What price mcatee & doyle

Bring them back on loan they keep the international prestige,of being Man City boys/ first team football , we get insurance of if things go wrong and top class players .

Man City were quite happy to sell Doyle to us in the summer, and wanted to include a pre agreed purchase price in the loan deal. We weren't interested. The figure that was suggested will be lower than the one which he is eventually sold for. So we'll lose out there.

McAtee is more highly thought of by City and they view him as having first team squad potential. They won't sell him, but would happily loan him out for a season next season in the PL to continue his education. You have to remember that City have a conveyor belt of players in the same year, years above Doyle & McAtee and the years below. We are viewing them in insolation, where as City see them as part of a group of 6 or 7 players.

I think we are perfectly placed to get both on loan. But I'd don't see us signing either of them. I think City still see McAtee as one for the future and a season in the Prem increases Doyle's value in the shop window.
You can’t have both on loan only one premier rules

No one knows the future but logically if Man City and pep are happy with what we have done to develop both of them during their loan spell (and why shouldn’t they be? When compared to delap at stoke?)

Then there’s no reason they shouldn’t be happy for either of them to continue their development here rather then sending them elsewhere. They are going to be playing and. Starting and in a system where there’s no learning curve or period of adaption - other than the level of competition.

Might not happen but a reasonable scenario IF we can hold on and go up is Doyle signs permanently and we take mcatee again. As others have said mcatee seems to be viewed as the player with the highest upside at city where as Doyle might be seen as further away given the inconsistency of his loans in Germany / Cardiff.

I'm sure if we want them both a deal.could be done
Doyle on a permanent seems obvious as at his age and stage of development he needs to play although it's a shame he hasn't had a full season because of injuries but in the few games at the end of the season in a high pressure setting inna pivotal role he has excelled
Given that small sample size he should be able to make the step up but still has a lot to learn all round to his game

Mcatee looks a real talent and a match winner but has an awful lot to add physicality and mentally to become a top player whether united and citehs staff think that would happen with us we don't know If so would be a great loan

City aren’t going to sell McAtee yet. Nor is he going to be in their squad next season.

Is he ready for a Prem loan? I’d suggest City will want him exposed to that level of football, but he’d only get game time at a bottom club, and even then he’ll need to force his way in over time. No guarantee that’ll happen.

As for Doyle, City might be willing to sell, although he might not want to go. But either way he needs to be at a Prem club next season, on loan at the very least.

If we go up I’d take either. McAtee would be more of a punt, but we would have to gamble on creative potential in order to avoid another horribly impotent season.

Well, their asking prices will both have gone up recently - thankfully for us. We'd not be going up without them

McAtee won't be allowed to leave permanently. He has a genuine chance at City long term. He has quickly become our 2nd best player behind Ndiaye, having adapted very quickly and impressively to everything - league, style, position, all of it. He's proved himself to be a potential top level player. Best we can hope for is another loan, and I think we'll get him, but he'll spend as long as possible with City in pre season first

Doyle I do think we can get permanently. He's a bit older and not quite of the same calibre as McAtee, and also given his position it's difficult to see a first team future for him at City, so he will be allowed to leave permanently. I think most are overestimating what he should cost though. If they want over 10m, we should look elsewhere. If we were willing to entertain such a fee I'd want assurances that he's over the injury/fitness issues that have hindered him all season

If I can just stick my nose in John, I'm a big fan of James, I've watched him from the 14's. He's coming on at the Blades, he needed to improve the physical side of his game. Pep actually wanted him in the first team squad this season, it was James who wanted to go out on loan. Final thing is no player who have gone out on loan during Peps management has returned to play first team football.

It’ll be fascinating to see what happens with him. My views are based on watching all his games for us, and knowing (from a distance) the quality of the players he needs to leapfrog at City.

He’s got god given talent, and has improved massively in the space of 6 months. But if he goes to City I can’t see more than cup starts next season. Maybe a few off the bench in the league if Pep wants to fast track him.

Love watching him play, and rate him very highly. But he’s genuinely not our best player, or our most gifted player.

Let’s see - Pep might know a bit more than me. :)

Tommy Doyle may become available if we sign Jude Bellingham.

Tommy is of an age and is good enough to play lower premium with experienced players around him.

He wants to play regular first team football...City will include a sell on and buy back clause.

Burnley are interested.

Pep wants James to come Back to the first team squad and train with De Bruyne etc.

Their are some fantastic prospects in City EDS who might be ready for a Championship loan

Can't see LG 1 Wednesday signing Jude Bellingham
Unless it's a straight swap for Barry bannan

Just for the record ,what's their valuation as champ players
If Russ is watching the snooker now I'll add my twopenneth (again).
If I were Man City and wanted to sell Doyle I would ask for £25M plus add-ons (maybe start higher that that).
It won't just be us as a (hopefully!) Premier League team interested, so why would Man City not try to get top dollar.
Bowen left Hull for West Ham for over £20M, that was 3 years ago, fees have increased.

Don't get me wrong, if City want to sell for around £12-15M, if he wants to come, if we can afford that, if we can match the salary offered by other interested clubs.......I would be absolutely delighted. Too many ifs there though.
Just my opinion, he will either end up staying under contract with Man City and going out on loan again, or sold for MUCH more than £12-£15M.
If McAteee isn't available to us next season and we can get Doyle on load again I would be delighted.

My take is yes two good young players ,maybe had a 15 good games for us between them ,yes they are in form now ,and I hope they fire us to promotion.but some of the wild valuations are straight off football manager

If we go up then it will only be about 10 weeks before we find out what Man City want to do.
Happy to be proved wrong and re-visit this thread at that time.

Man City sold Lavia for over £10M, he had never played a first team game at any level. So it is logical to think that they would want much more for Doyle.

Latvia was a brighter prospect than Doyle and went straight into premiership football and done well in a poor team.

Doyle and mcatee where kept around and sent out on loan as if they where good enough they could help fill the home grown quota in the future

Ideal scenario is Doyle on a permanent, Kyle on a free and McAtee on loan again 😁

What price for Doyle and McAtee to score both our goals in a 2-1 win over the big Mancs in the FA Cup final?

…Nurse!

…just enjoy them while they’re here. If they were our players, we’d have sold em both by now.

We have no money anyway to buy anyone after the financial situation we have got into in the last few years, unless the takeover is successful
