Saying he shouldn't be posing with a scarf etc. It's as good as done. He was playing on Saturday ffs he isn't crocked
I imagine its a bit like seeing love of your life all over social media sunning it up with the new fella.

Can't help but wish the lad good luck but this doesn't half sting.

From what has just surfaced! the Blades have been gilded at the alter.
If true that takes a lot of shine off Ndiah as we were all thinking he walked on water ! turns out he was walking on thin ice and fell through!
Disappointed

Again, if one party to the contract won’t sign it, what exactly are you supposed to do?

When he breaks into the first team, you get him round the table then, you dont leave it until its too late, that's what's went wrong, and that's what we are supposed to do, not leave him on 4k while the rest are on 20k plus, in your workplace this happens, you say fuck em eventually.

This side of the Pennines I’m surrounded by Liverpool / Man U fans who know nothing about football outside the prem. The only thing that I was looking forward to about a season in the prem was Ndiaye tearing them apart and telling them that he was our academy product.

For me, regardless of the financial situation I just wanted to see the best player that I have ever seen in a Blades shirt play for us in the top league. Watch Shearer etc drool over him like he is a complete unknown.

As a fan I feel robbed of this opportunity that probably won’t come around again. Only silly money would have made it palatable to miss out on this.

A sad day for all of us who watch SUFC to be entertained.

Let’s put another angle on it however hard it is
Let’s say he had signed for us then as we know all the hope of survival and a good season depended on illy playing on top form for the whole season without getting injured, losing form or being marked out of the game like teams did with Norwood to stop us playing.
We would then have been forced into plan B which we wouldn’t have had so at least this way yes we don’t now have that flair or spark but maybe IF we bring in 5/6 new players with a bit better quality then we might actually be making the squad, team stronger and more of a combined unit with a plan A,B and C if needed.
Obviously this depends on who we bring in but let’s not throw the towel in just yet we still have a season to have a good crack at illy might have gone but the club is still there so let’s see what happens by September 1st and give the team full support ⚔️⚔️⚔️

Could we have let him run his contract down. Would this have been the fans second choice and let him go for free. Personally I would have preferred that just to see him in the prem.

I think he'd have signed a new deal if we'd hung onto him beyond the transfer window.

We just needed to hold our nerve with OM.
We'd have had six months in his ear dangling the dollar signs in front of him.

I don’t think the club could’ve done much more, Illy was obviously always going to opt for OM as this last U turn has proven.
Hecky is pragmatic enough to realise the reality of this, he has been preparing for it.
What this has shown us is there are low cost players around like Anel / Berge / Illy rather than trying to outdo teams with deep war chests.

We must get the finance structure sorted in a realistic affordable way

Not get bullied into paying over 10mill for a player

Keep looking for these fringe players that suit our style of play

And develop our academy players

This won’t be done in just one season, but I believe we can perform better than 3 or 4 of the lower end premier league teams this year
Luton / Everton / wolves / Forest
And survive

Then regroup the season after , and accept that Berge will probably do an Illy

Im baffled by people’s comments stating he was our glimmer of hope of surviving in the prem. I find this a ridiculous comment. No doubting he’s an exceptional player but he hasn’t proved anything in the premier league before. For all we know he could not have been the prem player we thought he might have become, Who knows.

If Illy isn’t a Premier League player, then none of our first team is. He was comfortably our best player.

I never said he wasn’t. He most definitely was our best player. What I’m saying, is he hasn’t proved himself in the premier league. So how people come to the assumption that he would have single handedly kept us up is baffling. Id rather have a solid all round team to compete than relying on one player to keep us up.

I'm not quite suggesting that we hold each others' cocks and sing kumbaya, but this visceral need to find someone to blame is all bit dull isn't it?

Ili - gave us two seasons where he nearly and then did get us promoted. There were other players involved obviously, but without Ili I don't think we'd have made it. We owe him the opportunity to play for his dream club. He owes us nothing, and his agent and Dad certainly don't.

HRH - he backed us to the hilt in the Prem (if anything, there wasn't enough oversight of Wilder's transfers.) A pandemic came along and hammered our gate finances. We utterly fucked our second season (not least to a career ending injury to one of our best ever defenders). He ended up skint, the club ended up skint, we still have to balance the books and he doesn't want to play chicken with our biggest asset. He deserves criticism for his knicker flashing to any crook who says he's interested, but not for anything here IMO.

Marseille - we'd take advantage in the same way as they have done. Their supporters seem like cunts mind.

It's happened. We move on. It's looking like a fucking awful season ahead, but if it sorts out our finances and makes us more attractive to investors, then it's better than struggling in the Championship for another season (I think.)

We won’t have a solid all round PL team. Our two fit strikers are players with limited lower league experience who are both out of contract next summer.

Ndiaye was the sticking plaster to cover up the fact we’re utterly fucked.

So it's 15 million with 'achievable' add ons?

If that's the case it's all about how much the add ons are and how achievable they are.

that's an awful deal if true. So in layman's terms we might get 15 if he wins the Champions league with OM and scores 30 goals otherwise it's probably more like 10...

Edit. I really hope these achievable add ons are appearance based and nothing else. UNLESS we are deliberately saying it's less money than we actually have received so we don't get our pants pulled down for other players.

I've been reading it as north of 15m with add ons on top. Still not great, but Ili holds the cards.

Literally couldn't disagree more. They couldn't have done any less.

Let's say you ran the club and you'd decided not to offer any new contracts because all your eggs were nestling in a Tingo branded basket. Do you think you might've watched Ndiaye last season and thought about making an exception?

Let's really stretch the truth and pretend we really turned down a bid from Everton, would you not have offered a new contract at that stage to back up such a wonderfully strong show of intent?

15 million plus add ons mate.

Don't know for certain that's correct but it's the most reliable media source I've seen so far.

You seem to know a bit cooperblade .

I've heard a couple of bits, I heard that the Prince actively tried to sell both Ndiaye and Berge in January.
That we accepted an offer from Everton for Ndiaye, but that he refused to negotiate with them.
And that we never received a concrete offer for Berge, so he stayed.

I also heard that we were actively marketing Ndiaye out for £11m earlier in the Summer hoping to start a bidding war and that we're actively trying to sell Berge now.

All this stuff about the Prince "holding his nerve in January" is just PR spin he's putting out there through Darren and SUWay.

Have you heard similar?

Not like we haven't had previous experience of this. Sold Deane and we ended up relegated, Hulse breaks his leg and out for the season and we end up relegated.

Nathan Hemmingham has reported that we were that close to getting him to sign a new deal, we even filmed a announcement video with Ndiaye and Bettis to be released before the Estril game. Agonising if that's the case, but shows we could have had him tied up earlier if we'd been sensible with out contract management. Lessons certainly need to be learn't, especially with players like Jebbo and Osula in similiar positions in terms of their contracts

Whilst we'll get over this like we always do one way another it feels different this time. Most of know Illy is better than anything we've ever seen in a United shirt and the chances of that ever coming round again, who knows? Maybe it's more than 13 million, 17 million, 20 million?

But to me he was priceless to this club and that's why any amount would have hurt. I'd rather have kept him and had the job of seeing him play for us on the PL next season. To me he's worth £100million plus.

Hadn't read this comment when I wrote mine but you've pretty much summed it up exactly the same.
