Has Hecky Been Sacked Yet?

The one and only time he needed his team to boring and solid was the game v Boro when a draw would have been fine. After going 1 up early doors he needed the team to sit in, and break on Boro who had a shit load of pace going the other way so needed to give them no space in midfield or at the back. Instead United tried to make it a game of basketball and were picked off. Fucking bizarre tactics.

Next game away at Millwall. Just got a late equaliser at a difficult place to go, and we needed to ensure we got a point at least after our defeat to Boro. Logic was to put Clark on at left centre back to stiffen up that side and take a valuable point. I was actually shouting at the TV wanting him to do it. So what do we do? Make it a basketball game and give away a late winner which was fucking awful from a single free kick punt down out left channel where they actually had a man over. Clark on the pitch would have stopped that dead and got us a point. Blackburn away, a point would have been alright. Keep it right and try and grow into the game and perhaps nick one second half. So what do we do? Get a corner early doors, leave ourselves wide open at the back and go behind after 5 mins.

The least said about today's team selection and tactical master class the better.

All seemingly commons sense tactics and all seemingly beyond the management and/or the players. But never mind, we can still.pick the same fucktards the next game. We have been fucking brain dead at times this season. It's a collective failure by management and team.
Too right
The only team that can pass the ball aimlessly around the pitch for 89 minutes

But holding onto something in the last ten minutes they can't do anything but hoof it to the half way line constantly inviting pressure and increasing stress on everybody

So much of the anti manager bile today is OTT.
Yes another bad day at the office.
Again we have lost by the odd goal to a pretty decent team giving the almighty Boro a run for their money.
Luton were athletic, closed us down all over the pitch. The sort of team we struggle with.

Today and a few games lately we've not been good on the eye, but for all that, we have created decent chances and conceded few good chances.
The problem we have is when our chances come we miss them, whereas the opposition are finishing the few chances they get.

Look at the XG stats from the last 6 games.
Today v Luton, despite looking poor, draw or win is the most likely result from chances created.
V Reading we just about deserved the win.
V Blackburn we lost a game which on chances created we should have won.
V Watford we win as you'd expect from the XG.
Millwall we probably should have drawn.
Boro we probably should have won.

So 3 ot the last 6 games we could easily have had 9 more points plus one more with a draw at Millwall. If only eh?

What's going wrong then? It's fine margins. Clearly all these games have been pretty tight affairs.

I would say that the manager isn't missing all these chances. He isn't making errors leading to conceding unlikely goals either. I think he can do better but the players need to perform in those key moments. I sense Hecky isn't demanding enough from the players and isn't motivating them or building their self belief to brush teams aside. Let's hope he turns that round soon.

Stats courtesy of infogol
Utd .95xg. Luton .46xg Lost 1 0
Reading .44xg. Utd 1.01xg. Won 1 0
Blackburn.74xg. Utd 1.26xg. Lost 1 0
Utd 1.30xg. Watford 0.85xg. Won 1 0
Millwall 1.51xg. Utd 1.65Xg. Lost 3 2
Utd 2.49xg Middlesbrough 1.27xg. Lost 3 1

Someone should tell this fella xg is fading into the realm of idiocy and hilarity as quickly as it arrived.

Give him to the end of the season then move him upstairs. Such a smart bloke he would make an excellent director of football but hasn't got the skills needed to be a top manager...
That's an interesting perspective so how and why?....What's missing as a coach and what talent has he as a potential DOF. Genuinly interested🙏

Just have a look who started the insults. Someone clearly disagreed with me but decided they’d throw something personal at me instead of providing a counter argument. All thats happened is theyve had it back.

I wont be embarassed about anything. I’ll still think the manager is out of his depth and sleepwalking us into oblivion.

Unfortunately for you, Im not offended by ‘urchin shite’ and ‘gutter rat’ but seeing as you’re so offended by personal insults its a wonder you’ve thrown some out so freely.
There's a difference between an insult and specifically targeting someone's mother pal.

He’s the only thing holding us back and you all know it.
We weren't good yesterday... but the inevitable tantrums from a lot of fans 🤦

Remember that if we'd had a budget we'd have purchased more players than just Anel. We're working with 'what we had' from previous seasons, plus two rookie loanees that have talent but little experience or fitness.

Hecky has an incredible record since he took over.

P.S. Who actually thought we would get automatic promotion in August 2022? Not many fans on here I don't think.

We havent been good for months. People have constantly been shot down on here for calling out how uninspiring Heckyball is. He’s been getting away with it by just doing enough to win. Again, people have been shot down for saying it might not last, but no our fans are more than happy to blindly clap away and pretend its not happening.

You cant argue with the results over the season, but they’ve taken a nose dive recently and when we lose Heckyball looks a whole other level of bad.

Incredible form is pushing it. His away form has been patchy at best. Its our incredible home form thats kept us around the top of the league. Both this season and last season, the away performances have been some of the most mind-numbing I’ve ever seen watching United.

These two loanees you speak of are actually having more of an effect on games than our ageing current crop, yet our darling Hecky refuses to put them in from the start.

I can tell you now I didnt expect automatic promotion in August 2022 and I still dont now and thats because of the manager.

I never wanted Hecky and I still think he is a low-end championship club manager at best. He seems slow to react to how games are developing (no way should Fleck have come back out after HT yesterday), is overly cautious and clearly hasnt got the bottle to drop Sander and Norwood (who both deserved to be benched).

That being said, it has been a farce off the field and he is still second in the league. I am not sure I'd want him sacked today based on that.

