so the prince has been feeding his rhetoric to his minions and now everyone is to believe that after about 2 weeks of them and others saying Illy had changed his mind and wanted to stay, he is now going. What changed on Saturday at 17:00?

We will probably have a similar amount of debt when we get relegated, with only spending a pittance.

Everyone seems to be painting illy as the bad guy now.

From what has just surfaced! the Blades have been gilded at the alter.
If true that takes a lot of shine off Ndiah as we were all thinking he walked on water ! turns out he was walking on thin ice and fell through!
Disappointed
He made the club look foolish as well. Unforgivable.

I'm not quite suggesting that we hold each others' cocks and sing kumbaya, but this visceral need to find someone to blame is all bit dull isn't it?

Ili - gave us two seasons where he nearly and then did get us promoted. There were other players involved obviously, but without Ili I don't think we'd have made it. We owe him the opportunity to play for his dream club. He owes us nothing, and his agent and Dad certainly don't.

HRH - he backed us to the hilt in the Prem (if anything, there wasn't enough oversight of Wilder's transfers.) A pandemic came along and hammered our gate finances. We utterly fucked our second season (not least to a career ending injury to one of our best ever defenders). He ended up skint, the club ended up skint, we still have to balance the books and he doesn't want to play chicken with our biggest asset. He deserves criticism for his knicker flashing to any crook who says he's interested, but not for anything here IMO.

Marseille - we'd take advantage in the same way as they have done. Their supporters seem like cunts mind.

It's happened. We move on. It's looking like a fucking awful season ahead, but if it sorts out our finances and makes us more attractive to investors, then it's better than struggling in the Championship for another season (I think.)
I appreciate you're trying to do some sort of good here... but let's look at where we are. There are clubs in LG1 investing more in their team than us. We can't even field a full team of senior players. The dressing room will be rocked by the Ndiaye sale. No 2nd kit yet (not that anyone cares at this point) No main sponsor. And the fans are at each other and ready to burst! Hardly a formula for success is it.

Sort of exonerates Andy67 🤣
I’m gutted today. Absolutely gutted to the pit of my stomach and take no pleasure in feeling shit about all of this. I sometimes want to wake up and it’s all a nightmare but for the last couple of years this nightmare has been incessant, a bit like my posts on here. At times I know I’m accurate, times I’m not but what is happening is an utter disgrace.

On that subject, it's interesting that SUWay and Darren didn't "leak" that we were in an embargo or that the Prince wouldn't pay for our training ground upgrades isn't it...

They need to cut ties with the Prince now and stop doing his dirty PR work.
Particularly the leaking of reported targets. It's a distraction tactic to divert us away from the negative goings on.

They need to ask themselves whether they think Heckingbottom & co. approves of what they're doing? If the answer's no, then it's probably damaging the club they're clearly so passionate about.

No altruism here. I just think there's little point in trying to blame anyone for an impossible situation.

And you mistake me separating this sale from other issues at the club. While I think money (or lack thereof) is playing a massive part in our problems, I also think there's a lack of direction due to an owner who wants out and is scrimping and saving where absolutely possible.

For all the good HRH has done, I do think there's an element of him wanting to have his cake and eat it (lineup for tap ins). He wants to be involved with a Premier club and enjoy the prestige that brings. But he also wants out. That circle cannot be squared unfortunately.

Same cards the Swedish lad at Coventry had who sold him for 20m?
Not quite. The club there wasn't Gyokere's dream club and so he didn't want out passionately to them. I think if there were a stream of upper echelon clubs after Ili (at home and abroad) but no Marseille, we'd have got more for him.

There's no doubt though, Cov did very well in that deal.

Nathan Hemmingham has reported that we were that close to getting him to sign a new deal, we even filmed a announcement video with Ndiaye and Bettis to be released before the Estril game. Agonising if that's the case, but shows we could have had him tied up earlier if we'd been sensible with out contract management. Lessons certainly need to be learn't, especially with players like Jebbo and Osula in similiar positions in terms of their contracts

Seems odd that we'd film a video before it was even completed.

Could have been worse. He could have been playing for another Prem side this season against us!

Even worse, it could have been Forest!

We move on.

I would’ve personally gone and burned the Lane down if he was sold to Forest, so yeah, could’ve been worse I suppose.

. Our two fit strikers are players with limited lower league experience who are both out of contract next summer.

Ndiaye was the sticking plaster to cover up the fact we’re utterly fucked.

What this whole sorry saga signals to the whole word is that any of our players can once again be cherry picked on the cheap. This is what happens when the owner runs the club from an office in Ryhad they become out of touch with the reality in Sheffield and it is just criminal to let contracts run down to their last year. I expect all our better players and potential players to be targets now, I doubt Berge will be with us much longer and one of Jebbo and Osula will be poached. Sickening to think players in the Championship last season with half Ili's ability have been sold for more money this summer, we are in danger of having an half price fire sale. This is all down to the prince taking his eye off the ball time for him to fuck off sharpish and get a new owner who will run the club from the South stand boardroom if we still have such a thing.

Those deals never seem to happen for Sheffield United illi was twice the player Gyokeres will ever be

Could this not have happened on Friday night so I had weekend to get over it. As if Monday morning isn't shit enough!

I apologise I read it like you was trying to add a bit of calm to this shit storm.
I think there's too many issues right now (off the pitch) to not blame anyone. The reasons you give for the lack of endeavour are highly plausible!

Be interesting to see Ili on the bench all season after seeing their other signings and players already there.

No way is he a starter for them.
He will be when they actually realise how good he is and laugh at us some more for selling him.

Even if we take as absolute gospel the figures bandied about of £15m for N’Diaye and £20m for Gyokeres - we are only £5m or so ‘down’ from a market value, hardly game changing in the grand scheme of things or make or break for squad improvements. In that ball park I believe Sarr just went for £15m

Plus no one actually knows the ins and outs of the deal and any add ons or clauses.

Coventry probably got a bit better then market value and we probably got a touch lower.

He wanted to leave, we seemingly tried to keep him. It was always going to be sign or sell - don’t think the leaving on a free was ever truly an option. On top of this It seems his heart was set of Marseille, so no real bidding war to drive price upwards.

Crying shame on the outcome, but sometimes shit just happens. Maybe naively but don’t really see how this played out any differently
