Didn't think you can tackle in softy league?!To be fair the lad looks very athletic ,and loves a tackle what's not to like ,and another 6.1 player
Wasn't it you decrying another poster when they said we needed someone in the middle of the park to break things up? Apologies if I've forgotten or misunderstood.
Probably, but the other guy was talking in terms of wanting a modern day Monty or someone who would be a walking red card in the modern game, rather than someone that plays DM as if it's 2023 and not 2003, winning the ball with workrate, pressing, positioning and some form of physicality rather than just flying into challenges
Berge departs down the Souza canal.....I'll get me coatDon't forget, if Burnley want to use Berge against City they have to register him a day earlier than us because they play City on Friday not Saturday.
Given that Souza is apparently undergoing his medical with us while Berge is doing the same at Burnley right now, I'd be surprised if the announcement from us wasn't something along the lines of "Berge departs and Souza signs at the same time".
Would that be the Blue Moon ?A trip to the moon on gossamer wings![]()
I think we'll count Slimane as a midfielder and the target after Souza will be 3 MF plus 2 strikers , that's 5 of starting quality - 2 loans & 3 transfers - MINIMUM.yes we do still need 4 more creative players to come in but were crying out for a defensive midfielder like souza to sit in front of our back 3 win the ball back and give it these creative midfielders hopefully were bringing in obrien doyle hamer and palmer would do for me oh and another striker and a keeper to challenge wes i reckon we need 6 in
From Coutts to Norwood to Doyle, the team's been used to having a playmaker always showing for the ball in that position. Will be interesting to see how he fits in and how he impacts our play. The attacking stats don't bother me. He's not in the team to do those things, and we have no idea about Espanyols tactics - they were in a relegation battle so he might have just had rubbish around him.
It's a good point. Perhaps the playmakers will sit either side of him? From Coutts to Norwood to Doyle, the team's been used to having a playmaker always showing for the ball in that position. Will be interesting to see how he fits in and how he impacts our play.
At the moment I reckon the priority will be a couple of midfielders (both regular CM and CAM) and 1 Striker but I reckon we will look at 2 Strikers if we can get the midfield sorted out first.I think we'll count Slimane as a midfielder and the target after Souza will be 3 MF plus 2 strikers , that's 5 of starting quality - 2 loans & 3 transfers - MINIMUM.
Any spare cash for cover in defence.
Yes maybe, but we need to find one! It's a good point. Perhaps the playmakers will sit either side of him?
Or under Hecky are we expecting to move more to a counter attacking team given we will probably have less of the ball next season
Akpom?Yes maybe, but we need to find one!
Defending could be a strength if Trusty and Souza do well and especially if RND returns. So if we can keep some clean sheets, maybe counter attacking and set pieces can give us some wins? But we will need more attacking threats or it will be one way traffic every game.
In fairness to Norwood, having Souza doing all of the dirty work (tackling, interceptions etc) might allow him to focus more on creating the chances we know he can create.Next to Souza Norwood might actually have a good season depending on what else happens recruitment wise.
His weakness is his lack of athleticism but he’s good at interceptions and has his ping.
Those two could sit deeper and have 3 forwards ahead of them. So long as the 3 forwards were excellent.
Don’t get me wrong it’s not my preferred option I’d rather have Doyle next to Souza but Norwood was excellent in our first prem season and for 2/3rds of last season.
Someone pointed out our chances created last season….
1. Norwood
2. Ndiaye
3. Berge
4. Doyle
5. McAtee
And they basically created them for each other. Norwood can’t create chances for himself. Even less so if he’s not in the team.
Souza isn’t creative and neither is O’Brien, both of which we haven’t even signed.
People need to give their heads a wobble.
Got till Thursday to sign hasn’t he?Souza won’t be available Saturday
Not sure really. What did you see what they didn’t? Tarqs mattbianco1
could do with him saturday palace are a bit lively on the breakSouza won’t be available Saturday
We also have been somewhat easy to play against when that playmaker (generally in a quarterback role) has been nullified. The last PL season was embarrassing in terms of teams playing through us and scoring from central areas. From Coutts to Norwood to Doyle, the team's been used to having a playmaker always showing for the ball in that position. Will be interesting to see how he fits in and how he impacts our play.
your right ideally another 5 to come in before the end of august and im with you i would also like 2 more strikers to come in and like a few have been saying we might see better norwood this season with an enforcer like souza in midfieldI think we'll count Slimane as a midfielder and the target after Souza will be 3 MF plus 2 strikers , that's 5 of starting quality - 2 loans & 3 transfers - MINIMUM.
