I really don't think so.

There are several players that won't have forgotten how he laid into them, this well known interview being the main example.

He's not a fan of signing or playing non-British players, and we now have several of them.

He also hasn't succeeded since leaving us and doesn't have significant pedigree/contacts in the game.

Has the Prince even considered this aspect?

Given how many players we have who have never played under him, how could you make that prediction?

Word and reputation gets around.

If you were working at a company and heard that you were having a new manager that had certain questionable tendencies (I haven't even mentioned the walking out aspect and taking several new contracts) it would be natural to have some reservations

"Wilder doesn't like foreign players Gustavo!"
...
"Wasn't two of his biggest signings Mousett and Berge?"

Uhhhhhm, yeah, but we like to call him a Brexit Blade for no apparent reason.

Players are professionals, doubt they're that bothered who the manager is.
They know these arrangements are only temporary.
I also doubt that any players at the club now are happy with the way things are going, how they're being asked to play, being humiliated each week and watching their team mates pick up more injuries every week or not being able to finish 90 minutes because of the piss poor training and conditioning. Are you seriously telling me that any of them are happy to continue like this until the end of the season so they can look back one day and tell their grandkids "Listen kid, Grandpa once played in the Premier League, but I don't want to talk about it." There's something called professional pride and right now they have none, nor self respect.

Players like to win football matches, in the short to medium run if he became manager, if!!! Then if we win matches they will adopt him

Which ‘questionable tendencies’ are you referring to?

Atleast he got a reaction from them mostly.

What exactly was wrong with what he said? Maybe we would have had a reaction this year if Hecky told the players how it is in public? We lauded Wilder when he slated Henderson after the mistake vs Liverpool, complimenting his man management. No different here, he knows the players and what motivates em.

I'm not advocating Hecky going or Wilder coming back. What we should be is respectful of 2 managers that have done great things for us.

Isn't one of the latest rumours that Baldock was unhappy with how his latest injury has been managed.

You always bang on about the Leicester interview, the players are big boys, they can take a telling off.

He’d have no choice but to play the players we have, most of the foreign ones are our supposed better players.

I’m indifferent to him coming back but the players he managed at that time speak well of his time at the club and reflect fondly on the interviews I’ve heard.

The other thing that FMBlade1 doesn’t seem to consider in his obsession with the Leicester interview is that the players won’t even have seen it, and on top of that they’d have heard much worse from Wilder in the changing room in games during his tenure. It’s very naive to think that Leicester interview had any bearing on the performance of our players.

Well it's not like during those interviews they are going to like 'Yeah he was a complete **** when things started going south'

Of course we are speculating here I know

Ok fair enough but that interview, to me and some others, was a worrying snapshot of what may have been occuring in the changing room in how he manages things. Of course I hope I'm wrong and that they would welcome him back and improve significantly but I am concerned

He’s a cock when things aren’t going for him, I’ve played for a club where he managed much earlier in his career. I love what he did for us last time around but he’s not a nice bloke all the time, particularly in a football context.

He’ll have been managing things that way in the changing room throughout all of the good times.

So what were the ‘questionable tendencies’ that you referred to in one of your previous posts? You haven’t replied to my question on that.

Clough and Ferguson werent nice blokes if the players let them down.

I seem to remember an awful lot of social media posts from the players for the "gaffer" when he left. If the players hated him when he left, I imagine there would have been silence.

There's enough reasons why he might not be wanted back, I don't think there's anything in this one at all.

Read my post above.

I never had direct dealings with him, was always one step removed. But the mentality was carried throughout the club, he was a bully.

Not saying he was wrong though.

Loved that interview .

Wilder's track record since United has been utter dogshit. He's done absolutely nothing. Nothing at all worth any recognition.
Yes he did amazingly well with United. Then he had a terrible season the we were relegated...and so what Covid, everyone suffered it...
But really, what has he said in this "infamous" interview that rankles with people? Did he hurt the feelings of the poor little footballers?
Did he really throw them under the bus? I don't hear it in this interview...just hear his utter disappointment and the fact he is bitterly disappointed with the performance of his team. Nowt wrong with that as far as I can see.
All the rest of the Wilder back story can be debated til the cows come home and after him leaving United and doing absioutely nothing of any note with anyone since, I'm not so sure him coming back is gonna be a great idea, but in this instance, this interview...he got it right as far as I can see..

It's the kind of disappointment/ anger a manager has when he expects the team to compete for results IMO. You could say they get a bit of a free pass at the minute from the management staff.
