Souza was always a good player. Poor decisions to play him along side Norwood hampered his natural game. Traore has shown nothing to imply he is a professional footballer. He’s right up there with that kid Southampton signed that they thought was George Weah’s cousin and were told he had played for PSG.

Shut up man hahaha

Early contender for worst take of 2024.

A loan would be a great move, he needs to get regular minutes in a lower league to keep his eye in and develop as a player.

He was bought as a developer, let’s let him develop and not wrote him off after being thrown in the deep end.

Nantes one of the rumoured clubs after him, would be a good move

Going Nantes on loan for the rest of the season with also an option to buy clause in the contract. His agent done him wonders because he’s a league 2 player. What a waste of money.

Fair enough. Seems like one of those "quick decisions" Wilder has made.

He's young and has some potential but hasn't shown that he can make an impact at this level or that we could rely on him to be a key player in the championship.

He's also someone we can probably get some decent money for so trying to offload him rather than putting time & effort into making it work is understandable. Sunk costs and all that

Utd obviously don't have luxury of being able to afford finished/proven players and therefore punts have to be taken - some may more, some won't.

However, you'd have to question the quality of scouting last summer - Larouci, Thomas, Traore, Davies and Slimane are (to date) all big misses with only Souza and Trusty anywhere near the required level. Archer and McAtee were already well known.

Given the low budget, it was critical that far more / all signings were hits and improved the side/squad to provide a chance of survival. Coupled with the decision to extend Fleck and Osborn, the squad is unfortunately woefully short on quality and it's no surprise Utd are rock bottom.

Anel & Berge were apparently united world signings. Our recruitment needs seriously looking into.
No they weren’t, it’s our recruitment team finding and recommending players to the manager. I remember a Wilder interview after we signed Berge and he said he and Alan Knill had personally flown to watch Berge play several times after he was scouted by our team.

Not seen that what did he say? Because Wilder personally said him and Alan Knill had gone and watched Berge several times.
That United world was behind the Abel and Berge transfers.

Like you say though there is other conflicting information out there. Perhaps wilder sends Mitchell to check out recommendations who knows what happened in the Hecky era

Paul Mitchell recommends all the players, that’s literally his job. He finds players through himself and his team of scouts. They watch them several times in person, watch all available videos on the players then will put together a dossier and video for the manager to look at and who will ultimately have the final say and on the strength of what Mitchell recommends, they on occasions will also go and watch them themselves before making a decision.

Here is Wilder saying he and Alan Knill had personally flown out on separate occasions and watched Berge.

Clearly a Wilder signing

i dont think we will see traore in a blades shirt again loan to nantes with them buying in the summer looks on the cards just got to move a other 7/8 on before next season kicks off now

intrigued to know whether the quoted figure of £4m purchase price is accurate and how much we have agreed as the value of the option for Nantes to purchase.
at the time when money was really tight this has to go down as one of the worst signings ever made

I remember all this Harry, but the Prince did say in the Ramble interview (when asked if we are seeing benefits from the United World) that those two were UW signings.
I completely agree with you, and the poster pointing out about Lester's past with Anel.

It could've been so different if he'd scored that one-on-one vs Forest in the first away game. His confidence would've been sky-high, and he'd be up there with Haaland for the golden boot winner.