However, should this season turn into the mother of all f*ck ups (throwing away 14 point lead) he should be sacked. If Dozy is the real deal and still wants the club in the Championship - and does indeed become our new owner, Hecky will be toast.

If Hecky does get us promoted, I suspect he'd also be toast pretty quickly next season, particularly if we are under new ownership.

He’s the only thing holding us back and you all know it.

I would sack him if we had a replacement ready to come in straight away

But we don’t do there’s no point sacking him

I also think mcall doesn’t have a scooby hecky&mcall are league 1/2 manager and they make us play like that

There’s a reason mcall has never had a managerial career with any success because he has dinosaur football ideas kick and run

Neither have a scooby

Yes yesterday was everything we shouldnt have done

sharps legs have gone completely
Fleck is treading water
Berge keeps running into walls

etc etc

but we have been shit before then turned it round
nothing is nailed on yet
yes boro may look magical beating a dog shit swansea team rapidly declining , while we lost to the best away team in the division
but football is full of ups and downs

Im hoping an inform stoke can cause boro some trouble, we might actually turn up at sunderland

man utd soon got over a 7-0 thrashing. we have to get back to basics , play more of the team that beat Spurs and rest till MID May some ageing players whos sell by date has passed
but we are still in front and play 6 of the bottom half to finish ,, lets not throw all the toys out of the box

I remember thinking why have Wednesday sacked megson when they are 3rd in league one just behind us and just beaten us, but they did , and they ended up getting automatic promotion

Sadly we are stuck with a clueless idiot who whilst knowing the fundamentals about coaching has as much idea of management as SCC. We will contest the play offs and obviously lose be it against Luton or Millwall and enjoy a hard fought relegation battle next season. Cheers Heckinguselesscluelessbottlelessidiot.

Best case scenario is we have a tactically inept manager in the Premier League no thanks. Based on his performances this season I’d hardly call him smart.

We could all write a team sheet out. We could also be as pointless when it comes to changing it if the shit hits the fan an all.
Surely the real skill as a manager is acquiring the best available players. So far with loans and Anel he has done very well.
Skill to gel them into a successful team is the next step. We cannot yet judge him on that, other than his record so far this season is second only to Burnley.

May I assume that you don’t think he is good at his job ?!!

A club that was 12 points clear and now his wank negative tactics have caught up with him to the point where he’s now only 4 points clear.

The bloke has consistently put in the most mind-numbingly boring away performances ever since he took charge and has fluked his way to second in the division.

He’s one of the most boring managers Ive ever had the misfortune to watch at United. His football is toss. Its not exciting, its fucking boring. If thats what you want to watch then sound, but hes genuinely the only manager thats made me want to consider whether I want to renew my season ticket or not.

The thought of this manager with a vastly reduced squad makes me want to put shards of glass up my japs eye
Wasn't he the manager that got us 12 points clear in the first place?

Are you sure it’s not down to the players ? Those that took Burnley apart are not now performing to the best of their abilities.

May I assume that you don’t think he is good at his job ?!!
I think he has abilities as a coach.
I think he is utterly useless as a manger as his track record shows.
Sadly we are stuck with him.
We will be in the Championship with no good players left as a consequence.
I will be happy to admit being wrong and would love to be.

I bet you were happy when Slav was appointed though

Hecky has tried both expansive (vs Middlesbrough) and lost, and also tried to keep it tight (vs Luton, Blackburn etc.), and lost both. I would wager he's in two minds about what to do vs Sunderland. Doyle has to start, as does Baldock - that at least gives us some much-needed bite that we're sadly lacking right now. He also needs to get Jebbo on the bench as the lad was excellent just a month ago. A point at Sunderland wouldn't be the end of the world but I'd love 3 in the Donaldson styleee.

I miss the wilder putting 4 strikers on days. Heckybooboo makes sensible subs or pointless ones. GERREMON GERREMALLON.

This. It’s tepid Btec Blackwell this. Board couldn’t give a fuck so he’s got free rein to dick about.

FallowfieldBlade in talking sense for once shocker....

Hecky gets the boot....who comes in to finish the job? Name me one realistic out of work Manager?

we cant afford to sack him

Take your pick. One of the best squads in the division we’ve got and Hecky is making it look incredibly difficult. Wilder and Billic would be doing a far better job than the dingle.
Would that be the Wilder who couldn't get a tune out of the same Boro squad who are now breathing down our necks, and the Bilic who had a considerably better squad than ours (on paper at least) at Watford but could barely get them to limp into the top 6?

Is it actually a realistic thing to bring new manager in at the moment like this and be 100% succesfull?

Unfortunately we are forced to sit on our hands and watch this season play out one way or another.

The off field issues mean that if we don't get promoted this season, the financial landscape at BDTBL next season may be quite unpleasant. Coupled with this, we don't know who will get promoted from L1.

Should we fail this season, and Ipswich fail to get promoted, i'd go for Kieran McKenna and give him the power to change what he likes off & on the pitch. Start a revolution.

He's a young, talented manager that has spent time at both Man Utd and Spurs as a coach, and I would allow him to bring in young, hungry & ambitious people around him as coaches, data analysists and scouts. People who he has encountered in his career to date that have impressed him, but who may be stuck in the pipeline at bigger clubs. Young people of talent, ideas and vision, who deserve a chance to put those ideas into action at a higher level than at which they are currently working.

It's about time we were run like an elite level football club with a strategy, rather than some matey Meadowhall Sunday League outfit.
