..... If you look at when that happened, it was in December when we were beating wank teams in a wank manner with everybody around us simply refusing to win

It was a bit of a fluke. Certainly something of an anomaly for this division. And now it's evening itself out

It should have still been enough for us. Unfortunately though Boro just happened to stumble on what appears to be the perfect manager.... they fucking would wouldn't they. Nevertheless, a competent manager (and a competent club) wouldn't have given them a chance from the position we were in

His track record with Barnsley and us as a manager is good, especially us.
He rescued us from abysmal in the Premiership, then put right last season and now has us second in the league. Difficult for him to do much better.
 
Yes, It’s a pretty poor situation, but he’s not failed yet and it would be a rather stupid decision if you got rid of a manager when we’re 2nd (or 3rd) in the league.

Away performances have been shocking bat one and a half games and substitutions selection at time’s bizarre

I think it was the other way around. Carrick was waiting for the right club to begin his management career. The rest is just fluff.

Problem is if we do sack heckingbottom and get someone else in what will that do to the players? They've come out multiple times and said how much they like him, get rid of him and their heads might drop even more? Same time if we get stuffed in cup and lose our next 2/3 league games then you have to ask questions about how the piss frig we have ballsed a 14 point lead up.
 
I think Heckingbottom has done remarkably well to get us where we are, to be honest. Some people seem to have selective amnesia, let’s recall Slavisa Jokanovic tenure, leading ‘The best squad in the Championship’ ?

Uniteds problem is the ‘superb squad’ contains nobody to put the ball in the net, the forward line is so toothless, so one paced it’s depressing. We’re now just reliant on Iliman producing a flash of brilliance, without which, nothing happens.

We found ourselves in the fortuitous position of 10 points clear in January, largely as a result of teams beating each other, while we ground out wins by the odd goal. At that point, we had a golden opportunity, but were crying out for additions up front. Two like Archer and Akpom in January, would have us chasing down Burnley. Instead we got a transfer embargo and were left to try and limp towards the finishing line.

That is the problem and that is not of Paul Heckingbottoms making, that is down to the owners mismanagement and now the manager is left, trying to make a silk purse with a pigs ear, dodging the bullets that should be aimed at the boardroom.

Everyone will have their own opinion about who should be in the starting eleven, that’s only to be expected, but whoever he picks, we won’t get promoted, because we failed to address a glaringly obvious lack of goal scorers. 😩

Better would have been matching Burnley and that’s unrealistic. His substitutions are only bizarre in your opinion.

agree this embargo has f****d our season bringing a couple like o brien and archer in would have sealed the deal for me and thats not heckys fault just terrible money management at boardroom level what is heckys fault is playing this ultra cautious defensive crap football the players obviously dont like it were not going anywhere playing these tactics but its not too late this season if were gonna fail at least lets have a go and attack teams from the off nowt to lose now

Perfect words to describe them

Hecky should still have got us up, but he's been let down badly and when we look back on this historic moment it will be the owner and his crew who rightly get the blame

Hecky is just a limited manager performing in his limited way who just happened to get us in an incredible position we couldn't have expected

OBrien and Archer were the ones we wanted as well. They were both beyond obvious choices. They were the right players, should have been 100% attainable for a club in our position, and would've got us up. This should remove blame on Hecky further.... but there was talk he wouldn't guarantee Archer a starting role - LOL - because we have Berge don't we 😂

Even if we accept the premise, who is going to sack Heckie? The Prince is on his way out and won't sack the manager when that's a decision that should be taken by the ongoing owner of the club - and Dozy isn't in place yet.

Given there's no one who can really make that decision, it's a bit of a daft question really. 🤷

The thing that really annoys me about the Hecky discourse is the fact there's a very vocal group of fans who have hated him since he was given the job, refuse to give him any credit (apparently anyone could manage this squad to promotion. Someone should tell the Watford and West Brom owners about Anyone), look at anything to criticise him about. Apparently he injures players with his recklessness. Everyone knows. When he says something reasonable in a press conference he isn't passionate enough. He "tells the players to play too safe" despite the players saying he told them to stop playing too safe. Already talking about getting rid of him if we go up. The list goes on and on.

Now, it's perfectly reasonable to question the system, tactic, substitutions, starting XI etc, especially of late, but there's rarely praise from this group when he gets it spot on. Rarely even the basic understanding of the constraints he's operating under. If we beat teams "anyone could have got the 'best squad in the league' to win". We win through an injury crisis and the performances aren't good enough. Fans expect random youth players number 7 (who they've never seen play) to be brought in to the team because they're better than a player who is a regular in a team second in the league. Expect a player who hasn't played in the league to suddenly start and have no negative impact on our results or performance. And I'm very much sure should Hecky make the big changes that some are demanding and we lose it will be his fault for being 'clueless'.

Some of our fans are desperate for Wilder to return. Want a manager who will go on endlessly about being a Blade and beating his chest. Seem to think we're entitled to go up. Seem to thing we should easily beat almost any team in the league. Think that training pitches, injuries, embargo, takeover, lack of funds, no new contracts, working conditions shouldn't impact on our players because they're not human beings, they're rich and privileged.

It's why I get so pissed off when losing a game seems to automatically spark threads about sacking the manager with no acceptance of the job he's done so far. Sure, we're having the worst spell under his leadership, and he deserves criticism (as do the players) but if this is going to be the response every time we have a bad spell then we're just going to be Watford. 3 managers every season because our fans expect to win every flipping game.

Deffo a sense of entitlement that we should HMS the league. We should be right up here and we are. But are on a bad run of form right now, which may well cost us of course. If we turn it around will they get the plaudits? And I really believe they are deffo capable of doing so. Whether they will is another matter!

Actual fact there has been no end of things happening in the background and lets not forget this team is crying out for some fresh impetus in terms of players in. (Permanently).
I'm not knocking the lads we have but new faces brings fresh dynamics.
The prince since relegation has sanctioned the full signings of.... Adam Davies and Anel.

In a way, we, Hecky, the players are all victims of our own success. Many fans expect results and performances twice a week. We were in a false position with a huge points lead. We had played easier games than the teams below us who had been playing each other. And we pulled points out of games when we didn't deserve them. The issues we've been carrying since the WC, for most of this season, caught up with us.

I have no idea what will happen. I personally think it's a lot easier to chase a team than when you're close or ahead. The Boro team talk has been easy every game. You have to give it all. You have nothing to lose and have to give it all in every game in order to overcome the points difference. Gets a bit more tense for them now. For their fans. That usually translates into performances.

The worry is the injury crisis has meant we've had to overplay players and they're both mentally and physically drained.

No more excuses we couldn't train because it was snowing tough all the other clubs had to train indoors. Mental fatigue, injuries, nearly all the injured are back. If we were not going to bring anyone in January, then why let Khadra go back.

no its not too late but judging by heckys latest press conference he isnt going to change anything which i find bizarre after we blew away most of the big teams in the first half of the season with our attacking style just dont understand his thinking
