Had a great debut season for Malmö FF last year, impressing in many of his 27 appearances in the league at only 17. Won the Young Player of the Year award, in stiff competition with Yasin Atari (now Brighton - see attached spider). Larsson’s performances led to concrete interest from bigger clubs in bigger leagues, but he turned down offer in order to continue his development by playing regularly. In the beginning of this season, he has started as he finished 2022. Very interesting player to follow.
I really like his physicality and athleticism. He is 1.87, but have speed and vision which allows him him to move the play forward, find spaces between the lines and set up his team mates using his great passing. His pace, stamina and movement can be deployed further down in the pitch, as a number 8 (box-to-box), but he is also comfortable as a number 6 and 10. I am also impressed by his decision-making and technique, which allows him to play in tight spaces which is quite rare for players that age. He is tall, but need to build more muscle although he never seem to struggle with the physical play.
So far only 1.5 years of senior football playing regularly, but for sure a player worth keeping and eye out for. Give it a year or two and he will be a starter for Sweden. Realistic for us? I think so. Look at Anel, another Swede and ex team mate who's career have taken off since signing for us. I am confident he would be able to pitch Sheffield United as the best step for his future development. Price? Id estimate 7-9m GBP.
