I have a friend that went on holiday this week and couldn't make the game. They went to the south of France and are having a nice time, but couldn't make the game today. They would've typically gone, but they would have needed to leave 2 days early so it wouldn't have made sense. I've just spoken to them on the phone and they said they would've loved to go to the game but understandably they couldn't make it. I was planning on meeting them at the game but they couldn't go as they were on holiday, but usually they would've gone. More often than not they'd go to most games including cup games like today and I'll usually meet them and say hello and maybe a cheeky pint, but unfortunately they couldn't go to the game, even though they really wanted to.

Maybe this has happened to other people and they couldn't go.

The wings of the Kop were half empty, as were the back 7 rows (through the club's restrictions, granted).

We only sold out about 18,000 tickets for an FA Cup quarter-final, and what was maybe the best game of the season. It's disappointing. The 10,000 fans who couldn't be arsed today should be at the back of the queue for Wembley.

Couldn't really get a gauge on how full the Kop was from the centre of the Kop for obvious reasons but the general consensus around us was that the attendance figure reeked of creative accounting
I don’t think the club would be able to get away with that these days. Hardly anyone pays in cash, and ticket sales are all computerised, so there would be an audit trail if the club were to try fiddling the figures.

Like Woolford just said, I was in the middle. If the wings were not busy, there's no way either of us could tell

Looking from the far end of JSS the South Stand side of the Kop was indeed sparse.

Yes indeed Took me an hour to get away from the area by the ground.
Due to the new traffic light sequencing at the D Dooley way Parkway junction, my bus took over 20mins to get from the bus station to the Parkway; traffic was light on the Parkway. The lights now only let 3-4 cars through. Can't justify a clean air zone without doing something to cause congestion can you SCC.

I’d never discriminate against any Blade, who for one reason or another chose not to go to a game. But I do have a problem with people who come to the game a constantly slag players off…I’d sooner they stay away though.

Clearly, there were some - including season ticket holders given that we have 22,000 of those - who gave it a miss today.

That being said, let’s not get into the ‘rounding down’ of our numbers, more typical of the typical mathematically challenged Pig fan.

With the extra allocation, Blackburn were allocated 5,782 tickets in the end. The gate was 25,814. So, assuming that Blackburn sold all of their tickets, United sold a touch over 20,000 for today’s game.

Another thing that doesn't help attendances is United's stupid policy of a free for all to buy tickets give ST holders time to claim their usual seat where they sit every week with family and friends. I stayed away from the Wrexham and Spurs games for this reason. I meet up with friends at the ground where we sit otherwise I'm attending alone, if I can't sit with friends I'll stay away and watch on TV and plenty of others feel the same, why should we be forced to sit elsewhere often in RV seats which a lot of the left of the kop now are due to the grey box. I know someone will reply what about ST holders in the BLUT/Westfield corner but you know what happens if you buy a ST there. It is high time SUFC segregated the top tier like they have done in the past.

About right. Hundreds of empty seats on the right hand side section and the back rows empty

Grassroots football fixture’s still need playing. Mothers day bookings too contibute . If this was alate afternoon or night game it would’ve been full. But why would th fa, tv companies or the efl ever consider the fans. Fucking wank kick off time or an already inconvenient day.

Well despite the space on the KOP and elsewhere in the ground, I managed to get a whole new experience with what seemed to be like a few KOP regulars that had ended up with a ticket on the South.

Quite bizarre to go from fans moaning about the players, the ref and the game during a match usually to now having fans moaning about other fans during the match. These clowns near me assumed the South was going to be the KOP V2 or something. It was nice to have a few fellow Blades fans essentially calling anyone around them who wasn't singing non-stop for the whole match "A bunch of twats." or "A cunt" and trying to start a chant between themselves "Is this a library".

It took the shine off a great cup match for me. I never expected to have some loudmouth dickheads essentially trash their fellow fans for 90 minutes. The atmosphere on the South Stand was fine I thought today and possibly better than it was against Spurs despite what these clowns think.

Anyway as for attendance of the fixture itself as others have said it was poorly scheduled. Bang on midday, the earliest start you can have I think for a football match and right in the middle of Mothers Day. So I didn't expect it to be sell out sadly and I doubt it would have been if it was PL opposition either.

Hopefully the benevolent little dictators at the council are pleased with themselves

But to be honest..... moving the kop back row forwards by a few might actually help the atmosphere a bit

It also resulted in some fans doubling up in seats and standing in gang ways. A totally futile and counter productive gesture to close off the top seats.

I was quite pleased that the cunt who normally sits behind me wasn't in attendance. It meant I could enjoy a game of football without listening to 45 minutes of what a prick Gary Lineker is and 40 minutes (he always leaves early) of how there are too many homosexuals and black people on the BBC.
Lovely.

Never in a month of Sundays was there 5k plus empty seats today.

Reg Brealey must be back in charge.

This is what you get when the pricing is the same in every section of the ground. It is only natural that people will try to snap up the best seats so obviously the South stand is the first to sell out. What that leaves then is people displaced from their usual seats having to buy tickets elsewhere which in turn leaves only the worst seats left which are on the kop with a reduced capacity and a lot of RV seats. When the game is on free to view national TV these seats are never going to sell.

Atmosphere > numbers anyway. See this is the current topic du jour on porktalk and how they got more for their Friday night draw vs. Bolton
THey shoud concern themselves with the fact they have not averaged over 30k in a season in over 55 years ........Indeed, we have an Average this season of 28,500 what theirs again?

Hull game Baki the princes side kick said 40k in a crowd if 71k
im pretty sure we were only allocated 33k for the hull semi but could be wrong but we definetly took 40k to the burnley play off final the huddersfield play off final was our most dissapointing ticket sales for wembley with only 28k sold pigs had a birthday with that figure
