I understand that Bob, but it's only because he used to play for us. I believe subsequent Rotherham failure Andy Scott was interviewed as well? I'm astonished such people are even mentioned, but they will be! Curtis Woodhouse is available, is he not?

Brian McDermott do you? If Morgan doesn't work out I think McCall is the only ex blade I would consider

Would like to see Karl Robinson if mk don't get in playoffs. He likes united and hates pigs as much as us (from
The man himself )

I was only throwing a name in there who was interviewed last time.

Was Phil Parkinson supposed to have been interviewed last time?

We are of course forgetting that McCabe doesn't really like appointing people he doesn't already know. It would just be about typical for him to try and get Macca in, 6 years after he should have arguably been given the reigns. I suspect he'd turn the opportunity down too - particularly if he asks Murphy what the state of the club is.

To be honest, I haven't given it a thought. The list above is less than inspiring, though. Blade or otherwise won't figure for me though. I saw Mickey Adams' tenure!

It does occur to me that the young man at Barnsley appears to be doing a good job, conducts himself very well and has no contract.

Currently Bert Smethwick, Albert Smith and Joe Standpipe look outstanding bets to me!

Lets face it - who in their right mind would come to manage the Blades

No Money, Shit Squad, Disinterested Owner, and last but not least a whinging, complaining set of supporters that turn up every week and moan their arses off!

Morgan would be my choice to the end of the season. He knows the players and the abilities of those on the verge of the first team, and with his fighting spirit might instill some much needed guts to a team that at present seem to be going through the motions.I fear some of them see themselves out of a job next season if promotion is achieved.
Yes,he knows they are all fucking shit.

You and Flitcroft would make a good couple Pinchy. Both talk bollox.

Warnock so he can shove a rocket up the players arses, fire us to promotion and then give a big two finger salute to McCabe and his family.
and then most probably give a big two fingers to the kop and walk out.. no chance.
i'd try and get Pembo in charge.. he's the only person who ever nearly won anything since i've been alive.. other than that i'd get the Crewe manager and copy their setup lock stock and barrel

Just had a peek at the odds on skybet. Just a comment on one or two of the supposed candidates.
Paul Dickov 10/1, Phil Parkinson 14/1 : Went on a cup run, I think thats it.
Iain Dowie 14/1 : If were going for a sky pundit lets just get Kammy, post match interviews would be entertaining.
Paul Jewell 10/1 : Not quite sure about Jewell but think he's best avoided looking at his jobs post wigan
Keith Curle 20/1 : Did well at Notts County didn't he ;)
Nick Barmby 16/1 : Not sure what he's done to be considered especially at 16/1
Steve Mclaren 28/1, Alan Irvine 40/1, Alex McLeish 40/1 : Please god no, just no
The only two I'd like to see would be McCall or Robinson but I do worry that no matter who we get in they won't be properly backed, won't be given time by the boo boys and we'll be in this situation in 12 months time. I do hope mccabe proves me wrong

That's a really uninspiring list.
Paul Dickov 10/1 - No
Phil Parkinson 14/1 - No
Iain Dowie 14/1 - Fuck No!
Keith Curle 20/1 - No
Nick Barmby 16/1 - No
Steve Mclaren 28/1, - Already admitted he's more suited to a Assistant role, and no.
Alan Irvine 40/1, - No
Alex McLeish 40/1 - Get the fuck out of here!

Whoever we get has to show more enthusiasm and desire than DW.

Gary Speed?

Thatcher?
I've rather have tactical nous and technique over enthusiasm and desire.
I find them over stated qualities usually promoted by shit TV commentators to over promote the virtues of average players/managers.

How did you want him to show it, just because he wasn't ripping the linesmans head off every 2 mins or waving his arms about like a lunatic doesn't mean he had no passion

I'd rather have Wilson than anyone on that list.

Disagree

Wilson didn't stand a chance cus he's a pig - simply a stupid move getting him.

