The only reason for this crap is the FA's insistence that all semi finals are played at Wembley. Total bollocks. For over 100 years, semi finals have been played at other stadiums. There are plenty of other neutral stadiums available that weekend that are much more convenient for both sets of fans. Stadiums in cities where they aren't holding a massive rugby game and a marathon on the same day. Cities where it doesn't cost 250 quid for a hotel room. Cities where you can get from the stadium to the train station in 30 minutes.

It's clear the FA's primary concern is to make as much money as possible. They don't give a fuck about the fans. If they did, they'd consider Birmingham, Leeds or Newcastle as a venue for the semi final, as they used to do.

I’ve just booked our train down on the assumption it’s Saturday. Kick off 5/5:30.

We know it can only be on the Saturday due to the Man Utd game (plus we are due to play the following Tuesday, so can’t play on Sunday).

There’s only been one semi final played earlier than 5 in the last ten years (I checked) and that was last year for the train issues.

Hoping it doesn’t come back to bite me on the arse and I’ve got to spend money switching trains, but I can’t see anything other than it being this slot.

It is annoying it’s taking so long for then to confirm, based on the constraints and knowledge that semi finals would be taking place this weekend.

I'm oldm enough to remember the uproar when they originally scheduled the Wendy semi at Elland Road. They had arranged Arsenal v Spirs for Wembley and we demanded equal treatment.

...and for me there's nothing 'magical' about going to Wembley. Perhaps there used to be. But not today. Not when it hosts the 5th, 4th, 3rd and 2nd division play off finals as well as the FA Cup semi finals and final, the League Cup final, the Mickey Mouse Cup final (Johnsons Paint trophy or whatever it's called), the FA Vase final, the FA Trophy final, and the Women's FA Cup final, as well as most men's and many women's internationals. And that's on top of other sports events at Wembley like rugby and boxing.

Been played at Wembley since 2008. Hardly just been sprung on us.

The main (only?) upside is it provides more tickets for supporters.

Never forget that you aren’t the only person alive and not everyone is as old as us, and indeed this Blades trip to Wembley will be the first for many.

My lad grew up in Oz and we moved back in 2018. I took him to see an England game at Wembley but I can’t tell you how excited he is to see the Blades play at Wembley. He’s 16 but was like a 5 year old on the way home from the game on Sunday.

He must have asked me at least 5 times if I absolutely promise we can go to Wembley.

Now this is a lad with a season ticket and we go to most away games. Yet he needed continual assurance that we will indeed go to this game. “You promise we can go, Dad”?!

Because it’s the blades at Wembley and it’s fucking magic ️

They also used to have semi finals at Hilsbrough and I’m not going to that rusty shithole so Wembley gets my vote!
