he certainly tormented sabella booting him 10 foot in the air in the first 5 minutes so much for big jacks pre match comment that he had no plans to mark sabella who after that was never seen for the remaining 85 minutesPretty sure it was. Jeff King who tormented us on Boxing Day was a top player for us that season.
Didn’t we score two late goals away at York City to win 4-3 also that season ?Yes, scored twice
I remember King as a left midfielder for us could score with head and foot in fact chipped in quite a few goals. Quite aggressive too as you say. Yeah Sabella fish out of water that day.he certainly tormented sabella booting him 10 foot in the air in the first 5 minutes so much for big jacks pre match comment that he had no plans to mark sabella who after that was never seen for the remaining 85 minutes![]()
Yes, both headers from Mike TrussonDidn’t we score two late goals away at York City to win 4-3 also that season ?
Quite aggressive?!!! Loved King, but there were moments when you'd think he'd burst a blood vessel such was his willingness to go over and beyond what was considered acceptable. Thing is, he could play a bit too. The fact that he had played for Wednesday didn't stop him from becoming a bit of a cult (yes, I said CULT) amongst some fans. We could have done with his like recently, so intense was he at times he would've taught Baldock a thing or two.I remember King as a left midfielder for us could score with head and foot in fact chipped in quite a few goals. And, I think we could easily put him in the ‘dodgy perm’ 11. Along with Kenworthy and Conroy to name just two.Quite aggressive?!!! Sorry bigger blade. We left at half time to make sure we attended an important pre arranged appointment. At least we gave them what we could. It’s not always that simple or black and white.3 on our row left early and a couple below yesterday, serves the miserable (miss the traffic ) sods right, never understood that in a tight game.![]()
Jeff King ?I never leave early , many years ago in the 4th Division me & the mates left the ground early in disgust as we were losing 2-1 to Crewe .
On the way back to the station heard two big cheers … we’d scored two late goals and had won 3-2 …. Lesson learned![]()
YesJeff King ?
Twice
Didn’t ‘Truss’ also get 2 very late goals mid week @ Northampton (3 sided stadium) or am I (again) conflating matches / seasons ?Yes, both headers from Mike Trusson

Don’t be an arsehole (bigger blade) . I would never profess to be that to anyone, get off your high horse of stupid accusations or don’t even reply.
yes he did become a bit of a cult figure after playing for wednesday as opposed to curran who was a c**t figureQuite aggressive?!!! I took that exact risk 7-0 down the other week. Also why you should never leave early if you can manage not to.
Left early once, in Steve Bruce’s last game as a player. We were 5 nil down and had to drive to Buxton. Couldn’t see the point of staying the last 5 mins.On the subject of leaving early, I often leave if we're a couple down with minutes to play. Can't remember us ever pulling it back after I've left. If there's only one goal in it I'll see it out.
People say 'would you leave a cinema before the film has ended?' The answer is yes if the outcome has been revealed and the film was shit.
I thought it was 4-0? I do recall, Shaun Derry shot, it went wide but into the netting behind the goal, and the South and John Street Stands started celebrating. Even the goal music came on.....then the Sunderland keeper took a goal kickLeft early once, in Steve Bruce’s last game as a player. We were 5 nil down and had to drive to Buxton. And for those not around in the 90s Sunderland still won 5-0
You're right, it was 4-0, should have stayed!I thought it was 4-0? I do recall, Shaun Derry shot, it went wide but into the netting behind the goal, and the South and John Street Stands started celebrating. Even the goal music came on.....then the Sunderland keeper took a goal kick
Tiniest handful of empty seats. I'd say it was full, within a hundred. We had day ticket buyers sat near us on the kop in restricted seats.31.4k v Liverpool.. guessing a lot of ST holders didn't fancy it? No way was it that full. On SS infront me they were 8 seats together free then on JS looked scattered empty seats.
Still good support in that weather![]()