Some might say that that is narrow minded but you can't spend a life time hating the blue side then just turn off. Wednesday fans couldn't either; it's what makes football great, nothing better than beating your rivals nor nothing worse than losing to them.

If we had who people thought was the right man for the job he would be given time.

Being in the same league position with SOD but playing reasonably good football we'd all be saying it might be tough next year with the clubs who might come down but if we do fail this year we'd have a good chance of being champions next year.

Under Wilson there has been no progress - that’s the problem as well as being from the wrong side. We have never looked like promotion candidates even when we were top of the league. How mad was that.

If we do go up only a blind man would keep the current squad. Does that make us boo boys or is that a reality check?

What a totally uninspiring list, which I didn't think could be made worse until I saw what odds were being offered on certain managers

Personally think we need to go for someone young and that has some new fresh Ideas, instead of the ones that have already been round the block and still think that hoofball, longball, direct football is the way forward. Footballs moving on we need to as well.

I don't have any ideas who, but as someone put on another thread the first thing we should be doing is calling Huw Jenkins and getting his advice.

01792 616600There you go Kev, even saved you finding the number. :)

When you see that list Morgs doesn't look a bad option. o_O

Owen Coyle might be an option.

There is a middle way, you know. I'm not talking Warnock with his manufactured rants (which just got the refs. back up) and I don't advocate O'Neills 'pansy in the playground' antics.

I always watch the away managers at the Lane (nowt to see watching DW :D). Barker on Tuesday, Russell Slade etc. don't bawl and rant. They cajole, advise and offer praise where it's due. Capiche?

Might be worth a few quid on Slade (Russell not the band). He seems to be doing a decent job at Orient, Blades connection and is used to working with no budget. I'd still rather have DW though.

Given McCabe's post Warnock appointments, you shiver to think who's career he's been 'following for some time' this time round. As people have said, looking at the list of possibilities shows just how far down the ladder we've fallen although we are still potentially one of the best jobs outside the Prem for the right person if they can get things moving again so may still attract some reasonable names. Until they get the wages offer of course.

As The Stir are suggesting though, Morgs may be in the frame already, particularly if we somehow manage to put together a miracle run in the next three weeks. With his football pedigree and friends all over the game, we'll be fine

I think there's a couple of up and coming managers in the league below that could be worth a go. Gary Rowett has done really well at Burton on a shoestring, he's played in the Premier League for quite a while at some decent sized clubs, so he probably wouldn't be phased with the expectation. Their away record isn't great but the home record is excellent. Maybe with a bigger budget and better players he could do well?

Having said that, Morgan is basically on a job interview for the rest of the season so if he does well I'd be amazed if he didn't get the job.

No point in trying to second guess who it will be, it 100% depends on which league we are in. Get promoted and you stand the chance of an experienced boss taking a punt on SUFC, stay in L1 and refer back to the list of aso-rans...

I'm still sticking with wanting Steve Davis from Crewe, as I said before he clearly has no issue with letting the kids play as that is part of Crewe's ethos, and they play a decent game as well. Might even be able to attract one or two of the decent kids from Crewe over as well. As for anyone in that list, not for me thanks.

It is the most depressing list I have seen, I would rather see Warnock then any on that list. Jewell FFS they are still recovering from him in Ipswich
The lad from Crewe would be good but how embarrassing would it be if he turned us down!!

What would be the point, if were still in in league 1 this time next year anywhere but top 2 they'll be the usual suspects calling for a change. No point making a long term appointment if we as fans don't give them time

I dunno Noddy Holder ranting "C'mun we're all crazy now!" is probably not far from the truth; McCabe as a fruitcake decision making Chairman, and the fans for gamely turning up expecting promotion as the club slides inexorably down the football pyramid.

NO NO NO.. i'm sick of this 'blades connection' NONSENSE.. it is utter NONSENSE:mad:
