Sorry BTL. You went to all that bother to explain it when all you needed to do was ask Matt. He has the figures and it went on wages.

Of course I don't have the figures but its a very realistic theory. Everything on here is a debate. A theory. An opinion. I think my theory is very conceivable.

Without the sale of Blackman we wouldn't have been in a position to bring in Robson & Forte and to hazard another guess, they probably knew he was leaving and so were given the go ahead to sign Hig & Murph

to be fair Blackman was at a prem side , that was badly run and must have been gagging to get back to one (even if that ones struggling a bit), , we have to proceed with the best we can afford thats decent at this level, as we have to balance the books as well as strengthen as best we can

Thought Jonathan did very well last night, looked lively and took his goal well. Looked well happy to be back judging from his goal celebration!

lets wait until the end of April shall we because if were 7th and forte and murphy have been shite then no apology needed plus lets remember who we just beat bottom 4 and just above, got bournemouth next week lets see what they are made of.

TRANMERES LOST A FEW AS HAVE DONNY against lesser teams , trouble is when your flying high , all teams are lesser teams had we been bottom wed be saying how great it is beating teams like bury , perspective, an owls fan said to me you havent beaten any of the top teams , but I said we beat Bournemouth 5-3 they are top , they werent when you beat them he said , so perspective says we never can beat anyone whos any good , but the record books say we have
so anyone who beat tottenham when they started badly and were bottom for 6 games , wins were meaningless even though spurs qualified for europe, no if you beat spurs it was a good win

It's a point I've made repeatedly. There isn't a top six until the end of the season. Until then nobody knows what record you have against the 'top six'. Delete the defeat at Milton Keynes and victory over Stevenage? Include the win at Yeovil? Who knows? Nobody....yet! It's all bollocks.

the sale of any player is an incoming , true , but seeing our incomings are falling well short of our running costs its going to cut the losses,
weve lost more in tv money than what weve got in, 10 or so live games in the championship at 85k a pot has become 1 40k fee for the game at notts county three quartes of a million loss

dont forget gates are down and we are offering far more "deals" just to try and make up the loss
22000 average for eg in the championship , is now 18000 rounding it up /down
so every game we are 4000 £25 quids down, or a £100K x 23 = 2,3 million quid loss of gate money

exactly the loss that covers the sale of blackman and others
and thats not taking in the loss of the sales of pies drinks programmes team shirts to those now missing

Just a point, wouldn't you eat more pies if the football were crappier?

Too right!!

Swansea were top of the premiership for the first 3 or 4 games. I bet Man Utd are glad they didn't have to play them in August as it would've been a top of the table clash. Now when the play Swansea they'll just beat them.

Or you could have said...Bury were tht worried about him they defender deep and Forte always had two players on him. He closed down well but was sometimes outmuscled. Howeverhe was lively in and around the box and took his goal well.

Dreadful ? no
Out muscled? Yes sometimes by two defenders considerably bigger than him
Slow to react-? You serious ? He was trying to anticipate the flicks off Kitson and the passes from the midfield all game
Lucky first touch for the goal ? Quick to react from it and an excellant finish

Keith Edwards was often shit in games, barely touching the ball but you knew he would score us a winner more often thn not

Thought Forte's movement was very good, better than Blackman's, let alone Cofie's. He made numerous runs in behind them and down the channels, and as you say Bury had to drop deeper and keep watching their backs because he was always on the run.

We shouldn't expect him to be very strong with his back to goal, and we may see his pace be even more effective against slower markers than he met against Shrewsbury and Bury. In both he faced loanees, Shrewsbury had Mambo on loan from Charlton and Bury had Zubar on loan from Bournemouth and they are both strong and quick. He tired a bit second half, but that is to be expected when he makes so many runs off the ball.

I'm not convinced he'll be a great goalscorer/finisher for us, but I've been encouraged by his two first starts. It is no coincidence that both our defenders and Doyle and McDonald have enjoyed a little more time on the ball in these two games.

the point i was making is that we have just beat to very poor sides that doesn't mean a massive amount. The teams we have lost to in previous weeks wanted it more thats what worried me, Now if we take 4 points out of the next 2 then yes maybe were back but if we take 1 or none then i'd say and so will others were back to square one. As for the players scoring there first goal, i think they need a few more to prove if they were a good signing.

Neither was Blackman to be fair other than penalties. Even when he played upfront his goals from open play to games ratio wasnt great.

Blackman's positioning and anticipation was poor when he played up front. At Swindon it was Porter and Blackman up top; Porter is a decent target man adept at bringing whichever quick striker he's up front with into the game but he had no chance with Blackman in that game.

Technically Blackman was excellent. Mentally he wasn't: he had poor anticipation and movement. Forte will score more goals per game between now and the end of the season (excluding penalties as I think Kitson will take over spot kick duty).

3 goals?!! i take back all my criticism of the obvious unsung hero of the kop for whom we should all bow down!
Hail Akinbiyi!
now blow my mind further and tell me he actually scored 4?!! :D

The title of this thread is misleading. I assumed there would be an apology from Forte about getting injured so soon after signing, but there's no apology in sight.

3 in 18 appearances. a long way from being our worst ever striker. And don't goals against Wednesday count as 100?

At least 100 if they occur at The Sty!

Badbuy, D'jaffo, Littlejohn, Cork, Billy Punton, Mick Hill. Not a list of players who I rejoiced at the sight of, but all scored against the pigs and can, therefore, be held in some esteem.

Bobby Ford should definitely go on this list too...

Do you ever question your monotonous tone?

Try writing a sentence without the words "McCabe" or "KM". Bet you can't do it

Maybe you could try typing a post without him standing behind you

Bleep, Bleep. Message from HSBC. "You have received funds from Australia via Belgium"

He did - he got one in the 2-4 League Cup defeat v Birmingham in Oct 2006.

:-)

4 goals? why did we ever sell him?!!

good strike by monty too

From what I can remember the goal he scored against Blackpool at Bramall Lane in March 2010 was an exact carbon copy.

He must have been well practiced at striking a ball as it came across his body.
