be against offering LJF a "pay as you play" deal to Christmas but it depends on Weir's view of him. He might not have heard of or seen the guy, realistically.

Well he could initially come in as kit man, based on his previous two and a half years working in a Laundry and then move Porter and Doyle into Pie retail, I accept it could be a while 'til they work out your change but I think, given time, they could do a job for us?
 
This is a nightmare for Weir although he did train with the squad 18 months ago so won't be totally in the dark about some of them. Not sure how he's supposed to sort out the retained list at this stage though and as such, make plans in the next couple of weeks to bring players in when the real transfer business starts on July 1st. This is, I presume, why the club were keen to keep Morgs involved, at least in the short term.

Having said that, it's not as if we're going to be in the buying market much, if at all.

I know, if only there were some way of recording images of football matches and watching them back at a later date ;)
I suspect Weir has been locked in a darkened room with Prozone since he finished with the press.
Or possibly a VCR/Betamax machine knowing United.

Sorry to be harsh, but if we wanted Morgan's judgement on ins and outs, we should have made him manager. I wouldn't and I don't.
 
I'm sure he can find out all he needs to know in about a day of watching videos and reading match reports.

Besides, who we keep and who we don't will largely be decided on how much their salaries are and not how good they are at kicking a bag of wind about on a bit of grass.
