In fairness to the club if they consider a sale, Jebbo’s value is all about promise than actual performance.
He skipped the U23s largely and had a decent half season spell at Burton.
He’s not really made much of an impact since in the subsequent 18 months. He had a good game against Hull, screwed his opportunity a bit getting a petulant red vs Wrexham and has 2 goals and an assist in 684 mins over 19 games this past season and nothing in 8 games and 192 minutes after being recalled. A goal every 4 and a bit games last year and worse if you include the prior 6 months.
If the club is thinking that they’ll always have a McBurnie or a Brewster or any other senior striker always blocking the way, maybe the club thinks they have to make a choice at some point between Jebbo and Osula.
The latter didn’t skip the U23s and absolutely nailed it scoring 3s and 4s. He had a more challenging loan but one where his team was at the top. He SEEMS more aggressive and whilst his finishing looks not quite there this pre-season, many have seen him be very clinical in the U21s (as they now are) last season.
Maybe the club just don’t think Jebbo is developing at a pace they like and fancy trading on his goal vs Everton (which most would have scored).
They have Osula, Marsh (a different type of player but also a finisher) as well as McBurnie, Brewster and Traore.m plus probably one more to come. Perhaps they see more in Traore?
I just hope we don’t give him away for a daft price. But there is an argument that he simply hasn’t come on enough the last 18 months and we’d rather run with Traore, Osula and Marsh as younger strikers.
Hope he can kick on and can stay but at some point you need to make a decision. You can’t keep them all with maximum two striker spots.
