Andy Williams - Can't take my eyes off you...

Down at the boozer...
We had a pint with Vini Souza...

That's all I got 😬

I'd really like to get in something about my wife having a Brazilian wax 🤣

I have waited an eternity for the arrival of a player with this many syllables in his name, just to finally sing our own version of '
"Cecilia"...

And here it goes.......

Vinicius... He'll tear you apart,
(INSERT REST HERE / NEEDS MORE WORK)
🤣🤣

One thing that was really frustrating about berge is he never used his strength besides when driving with the ball. I’m not slagging him off because i definitely would prefer him to still be at the club when the transfer window ends but he never seemed to have that aggression and physicality which United fans love when defending
Osbourne wins more headers

You could’ve used that eternity to make a song up 🤣

Souza looks a decent signing.. IF we get the right players around him.

Snuffs out opposition chances well but I've seen or heard nothing that shows he can then transition the ball quickly from defense in attack.

Like others have said I don't think this is a guy who will keep possession ticking over.

My concern with this signing is sure he'll get the ball off the opposition but it's just going to come straight back at us over and over again.

All well and good, we've needed a DM for a while, but after Saturday's display, we desperately need bodies up front.

We've signed Nicky Montgomerinho?
12M EUR seems bloody expensive. Was hoping he'd be 7/8ish.

Big chunk of our "please Prince, can we have some more" budget will be gobbled up.

Has he had a decent pre season? No point signing players who've not kicked a ball like alot of our current players.

Osula and Treore never had any service because we had no transition from our defence to the final 3rd. Bring in as many strikers as you want but they won’t score if they are not played in.

Well Traore did set up Osula for a 1 on 1 tbf

But yes I agree with your point... Signing Souza will be redundant without creativity.

Yeh not saying they’re no good, quite the opposite. But I think that was the only chance they got. We need to be creating more chance for strikers to convert not more strikers (although Osula isn’t PL ready).

I accept that from a tactical point of view, but how does signing a midfield enforcer who I understand from one stat I read on here, contributed 1 goal and 1 assist for Espanyol last season - contribute to playing in that attack?

It’s not 1 player we need. He could free Berge from defending MF to foray forwards plus we need a replacement creative player.

Think Hecky / SUFC had a plan built around Ndiaye but he’s 100% to blame for holing that plan below the waterline. Fans are too blinded by the loss of the best player many have seen since the likes of Curry, Woody, Deane, Asaba et Al to see the damage he single handedly inflicted on Hecky with his unacceptable late change of heart.

Fair point mate, can't disagree with any of that, well put. Saturday definitely showed we were at least 3/4 players short. Always thought we needed an enforcer in our Championship spell, I think Slav identified that initially and then brought in Guediora for that role who never played (and he was a journeyman player at 35). We got by without one then, but we do need one now.

Just very concerned about the lack of options in our attack, considering the loss of N'Diaye too. Let's hope we bring a couple in if not before Saturday, before Forest away.

Even if Souza signs I think we need one more defensive midfielder (ideally on the left) and two attacking mids (one for each side) leaving one up top. I would have been happy with Souza and maybe O'Brien (although I'd prefer we go for a proper fighter like Ladislav Krejci) behind Berge and Palmer/McAtee. If Berge goes its another headache.

Definitely see where you are coming from. Osula is probably a 1 in 8 goals per strike rate or there abouts at PL level not U23s. To safely win matches with the strikers we got we will need to be creating 15-20 chances per match which top end clubs we will be lucky to get 2 or 3 we will be riding our luck with the strike "force" but you never know 1 goal and takes it forwards

According to Nixon it’s only 12m Euro if we win the champions league. Now I don’t think that is a serious clause so my assumption is making a point that it’s significantly less. £7/8m maybe?
Would that be more inline with your expectations?

Not writing Osula off at all, I actually think he always looks a little bit sharper than Jebbison personally, even though Jebbison has more clout if we believe the Everton and the European interest is true.

No issues with the defence including Anel and Trusty who'll give us some pace, the midfield with an enforcer like Souza if he comes, might just compete against the Palace's, Forests etc, but we do desperately need some bite up top.

I know everyone wants it and it's the most expensive, difficult position to fill. Signing a forward is always the biggest gamble, whether it's Brewster for £25m, Akpom if we get him whose only had one good season last year, or a Traore whose a raw talent whose come from an unknown league. But it has to be a priority surely.

We could do With McAtee Palmer and Doyle.

Sign McAtee and Doyle permanently and get Palmer on loan that would be pushing it but would give a us a real chance.
