There were lots of players today busting a gut to impress-/ get in fitness- but Fleck was decidedly going through the motions. I don't get it- looks like the most fun ever in comparison to dull boring jobs we have to do. He don't know how lucky he is.

Strange, because in the (admittedly short) training clips we saw from Portugal, it looked like Fleck was a machine, and was reminded of a quote from the Wilder years 'whichever team Flecky's on in training always wins'.

He did ok but no way was he as good as Fleck was then.

When he accumulates a few games in a row he seems to wane

He should start about 25 games

In general , I agree with that assessment . Whilst I admire the lad’s energy , enthusiasm and commitment he does seem to fall into the category of “ Jack of all trades and master of none “.

In fairness to him , he has been asked to play in a wide variety of roles and generally not let us down , apart from when he was played at LCB , a position he is clearly not cut out for .

His best position is almost certainly that normally held by Fleck and is the one in which I feel we are most lacking , given the many lacklustre performances of the latter over the last two seasons .

The reality in my view is that neither of them should be first choice in that role and that , failing the recruitment of a proven specialist in that position , both Max Lowe and RND could make a much better job of it than either of them.
