Is there an intake of younger fans?

I look around S2 and it's a sea of fair weather or old heads. Football has never been this big but I feel kids are lost to the man cities of the world and aren't being pushed into watching their local dross. Are we going to see attendances collapse when the old boys move on?

Forget the man city and the Man U there only 1 team for me till the day I die is the blades I’ll be there with in my Zimmer frame to cheer them on U T B

Blades fans of all ages are everywhere. You don't stipulate which Intake, the one in Sheffield or Doncaster ?
Perhaps both 🤔

I don’t know where you sit, but there’s seems to loads of younger generation fans, especially Kop

When I was a lad the glory supporters all followed Man U, now it’s Man City, but in the end there will always be kids brought up to be blades by their parents, grandparents, aunties, uncles, brothers, sisters etc.

I'm experiencing it now.

My daughters had a ST for 4 or 5 years now...she's nearly 10. She's become obsessed by man city lately.

Knows all their players.

She's begging me to take her to a Man City game.....I'm gonna try and get tickets for 30th Dec.

My lad is 10 and he’s an absolute Blades nut. What he doesn’t know about United isn’t worth knowing. I’ve not even had to force him into it!

He went through a phase with Man City, so I took him to a CL game (seeing as it’s highly unlikely we will see the Blades in Europe anytime soon). It was shit and his actual words were “these lot aren’t like proper football supporters like at our ground.” It was nice to see all the superstars, but it’s such a plastic non-atmosphere full of tourists.

Funny as fuck on the TV seeing all the emotionless Chinese and Koreans who look like they haven't got a clue what they are looking at

Funny talking to Some people not see at a lane before they said not u t d support but wanted to see premiship football how the fuck do they get a season ticket when not supporting

I've been a blade since 1968.
I've seen so many legends pass away. I have most tattooed on my arm as I travelled everywhere with the blades
Lester divers
Chris booth
Steve grant
Big Herman
Scunny
Shred
Tuffs
I'm now booked into to having granny tattooed
I've been allover Europe with these lads .
We have fans and an atmosphere no other club can replicate .
I moved to derby 6 years ago, there's 30 plus blades here who meet up regular.
We may never win scything but no club who ain't won a major trophy in 100 plus years would get the support we do .

All my mates take their kids to the games. My two lads and daughter came with me from about 6 years old. All their mates are Blades with the odd grunter tagging along.

I don’t recognise the problem you suggest. Perhaps most sit in the family stand?

I think this is a very valid point.
With all the legal and illegal streaming services kids can watch whatever team they want every week. Add to that how much going to a game costs then what's stopping a 11yr old kid saying he's 'Citeh' just because he has a dodgy stick and a Ifollow?

There's a good fair few, certainly grew since I just starting going in the early 2000's when we got about 12k total a game.

Do you remember when we were getting 12k in the 80’s. Dads were too scared to take their kids to the games. But look at us now Bramall Lane is almost too small for us. As young fans we all remember our first game and 9 times out of 10 there is usually no turning back.

I go with our 3 lads, 22yrs, 16yrs & 8yrs, we are all ST holders. We miss very few games between the 4 of us, and the youngest is an absolute Blades nut!!.
Lots of kids sit near us in the Westfield Corner, there's a good mix of ages and more than enough youngsters to take our places when we 'shuffle off this mortal coil'!

Though I did note some seats around us and in the BLUT, which are often taken by the casual supporters were empty, that may be owing to our current run of results (up until yesterday), which probably accounts for the slightly lower attendance yesterday!.
I reckon the future fan situation at SUFC is quite good.

I know where you're coming from but I think this is more of an issue for our S6 neighbours the longer they are out of the Premier league.

It's success like promotion that gets kids into becoming regulars. It's what started me back in 70/71. My Dad was a Blade so it was an easy for him to take me.

At any age under 13 it doesn’t really matter what a child thinks in terms of who they support. As long as it’s the Blades after. It’s the strength of the parent that’ll decide that and don’t talk to me about “tHeY sUpPoRT WhO tHEy wANt” bollocks. Grow a pair!!!!!!

It’s an interesting point.

After that first win against Wolves, we are left with a situation where the results will always be more important than the football performance.
Most blades supporters are grown up enough to accept that, but youngsters, not so much.

Is hard work and graft enough, even if it’s sprinkled with the likes of Archers sublime finish, and a last kick of the game penalty?

Youngsters raised under early Wilder, and even Hecky in the championship, will expect more football.
Face the reality, that Norwoods best days are over, and Hamer and McAtee have to be played out of position to get a tune out of them, and how long can we go on where points matter more than the football?
