That's interesting.
It sounds like our starting point is where I'd want us to be: £35m release clause, which maybe drops to about £25m if we're relegated.

Problem is, we don't hold much leverage on this one. If we have to, we might have to drop it by as much as £10m for both scenarios.
We'd still have to consider that a good result.

There's been a lot of talk (which I've been involved in) about how credible certain media sources are. Alan Nixon, despite the shit he gets, does tend to be in and around it when it comes to us.
As I've said before, any release clause is an improvement over where we are now.

If £0 clause has to turn in to £10m so be it, it's £10m more than we have at the moment.

I tell you what if he lights up the prem I want ALOT more than the 25m people are mentioning on here if we stay up.
If he's that good then it will be the market, not his release clause, that determines his value.

If he signs a 3 year deal and tears up the EPL next season the Club will be effectively signing away a significant amount of any future transfer fees if they agree to the agents demands. What does the agent want as a release clause? £13.2m euros so that he can walk away to Marseille at the end of next season?

Yes we all want him to sign but the Club are rightly looking at figures that seem reasonable at £35m and £25m respectively should we get relegated. I'm guessing on the £25m but we did reduce Berges valuation by this amount when we went down. There should be a clause inserted in the contract to review these figures should we stay up and Ndiayes star has risen. Any less and we may as well sell him to the highest bidder this window imo.

If this is true seems the agent is angling for him going at the end of next season anyway irrespective of the contract length so we should play hard ball and stand firm on our valuations as we don't want other agents seeing this as a precedent to low ball us on their players valuations. Clubs need to control the narrative not agents. The interests of SUFC outweigh those of an agent who seems intent on getting his player out of the Club on his terms.
With that attitude he won't sign a new contract.

His interest is in protecting his future, not the value of our assets.

Then we will have been royally screwed over. We need to protect the club, in a world where 17m+ is the standard for a top champ forward id be wanting alot more for a top quality player if we stayed in the premier league. Nothing astronomical but 25m couldn't even buy us half the player Ndiaye is and could be IMHO. ⚔️
The 17m is a red herring in my opinion
I'm pretty sure that if it were the acceptable amount to us he would be gone now but that's just my opinion from trying to garner the nuts of truth from the behemoth of shit that surrounds this rumour
Yeh that makes sense, 17 mill and not one prem team thinking fuck me that’s cheap

Is there such a thing as a notification when a thread is "Confirmed", with an "Ignore" for everything else? Asking for a friend (who looks a bit like me).
I've been around a bit and believe me, there is no one else out there that looks remotely like you, even less chance of a friend!

See you next month ;)

Because if he is willing to sign for more than one team, then market forces become involved.

Not how it works buddy. A minimum release clause is automatically accepted by all parties at that price.

It's then down to player to decide which club to join based on what they're offering personally.

We can't just reject a bid which hits our minimum release clause price just because someone else bids more.

He won't be lighting up the prem though if he doesn't sign a new deal.

Never believed we'd let Berge go for 10 m. Was some desperate press comment likewise if any club want Ndiaye now for the up coming season it has to be on our terms . We have to building replacing him.
Forest could get near offering O'BRIEN and MGW

No it would be the release clause in terms of value of a transfer fee.
On reconsidering I get that.

It will be the players decision where he goes, rather than ours to sell to the highest bidder.

I stand by my comments about any release clause puts us in a better position than we are in now so his actual market value is pretty irrelevant.

We can only get a release clause that his agent will agree to otherwise if he stays for next season he walks for free and there's nowt we can do about it.

We have no power in this negotiation.

Agreed.

I got my Sunday morning brain in gear and landed on the same page 👍

Maybe the Prem teams heard that we thought £17m was a ludicrous amount.
If we'd looked in any way interested in selling at that price there might have been an awful lot more interest

Could we not offer Ndiaye and his agent a portion of any future transfer fee to keep them sweet?

I’d only let him sign a release clause if it only begins to apply in summer, imagine all this and we lose him in JTW

Has anyone factored in the possibility that N'diaye is absolutely shite next season and not good enough to step up? Unlikely i know but just throwing it out there! 🫢😅
No and with good reason, if billy Sharp thinks he is good enough I am sure Ndiaya is

If we stay up then it will likely be because of Ndiaye + a decent defensive record.

Don't know the figures, but if that brings in 100m then whatever we can get for Ndiaye in a years time will basically be 100m + Ndiaye £x.

If we get relegated then we will get Ndiaye £x + parachute money.

We aren't mananaging a diva here in Ndiaye. You can tell his personality is everything you want in a player. We are however managing having a generational superstar on our hands.

We therefore need to negotiate accordingly and keep him happy. 10m either way is irrelevant.

He has got us promotion (achievement + £150m that brings) He will fetch a decent fee if he signs the new deal. If he keeps us up that's another £100m. If we go down then atleast we won't have wondered what it would have been like to have a superstar on our hands for 1 year in the Premier League. He is our Maradona.

Interesting question. I'm not too sure whether this is allowed or not. If it was I'd think most agents would get it written into every contract.

Players get a signing-on fee anyway don't they?

Let's just say that I don't think that he's as good as some other posters on here, so yep, I've considered that.

We still need protection though, just in case.

No it won’t. If he’s that good he’ll just get more clubs wanting to buy him and they’ll all pay the same release clause, but battle over personal terms.

Yep.

Scroll back and you'll see that I got my brain into gear.

It is Sunday you know ;)

Possibly just a figure put out there by either party to try and gauge what a reasonable release clause would be for both parties
