Whilst in a way I get what you are talking about it's just not how it is anymore.

You don't need the best of everything but if you want to be attractive to players signing and wanting to stay even you do.
Players also become to expect level of facilities too and if ours are not as good as what they've been used too by a long shot then it's not exactly great when you are turning up to work etc. The hard work is on the training pitches and facilities too not really on the pitch.

Our training facilities have been patched together in the past 20 years. And not to mention that until half way though last season the training pitches were practically unusable in bad weather especially during winter.

We can't compete with the really big clubs, but ours should be comparable with clubs of a similar size.
We ain't gonna be building a Leicester training facility but perhaps even just trying to get up to Burnley's facilities wouldn't be a bad shout.

And I'm not even including the academy facilities in this....
Let's not forget burnleys had a decade of prem money we've had less than the 2 years we should have got but covid slashed our income. We can have everything in time but need 3 or 4 seasons in the prem

Apparently (according to Nixon) close to completing the paperwork and will join us in Portugal

I moan about Nixon but he's usually on the money, just has an annoying way about him.
On the deal, I get fees, wages and negotiations taking a while, but it always blows my mind when paperwork takes forever...
Don't you just write it up, print it, sign it?

Think it's been mentioned elsewhere, international clearance has caused the hold up on Traore.
Quite a lot of extra paperwork involved..

"closing in on finalising" is a great phrase if you want to leave some wiggle room.
The actual article is on Nixon’s Patreon page so behind a paywall. No idea if that’s the ‘The Bladesman’s’ wording or his.

Closing in on signing the paperwork makes it sounds like they e had to chase it round the office before finally trapping it in a corner and now they’re all slowly advancing towards it ready to pounce.
