From my Brøndby loving friend. Bit of practice for Roy
He fluctuates a bit in level, but when he plays as he can and is at his best, he is really good.
He is best in midfield and fast and good in attack.
He really is a fighter and was the best from Tunisia when they met Denmark last year during the World Cup, but it doesn't take much either
But he is good when he keeps level.
Time will tell if he can succeed in English football, but I hope so

I think calling them duds is disrespectful to the player and the scouts involved.
It's difficult to judge who will come through and reach the top from being a good prospect, plenty of really skillfull ,talented players fall by the wayside.
Now clubs can sign 6 foreign players the opportunity is there to use the freedom that brings.
Premiership clubs will be taking this opportunity ( and we are one). Not talking of 16/17 year olds! But one's who are showing real signs of making it big who won't come on freebies! !
Triaori is a good example,
We may not get him ! Just a good example.
Dont think duds is dissing some of the players we have bought - it wasnt mean as disrespectful to the human, more around the success of them in a SUFC shirt

if we look at a few purchases from the last time we were in the prem, I think 'dud' could be one of the least offensive words some would use!

In your own words, describe the following

O. Burke - £6.5m, 28 games, 1 goal
C. Robinson - £7.8m, 17 games, 1 goal
L. Mousset - £11.1m, 48 games, 9 goals
R. Brewster - £26m, 57 games, 4 goals*
L. Freeman - £5.6m, 15 games, 0 goals

One take on that, top 4 players were all bought as forwards, to score goals, for a combined fee of £51.4m, across exactly 150 games they have collectively scored 15 goals, thats 1/10

If anyone on here can find a gentler term to describe please share

*on form to date, not what could happen, if we liken it to the 2nd coming of Jesus Christ and he scores 20 goals this season

I don't think you can come to a conclusion around this until a player has left the club.
Therefore Brewster can't be considered in that list until his contract has expired or he's been sold.

It doesn't take away from the point being raised though.

Moussetts goals won us games. Each league position is 2 million quid. He was worth it even if he was only on form for a few months!
I’d be tempted to say that there is the opportunity cost to consider given the money, wages and game time given to Mousset could’ve gone on someone more impactful though based on our signings in those two PL years I’m not sure we could’ve done any better.

Given last time we were spending £20 odd million taking flyers on unproven talents I much prefer this model. Has our scouting network drastically changed from the days under Wilder or is PH just more open to going abroad?

Wilder did not want any foreign players, in his opinion they did not fit the mindset of the type of player with relative experience that he wanted

Not disagreeing with the ones you mentioned they were experienced players who didn't cut it (Brewster could still make it though ).
I was talking about the foreign market and young players who look to have something to build on and not costing big money.
That's what we are doing !
Obviously no-one gets it right everytime.

Had to laugh at one article I read which mentioned the proposed fee for Slimane and how due to his contract situation it had allowed United to 'pounce' to get him.

Fuck me sideways, if United was a cat we would be the skinniest feline alive as by the time it took us to 'pounce', the mouse would have fucked off to the mouse pub, pulled a lady mouse, and taken her back to his place for a sunflower special. The quickest of cats in the transfer market we most certainly are not. We are probably still hanging around the bins like one of Top Cats gang looking for used fish heads (Grimsby Town player maybe 🤔).

I'd argue PH is just a better man manager than Wilder was. No doubt Wilder had the ability to make the right players run through brick walls for him but PH seems to be able to take all sorts and bring them on. His work with the U23 (in stark contrast to WIlders reluctance to dip into the U23) and willingness to use/blood youth is testament to this. It also holds true for the way we've nurtured young Loan players and the likes of Anel. PH seems to be able to work with a far wider 'type' than Wilder could.

it is being reported that a fee of £2.2m has been agreed, with a 'hefty' sell-on clause. Yorkshire Live understands there is still work to do before the deal is complete, but the fact Slimane has now been allowed to focus on his departure from the club is a sign that a transfer is close.

Maybe we should have fucked about a bit more with the Brewster deal.
Wasnt the general.consensus of opinion at the time
In fact i think its the biggest thread on here and the most excited the populous has ever been

The only person not 100 % convinced was the owner who was basically pushed into it

Yep! Maybe that was the start of the prince and Wilder drifting apart.
Brewster has been unlucky!
The price paid really was too much with his lack of experience.
Prince did say we could have had a Dutch striker playing in the Bundesleague
For half the price .

Hard to remember my thoughts after all this time but I seem to think I liked the signing but did think it was a lot. That said I was still in my “in Wilder we trust” phase so probably thought it was a good deal.

But don't forget that back then, paying a high price was compulsory, or the club wasn't showing any "ambishun" 🤩

He's going to come good, you just watch. Mousset will also play for France in the next Euros when he re-gains form & Freeman at Luton would be perfect replacement for Ndiaye when he goes.

We had to sign him to show ambition. Some we suggesting we should go to £27m if Palace were interested. We just couldn’t afford to miss out.
The board need to back the manager.

What with peanuts! We arnt going to spend big obviously let's see where we are in 4 or 5 weeks.20 + million on one player just ain't going to happen and maybe shouldn't have happened last time.
The foreign market is open too us now ( more so than last time ) shrewd business will see us stronger than last time without spending what we haven't got.

“After Tunisia played France at the World Cup,” Sebastian Stanbury, the Danish journalist, told The Star, “Kylian Mbappe sought him out and wanted to swap shirts with him. He, Mpabbe, told him: ‘See you in the Champions League.’

Wasn't FB's post about Rhian Brewster?

I was absolutely buzzing about this one...
Until Roygbiv dropped a spoiler about his View From, hinting that his current teams fans don't like him.
