Its the "gobby" fans at Burnley that made the difference,he is right tho he does have some reyt "tools" to pick from and he dont mean Bill Ryobi either,

"Heckingbottom admitted after the game that a section of supporters chanting against him in the away end "changed the dynamic" of his position but that, until he was told otherwise, he would continue to work as hard as ever with the tools at his disposal."

Wilder for me would be a bad appointment on the basis that it’s going to split opinion between fans and I think thats the last thing we need.

Even throughout Hecky’s time the fans have largely stuck together in supporting him until the last few weeks when the tide turned. The last thing the club needs is a divided fanbase to add to the bollocks thats happening both on and off the pitch.

We’re essentially banking on him galvanising the players enough to stay up because he’s got a worse squad now than he did when he left. Have to say it’s a big big gamble and Wilder will have to make up to a lot of fans despite so many that are probably over the moon he’s back.

The question I am asking myself is, if true, why would Wilder come back?
I reckon few reasons.

1. He's made up with Prince now
2. We are probably the highest ranked club currently interested in employing him right now. Because of course his rep has taken a knock since that last season with us.
3. It's a challenge, and perhaps that's not a bad thing.
4. He is a blade afterall, and I'd hope he feels unfinished business is on his mind.

If it is Wilder it will just be the next chapter in the collective errors of judgement the Prince has made since taking full control.

Appointing wilder is short-term pandering to the fans and it will end in the same inevitable relegation and a the building of a cheap squad of has been, fallen young starlets and journeymen to try and keep in the championship.

If it is Wilder though they’ll be no Alan Knill but Billy Sharp will come in as his new number 2

YHIHF
I can't see that re Sharp, he didn't leave on good terms with the club. We need a proven coach also I'd say.

It needs to be someone other than Wilder
Who would want this poisoned chalice though?

I assume that the mentality would be that Hecky was somehow creating a team that was less than the sum of its parts and Wilder has a track record of doing just the opposite (for most of his previous tenure). We won’t be signing a new squad so we need to make the most of what we have for the rest of the season in order to at least beat Derby’s record which is all we can probably hope for.

I just want to see some fight and wilder can hopefully bring some of that back.

Let me get this straight.

We’re sacking the manager who’s overseen the second worst start to a Premier League season ever.

And replacing him with the manager who has overseen the worst start to a Premier League season ever?

Sounds like a great way to run a club.

He's got his limitations tactically but Hecky has been left out to dry by the higher-ups.

Also can't help but remember the last time Wilder managed a team out of its depth in a much stronger league...

What's the plan here?

At this point, the main hope is whoever it is that comes in, they can make us at least a little harder to beat and scrape together just enough points so that Derby keep their record.

Then accept relegation and spend as little time as possible reflecting on the fact that the ambitions for this campaign in the PL amounted to the equivalent of knowing you're going to publicly shit yourself numerous times but hoping you can limit the number of people affected by the stench to just a few dozen.

You know the game is up when he’s calling the players tools.

The question I am asking myself is, if true, why would Wilder come back?
Because his managerial stock is at an all time low given his failings since he left us. There is only us daft enough to employ him.

This should only be a deal until the end of season, to give a long term contract will be madness given our financial situation and the upheaval the squad needs.

Wilder was great for us and what he achieved gave us memories we will never forget. But this has the shaping to be an unmitigated disaster imo, and shows the complete lack of direction and forward thinking planning from the powers that be. We are a stagnant club, with stagnant leadership. The fury and anger doesn’t need to be at Heckingbottom. It’s time we directed it at the board.

Deservedly sacked unfortunately, completely out his depth in this division tactically & game management. The injuries have been an issue since he joined. He will however go down as one of the few managers a lot of us have seen gain promotion & we he will always be held in high regard by the fans because of this

If it’s Wilder the biggest take away is that HRH has no gauge on the fans at all.

This splits the base even further. Sure, a couple of wins might rose tint some glasses but we’re talking about a guy who set fire to the ship and jumped into a luxury yacht.

The fact he can’t get work elsewhere speaks volumes.

Wait for the first loss interview on MOTD…

“What do you expect, the players are shit.”

If he does go today it's well overdue, but at least it won't have been allowed to fester long enough for the fans to really turn against him, which would be a shame.

I have no idea who could come in and change anything, or more importantly give us a chance of bouncing back next season. If it is to be Wilder though, it would at least make things interesting and give me a reason to go to Chelsea. I'm currently of the mindset that I will be returning my ticket if there's no change, because I just can't justify the time/effort/cost/hangover for what is being served up at the moment.

If it’s Wilder. I’m somewhat neutral. There’s pro’s and cons.

Pros

  1. He’s not a terrible manager, you’re not a flukey manager to do what he did with us. Dragged from a similar place and got us to the PL where we were on course for Europe before an unprecedented mess.
  2. We look more of a joined up team, we look fitter, more determined and the players are know what they’re doing.
  3. He’s old-school but adds in the sports science aspect, so moves with modern times.
  4. Works better on a budget.
  5. Isn’t a yes man.
  6. Bladey Blade.
  7. Knows the players.

Cons

  1. Is he still the stubborn, mardy bastard he was circa 2021?
  2. Failed in his last two jobs.
  3. Doesn’t have faith in youth.
  4. Shit with big money signings
  5. Sentimental appointment, is he a stop gap or are we going back in time?
  6. Do the players still like him after last time?

If he’s here till the end of the season then i’m for it. But if he’s the answer going forward, i’d be pissed off. We need a fresh start, a young manager and to blood in the promising youth. Arblaster, Marsh, Osula, Brooks etc.

I can't see that re Sharp, he didn't leave on good terms with the club. We need a proven coach also I'd say.
Neither did Wilder. Look, if we’re going to make a compete mess of SUFC why not bring BS back to destroy his legened status?

The only acceptable way we should hire Wilder is on a contract to the end of the season and he has no control over transfers.
