look at huddersfield last year , last 6 league game lost 3 drew 1
and then lost one of the semi final games and only drew 0-0 in the final

you dont have to be magnificent to go up

year before peterboro , won 2 of last 6
lost first play off leg at mk dons
and so on
both teams finished 5th

form , makes no difference

All together now

Previous play offs (under new system) form in last 5 league games:

1997 P6 W2 D2 L2 F7 A5 pts 8
1998 P6 W1 D2 L3 F10 A11 pts 5
2003 P6 W3 D1 L2 F9 A8 pts 10
2009 P6 W3 D2 L1 F4 A2 pts 11
2012 P6 W3 D2 L1 F14 A9 pts 11

In other words, we had fairly good form going into the last 3 play offs, mediocre from in 1997 and crap form in 1998.

None of it seems to make ant difference...

If United get to the final, i'm going to stick some money on the opposition. At least then its a win-win situation.

Form doesnt matter to any team who have to play us in the final and yes if we somehow get to Wembley again Ill have the same bets again, £200 on Blades not promoted and £50 on us not to score

In my opinion, Morgan needs to put 11 players he trusts the most to give a fuck and hope for the best. This is our only chance. He needs to learn his lesson as this is his only shot of getting the job.

However, the form for the last 6 games for 2012 is hugely distorted in that only 2 of our 11 points came in the last three league games (i.e. the post Ched slump). In contrast Hudders got 7 points from their last 6 games ALL 7 of which came in the last three.

Perhaps form does matter in relation to the team you're playing rather than as a random number.

Go on then. Last 3 games

1997: P3 W1 D2 L0 F2 A1 pts 5
1998: P3 W0 D1 L2 F4 A6 pts 1
2003 P3 W1 D1 L1 F6 A5 pts 4
2009 P3 W1 D1 L1 F1 A1 pts 4
2012 P3 W0 D2 L1 F4 A 5 pts 2

So we have never actually been in brilliant form immediately going in the play offs - we have either been in mid tableish form (1997, 2003, 2009) or relegation form (1998, 2012)

just pointing out that last 2 play off winners were hardly red hot going into the play offs , so our shitty form doesnt preclude us from turning it round, WE CANT ALL BE SUPER NEGATIVE 24 HOURS 7 DAYS A WEEK LIKE SOME
We have a 1 in 4 chance of winning it
last 2 have both lost a semi final game

form , makes no difference[/quote

In a one off big game bottle is more important than form. History shows that cometh the hour cometh the bottleless (and to be fair sometimes unlucky) Blades.

It has happened so much in my time watching United that I've come to the conclusion it can't just be chance, there must be something in the culture, in the DNA of the club that means big game equals big f up.

Bless.. i hope you're right mate, honestly i do

Isn't it weird. We're in the third division and we're relying on every dog has its day in order to feel we stand a chance.

so what , we arent very good , never have been for 40 odd years

footballs kicked us in the teeth so often we expect it, not dog have its day , just get a break for a change
bit like the first play off when Hopkins scored the only goal , in injury time , did palace deserve that , not really , we were shit , but they were no better, but a hit and hope went in , dont think he ever scored another like it

all I want is the old football adage , these things even out to kick in, surely we are due a crumb , a miniscule crumb of luck , one day
you never ever win anything without a bit of luck, we must have upset the uk congress of witches

Its not the lack of form we're taking into the play offs that concerns me. What concerns me is I believe Yeovil, Brentford and Doncaster are all better teams than us.

Unfortunately, whoever we play, their players will want it more than our overpaid, under performing shower of sh!te that couldn't care less !
