Meant he started off as a winger in the youth set up - winners medal in FA Youth Cup - before being moved back.
 

The idea you can judge how good a player is after a handful of performances is crazy under normal circumstances. When a new manager has just come in and already shown he can get more of certain players it’s even crazier. Give the lad a go. I back Wilder to improve him.
 
Referring back to a conversation with another forum member from last week.... you can't write Larouci off until...

1. He's given a chance to shine...
2. Played Under Wilder

Tonight was the best he has played in a Blades shirt and has shown that he has ability. However he had a bit more to prove yet ......
 
He's raw but has potential and can offer us something in the meantime.

Remember what Gareth Bale was like at his age.
 
CW gets a hold of him and turned him into a player. Took 2 weeks.
 
Been thinking about it and it’s obvious he’s going to play well now, before going to AFCON. We’ll all be gutted he’s had to go, miss him and then he’ll get injured whilst out there - the Sheffield United way…

Their player was booked for the foul on him.
Larouci fouled him a minute after and was booked too .

When he committed his foul he was goal side. It was a nothing foul. When he was fouled the Blades were countering in the Villa half with space to run into. A mandatory yellow as the Villa player pulled his shirt from behind to stop a dangerous counter (a professional foul).. Both got the same punishment for completely different situations. I don't think Larourici had commited another foul all night at that point. It was a "the Villa fans are moaning because I've booked one of theirs so I'll book him" decision. Ridiculous.
 
Considering he hasn't played for a while the lad put in a good shift. On occasion when he did get beat he chased back hard to recover which is what you want from a defender. Seems to have bought into the new spirit under Wilder.

Still, this place is all about opinions innit. Even when they are clearly bullshit.
 
Let's take it as the best so far, many of us had him down amongst the 3 worst full backs we've seen 2 weeks ago, hopefully he has a run of decent games and builds his fitness and positioning and then we may have something

I don't disagree re: his positioning not being good. If he seems quite erratic it's often because he's not anticipating the play around him very well.

However, he does have a lot of athletic ability which allows him to (often) recover from those mistakes. I also like his willingness to carry the ball over large distances, though we haven't seen much of an end product to go with it just yet.

Overall, I think he's a promising young player and your view on him is harsh and sensationalist (if you were baiting - well done - you've got some nibbles).
If he was an academy lad then I'd be looking forward to seeing more of him, but given the option price is circa. £4m, I don't think it's worth progressing much further with (unless he improves lots).

It goes back to the poor Summer business though, Larouci is clearly still a development player and we needed someone far more seasoned to improve the XI.
It's not his fault, and he puts in a lot of effort, he's just not what we needed. We compounded the error with another in Luke Thomas. An even poorer signing.

If he was 17/18 I could see the argument he's one for the future. He's 23 in a few days and he's only a loan with a view to buy. Why develop that? Lowe, Ozzy and RND hopefully be options we should be focusing on.

His positioning is what makes him stand out as so bad to me. It's like watching Soccer Aid where a celebrity/other sportsman has a bit about him but is obviously never going to be a pro

We're playing with the hand we've got. Wilder's not daft.

Wilder and Knill once again, turning cannon fodder into something respectable. It’s hardly surprising when you consider the ability to turn League 1 players into Premier League starters.

Wilders tactics rightfully get the plaudits during that era, but the player development was also a big factor. Slimane, Souza, Brooks and even Norwood played well, not even a sniff of that under PH. Onto what is a huge game against Luton, I wonder if it’ll be wilder making a tactical masterclass video afterwards.

I think it’s a reasonable opinion, and one I share. But some of the opinions both ways are a Bit ridiculous. He’s not good enough for the prem just as much as he’s not absolutely dreadful. Probably somewhere around a lower mid champ player and that’s it!

The option is £4m? Is that confirmed?

Surely if he was worth that much then Troyes would have sold him last summer.

Not really. His value is going to change dependent on what he does this season. We're only really ever going to take the option if he performs towards the upper range of outcomes, and Troyes will have priced that accordingly. If he was worth £4m back in July and he has a good enough season that we want to buy him, then he would be worth a bit more than £4m when we make it permanent.

Don't forget that there is nothing to stop us declining the option if we don't think he's worth the agreed value, and then put in an offer at a lower amount. Troyes probably tell us to fuck off in that instance, but that's a different story

£1m loan fee, £4m option to buy.
I was told this by the person who gave me his name before we signed him. Could be incorrect, but I'd be very surprised.
