How the hell did we manage to play 8 minutes of 4 minutes injury time? Granted we do a bit of shitcuntery, but that would mean that the ball wasn't in play for first 4 minutes of injury time. Or to put it another way, there was the same amount of time wasting in injury time as in the previous 45.

Think we actually only played about 4

Feigning Injuries celebrations subs and general oh it's only a corner go on then...

Their player was getting treatment for 3 minutes of it?

Only played 4 minutes.
One of theirs injured, goal celebration and then the kop kept the ball.

Var covers the "mistakes" , so why can't the added on time be managed by them after 90 mins? The ref always gives the attacking time one last chance , even when added on time is up from either a corner or free kick. Leave it to someone off field to sound a hooter or summat when time is up. A substitution carries a 30 second add on so an off field official can surely time on for a stoppage for an injury and work it out.......

Trig Jnr.(TY) started timing added time when they kicked off after our third and it went to just past 5 minutes when he blew.

Mind you, in the 1st half he played 3 added minutes, which was how long it took to decide the VAR pen, so no added time at all really.

I was surprised it was as low as four minutes announced. The drinks break midway through the second half seemed to take 3-4 minutes on its own.

Going a bit nerdy stats however on the "ball in play time" between 01/07/2019 and 03/03/2021 in the Championship according to football observatory the average was calculated for the ball being in play over 954 games during this period the ball was on the pitch and playable 57.2% of the time so on average that's under 52 minutes in a 90 minute game. There has been proposals and potentials for trials to run the clock differently where you play 60 minutes of "in ball time" which means stopping the clock every time the ball isn't playable, based on the average we would be getting an additional 8 minutes per match worth of football. I personally would like to see the stats as you do wonder sometimes where the time comes from however if it was 2 halves of 30 minutes of in ball time we would actually be getting more football for our money!

We did. 4 mins and a corner.
The 4 minutes was up just before the corner was conceded. But most teams seem to be given 'one last chance' if it is a corner or a long throw in. I was half-expecting Blackburn to equalise from the corner!
But McBurnie was still on the pitch thankfully and he wins every defensive header at corners, so all good.

When Doyle blasted the ball into the kop for a clearance the ref might have added 30 seconds for that, not sure if they should or not as they never add time for players taking forever for goal kicks and free kicks.

I would be in favour of this in theory, however what would eventually happen is that Sky would use every break in play for an ad break. You’d end up with a situation like the Super Bowl where a one hour match ends up taking 4 hours. Fuck that.

It was right...

We scored @ 90:10

The game didn't restart until 93:32

They won a corner @ 97:36

The full time whistle went as we cleared the corner at 98:19

For 1st tome ever I started the stop watch when they kicked off...as Gaz announced 4 mins.

We played just over 4 mins which given there was at least one free kick was bang on.

There was about 3 or 4 nins of the Blackburn player getting his eyelash out his eye after he chucked himself to the floor

There is absolutely no need to extend the game to allow a corner to be taken as the only time the game can be extended is for a penalty. Blackburn were pissing about with it (mainly was/wasn't the keeper going up) so the referee should have ended the game before they took it. FWIW that happened with Barry Robson at that end of the pitch back in the League One years.

Very true, but it did give them a teeny bit of hope that added to their despair. Love it

Yeah unfortunately with TV money always an opportunity for that to happen. Its a difficult balance plus would be one of if not the biggest law change since the offside change with active play etc
