One year, signed in February 1973, left in February 1974 so he played in both 1972-73 and 1973-74 seasons
What were his stats ?

Remember him getting a couple v Coventry ??

Who did we sell him to ?

Yeah. Remember him coming. Thought he'd be a real situation changer and read an interview in Shoot about his move. Didn't fit in at all.

Didnt fit in at all? He started well for us scoring 6 goals in 12 league matches towards the end of the 1972-73 season, 3 goals in the first 7 league games of the following season before losing form and having clashes with Harris and then Furphy.

Guess you’re both right

Scoring v appearances good

Falls out with both Harris and Furphy suggests his attitude didn’t fit ?

That's what it was. Looked immensely capable and came with huge pedigree. Looked a great signing but backstage he had a flair player's attitude which rubbed up against the senior staff and what I learned some of the players too.

I missed some games of the 1973-74 season because I was in my first year at boarding school, he was first dropped after the 1-1 draw against Leicester in October (a game I hadnt seen), didnt play in any games when I was home for the October holidays. Returned as sub for the 1-1 draw against Birmingham in November, started in the next three games (I thought he was ok in the 3-0 win against Derby) before being dropped again. His first game under Furphy was in the defeat at Newcastle, played in the next game against Chelsea on NYD (I was at both matches but dont remember how he played) and got dropped from the team. Brought back for 3 more games in February before moving to Celtic. My dad told me that Bone wanted to return to Scotland.

Remember being in the BLUT with my dad fkr the Chelsea game

My memory - and I’m testing it here - was that we were winning 1-0 - Woodward , but ended up losing 2-1

Yes, it was a great opening goal by Woody who was leading the first division goal chart. He took a corner at the Lane End and it was half cleared and the ball dropped nicely for Woody to volley it in from the edge of the penalty box.

I thought Jim Bone was pretty good. Scored a late winner at Spurs in 1973 which resulted in 3 of us having our scarves nicked and smacked through some bushes after the game by some 20-something-year-old fans. We were aged 15. And they also nicked our fish and chips. Thought of them as a wank club ever since.....

I thought he was pretty good also, really thought he was going to become a cult hero at one point if he had pushed on but his heart wasn’t in it and he was desperate to get back to Scotland is how I remember it.

We signed several 'big name ' player in the mid and late 70s and for various reasons, none of them worked.

Jimmy Johnstone, Bruce Rioch, Trevor Ross, Les Tibbot and then things went spectacularly badly with Martin Peters and Don Givens.

Let’s not go there, too many nightmares.

Was there on that bank holiday Monday, all kicking off both outside and inside the ground.
We went using firms clapped out minibus, nutty norman driving. Got lost going there, we finally arrived about 2:45, must have been about 1500-2000 blades still trying to get in.
We were sat in the stand to the right of the visitors end, as if you were in that end.
Bottles, glasses, chair seats flying all over down in the bottom corner.
Because it was an open 3 sided ground, all their mob came hurtling round of the kop.

Leicester at home 73-74. Ah the memories. Oct 6th. I had a Saturday morning detention at school until 12 noon. Sat there with drug dealers and teacher bashers. My crime was revising French in a Chemistry lesson. Man I was a baaaaad mofo.
