I am planning to take my son Tom (age 9) to the Preston game and would appreciate some advice on the best place to sit.

I understood the John Street stand was for families, but looking at the picture of availability on the club web site this stand is full? What is the score regarding the South stand? or family corner?

I will phone the box office when I have a bit more of an idea/few options.

We also have tickets for the Crucible to watch the snooker in the evening. Should be a great weekend to remember.

Tony.

Take him up in the Westfield corner, excellent view, not too crowded and easy to buy the stuff he'll want at half time or before the game.

Plus he won't need to be 6ft tall to see the pitch. Hopefully that'll turn out to be a good thing.

But warn him his seat will be facing the pitch before you go, don't want to disapoint the young un' too much when he first gets there!

Or join the standees at the bottom of the Kop, friendly bunch :)

On Saturdays performance see if you can find some seats facing away from the pitch :)

Seems an apt time to ask.

When do you think is the best time to take my little boy to his first match. He's 17 months now and almost certainly won't sit for 90 mins, but I don't know when the best time will be

I think the John Street isn't available online - you need to call to get tickets owing to the restrictions (one child per two adults) as the website can't cope with that.

We (Mrs Balham, Mrs Balham's brother, his two kids, my brother and me) got tickets in there fine for Bournemouth last season.

I dunno about BDTBL with a young 'un, but I'm thinking of lopping three inches off my legs and sitting on the first 7 rows at Portsmouth...

Please note rows A-G are unsuitable for anyone under 5’4” due to a wall at the front of the stand.

Wouldn't recommend emergency amputation Linz, for once it's a football club advising that you need to be tall to sit in certain seats :)

If you don't mind missing the last 10 minutes of the first half and the first 20 of the second.

Westfield is good for kids, a lot of junior football clubs get free tickets for this area. Young Tidza also enjoys sitting in first 10 rows of South Stand, good place for photos with Captain Blade!

I first took young Tidza when he was about 3 or 4, was far more interested in the crowd than the game. I suppose it's a matter of personal choice really, knowing what a handfull kids can be, especially in crowded places!

Thanks fellas for advice. I am going to give box office a ring. Crucible Tickets arrived this morning. :)

Cheers, Tony.

Jss Family stand , if you can stand the swearing ,if not fuck off to the Westfield :)

careful, taking him to watch us could land you up on child cruelty charges. havent you got a nice fence you can paint, then let him watch that til it dries?

well...i was gonna use the "a seat facing away from the pitch" line, but that ones been covered already.

I took mine first time when he was 9 - but we live 100 miles from Shef
His favourite season since he started was the 2003 tripple assault

Looking at him now I know I have scarred him for life
