When things are very tight - as they often are concerning relegation and promotion - one can at least hope for a level playing field.
We were winning at Chelsea and blew it by woeful defending, therefore the reason the Segers affair became relevant is because we were shit.
If we hadn't gone all negative half way through the season, Bolton away being the prime example, the Tevez affair would be irrelevant. Blowing it at home against the all mighty Wigan pretty much confirms that by that stage of the season we were shit.
Ched gets done for rape, we sulk and scrape our way through the rest of the season because we were like a bunch of mardy girls. If one or two had have grown a pair it would have been irrelevant but they didn't, and in the end we were shit.
We still have the chance to get points on the board in what is a truly shit league. If we can't muster enough points to go up automatic at this level, and with no discernable disadvantage apart from a nightmare of a chairman who has no interest in football then it's deja vu time. Some would say we were unlucky because there were a few puddles on the pitch and the poor little professional athletes weren't fit enough to play a few games close together at the end of the season. Some would look at the team, the squad, the board of directors and say "Yep, those were bad days, we were well and truly SHIT".
