Heard plenty saying he wasn't good enough for this league and I thought he had earned his place to see how he faired in this league. I think he's done alright considering. I mean dont get me wrong we've got issues, relegation issues, he's somewhat instrumental but in the grand scheme of things he's a tambourine in an orchestra

Might be a tad misleading this one. Could be that we're just allowing a lot of low percentage shots compared to clear cut chances. Those 22 shots per game generated just under 23 xGa, compare that with Fulham, who with the same number of games played are allowing 11.5 shots per game (I am using whoscored for that figure, if only because it matches the count the OP used), but are up at over 15 xGa, so the shots they do allow are typically better chances than those we do

Sure, we could definitely do with cutting down the volume, don't disagree with that, but that's probably more easily done by improving ball retention and possession, rather than changing anything fundamentally defensively. You WANT the opposition to shoot from positions where, if we had the ball at the other end, half the Kop would be shouting "shoooooooooooooot", you want quality over quantity.
