Whose fault is it?

interesting question. have you ever played football.

Great response.

In that image, how does Robinson clear the ball, given that the foot he’d need to use to clear it is planted on the floor, the ball isn’t really close enough to clear it and it’s running away from him?

They both dithered from what i saw.

What should have happened is.

Robinson should have booted the ball and attacker into the stand.

Wes should have booted the ball and Robinson and attacker into the stand.

Dont dither in situations like that.............take command.

This is definitely a bad goalkeeping decision he had full visibility of the situation so options are

don’t come and let your defender know who’s running back to goal to hoof or whatever

Come put it in row Z

I can’t blame Robinson for this

We can't keep moaning about this, life isn't always about seeing things from our perspective.

For example, knowsnowt was telling me that his kink is seeing angry, sweaty scousers have a go at unimpressed Barnsley men. Said it gets him reyt off.

He told me that last night proper did it for him. So, not everyone loses here.

wes is culpable. but this goes for any centre back just launch it into the stand every coach always says dont let the ball bounce. just because wes shouted shouldn't be an excuse. he has a brain of his own. as the old mum saying goes. "if wes told you to jump off a cliff would you"

take no chances, launch it for a throw in & then argue about it later
Goalkeepers should dictate that area in and around the 18 yard box good communication, reading the game and decision making Wes got all three wrong t

Wes 110% at fault he can't come out to collect a ball that isn't in the penalty area, if he stays in his goal he gives JLT two options a simple pass back or row Z all he does by rushing out is he confuses matters. That said JLT has to take control and hoof it into the stand it really is basic schoolboy stuff there was no danger until they left it to each other to clear the ball. Hecky probably hooked him as a reaction the sensible back four should have been Baldock Anel, Egan, JLT with the hopeless Bogle being sacrificed.

Have we blamed Stuart McCall for owt yet? I'm going to blame him this time, everybody gets a turn at being the scapegoat.

because i can understand how it can be eithers fault but i cant understand how you think he cant clear the ball 5 yards into touch. because should be obvious to anyone that has volleyed a ball in football. the technique required

that what makes me think you havent played football in quite a long time.

He wasn't close enough to the ball to be able to clear it until Wes was right on top of him. At that point he'd obviously heard the call from Wes and he left it thinking he'd deal with it instead.

The screenshots that you provided don't prove what you think they do. The second one in particular shows his left foot fully planted on the floor. He can't clear the ball into 5 yards into touch because he'd need to use his left foot to do so.

I disagree with you so obviously it must be that I haven't played football before.

It's history now, but for what it's worth, I think this one falls on Wes.

Robbo has his back to the rest of the players, and Wes has full view of the field, he comes running out and shouts for the ball, and I guess Robbo expected Wes to welly it, up field.

When Robbo came off, Hecky had his arm round his shoulder, and so I assume he said "nothing you could have done about that", or something similar.

I also agree with a few others on here, that JLT should have stayed on and Bogle taken off. We needed defenders and we needed someone with a bit of aerial presence, up front, for the few corners we had.

Anyway, let's consider that the last "blip", and win all our home games, then worry about how we rebuild for the top tier (a great problem to have).

It would take some wild imagination to come up with a scenario where that would happen.
3 game ban for Wes, 3 clean sheets, including a MoTM performance at Wembley with saving Haaland's final penalty in the shoot out to put us to an FA Cup final...

Wild? No. Unlikely yes...

Not having that. There's only 100% in 100%.

Can argue the toss all day long but it's really not a coincidence to me that this is something of a routine for Robinson to be involved in a colossal fuck up. Every time I think he's reliable he does something like this. Can you put some of the blame on Wes? Probably. But there's one player in our team who has this habit and it's not Wes.
