I don't think Illiman has dicked us around, but it seems like his Dad and his Agent have clearly been stirring the pot for several weeks now.

The lad himself appears to have changed his mind, most recently (and decisively) over the weekend sadly.

He isn't helping the situation by parading around in a Marseille scalf however, before he has even had a medical. I accept that he has been mobbed by supporters, but he should be doing everything possible to play it down for now until things are official. He may not think he owes us anything, but he does owe us, and PH that.

Otherwise I wish the lad all the best. A truly fantastic player, who should go on to be a true great of the game.

I don't know Illy obviously, but the PULL of going HOME is something so powerful that many will never understand. I've lived away from HOME for over 30 years and that pull back has never waned. If you want to go back and it's doable then you do it while you can.Your kids get older in your adopted country and things become a lot harder.
A young man with his family is going home to play for his boyhood team and a dream chance to play in Champions League. His dream came true for him.
Good luck to Illy it's sad to see him leave but good luck in the future. He's going HOME!

The vitriol on here is getting ridiculous. Are folk seriously blaming Ndiaye for taking a while to make the biggest decision of his life? Angry at the club because we couldn't force him to sign a new contract? Furious at PA for not having more cash than the rest of us can ever dream of having? Irate at Hal and Nick for being the bearers of bad news? Incandescent at each other for having a different opinion?

This has that "Wilder leaving" feeling and I hope that the team don't suffer too much. The boy was loved by all and as many said in interviews and as we've all seen, "just give him the ball".

One day we may get another like him but it'll be many many years.
From the Marseilles side, there is a bit of similarity with Wilder joining to be honest.

If you recall he was almost done in terms of joining Charlton. Similarly here, Iliman appears to have at some point at least indicated he was fine to sign a new deal.

Then the emotion kicked in and the pressure to potentially not have the chance to manage or play for your boyhood team if you turn this down kicks in.

I just hope we got the best deal possible.

I don't find release clauses any comfort because he's joining them to be a club legend. He's not looking on them as being a stepping stone. If his thoughts were this way, then he'd be staying to get exposure the PL will give him.

Agree - Sell-on clauses are interesting in cases like this where they are seemingly worthless if a player stays on at their new club and becomes a success. I wonder if staying more than five years triggers an extra payment as part of the add-ons or that other enigmatic rights thingy that is apparently part of the sale.

Better hope he turns it on for them, reaches his potential and the big boys come knocking. We’ll get our 20% then I assure you.

What we can say with Hal and Nick on SUW is the next show with PA will be a stage managed Q&A nothing more. Fast just becoming PA's mouthpiece
What is your expectation?

Get him on tear him a new arsehole and then lose complete access to the club?

That would be a massive own goal. They may as well close the channel now.

Let other channels do that. The only loser will be the fans because then nobody would have that access.

I'm confident Hal will manage questions sensibly and put enough of the "what would you say to the fans who are saying x y z" questions to him without alienating the club.

If you want a more direct approach then I'd look for what Shoreham View come out with, but them and Sheff United Way occupy a different space. Both bring value and both can co-exist.

Hal is obviously a broadcaster and Nick has brought the channel from nothing.

Do they get it right all the time? No. I don't think Nick going with Prince Abdullah to Wembley will have resonated with all. Some will have been intrigued with the day out. But others will have felt flaunting an experience they couldn't have alienates them.

But nobody forces any of us to watch the videos. If it's not for you, then skip it.

I just think there has to be some realism that if the channel wishes to retain a relationship then they have to behave in a certain way. It's like when the Radio interviews managers. They can't completely go after them or they'll lose access. Then everyone loses.

People are frustrated, disappointed, angry but i just don't see taking it out on YorkBlade or Nick as being productive in any way.

Just my two cents. I don't deny you are entitled to your opinion just like anyone else.

Our Ndiaye documentary might be worth a rewatch. Suspect there would have been a big pull home.

Genuine question though, how often do we see potential signings singing songs with their new fans waving scarves before any announcement while still getting paid by the old club? If he fails his medical this will be extremely awkward for everyone involved. Doesn't sit right and is pretty disrespectful. Any one of our other players who we are less fond of doing this and there would be uproar!

I'm guttered about him leaving.

If it was in isolation I could sort of take it. He had 12 months left, wasn't signing reportedly the best contract in the clubs history and wanted to leave. Ok, understandable, get the best deal and begrudgingly move on.

What's annoying me more than anything is we're showing no signs of future planning at all!

We have so many of our first team out of contact at the end of the season and are currently significantly weaker than the team that got us up.

We're not even building a side capable of competing for championship promotion next season.

If we don't have the money for contract renewals and permanent signings in the prem now. What on earth are we going to do next season if we go down.

While I understand your point of view I think we cannot be certain whether this deal means we are not planning for the future.

If we get enough money and if we get in some more midfielders we could be investing in the future. I am not saying that we will. We have brought in some young players and there is Osula and Jebbison who have potential

The key is what happens to the money.

Osula and Jebbo both have a year left on their contracts just like illy. The same could easily happen to the them.
I'd be surprised if Jebbo was here by the end of the transfer window

This morning’s press reporting that we had everything agreed, even shot and edited the announcement video with Ndiaye excitedly handed the No.10 shirt and Billy doing a voiceover. Then the rug’s been pulled at the very last second. Unfortunately doesn’t paint him in the best light IMO. No problem with him wanting to join his boyhood club, but don’t walk us down the garden path, make everyone think you’re going to sign, waste weeks of everyone’s time and leave us in the shit 2 weeks before the season starts. I thought he’d be a bit better than that. A disappointing end in every regard.

We've lost a great player for pennies again, who's to blame, it's the Prince clearly, not protecting your assets with contracts is school boy stuff, but like he said, he knows nothing about football, he was clearly happy taking the cheap option and letting a World Cup player stay on 4k a week...

I've always supported the prince, and he's almost bankrupted himself if you believe what he's said before, but he's let the dozy fiasco prevent him from doing the basics and I'm having real doubts now about the future, he seems to be cost cutting, Berge is another one who looks like he's not re- signing now, Jebbo and Osula will be next..

As for hal and nick getting the interview, I can't fucking wait, those moaning at them will be refreshing their youtube every 5 minutes.

Remember without the SUW it'd be my guess we'd be getting fuck all information.

Again, if one party to the contract won’t sign it, what exactly are you supposed to do?

Could we have let him run his contract down. Would this have been the fans second choice and let him go for free. Personally I would have preferred that just to see him in the prem.
He obviously didn't want to play in the Prem.
If it is true that he shot a video confirming he was signing a contract with us, and told the players, and then decided to change his mind at the weekend,it doesn't make me think he would have given 100% in all games if he decided to see out his existing contract

Nathan Hemmingham has reported that we were that close to getting him to sign a new deal, we even filmed a announcement video with Ndiaye and Bettis to be released before the Estril game. Agonising if that's the case, but shows we could have had him tied up earlier if we'd been sensible with out contract management. Lessons certainly need to be learn't, especially with players like Jebbo and Osula in similiar positions in terms of their contracts

It’s a damn shame. We will have to do it the old fashioned Blades way and bludgeon our way through games😉
But seriously without Illy’s obvious skill and unique style I feel we will turn to outright speed of attack. We’ve got a couple of racing snakes already and I think that will be the main attribute of the new forward signings.

Which sort of exonerates Rocket Man
